अफीम (Afeem)

नशे के लिए अफीम (Afeem) का उपयोग तो हम सभी जानते हैं, परंतु आज यहां अफीम (Afeem) के औषधीय गुणों के बारे में चर्चा होगी। अफीम (Afeem) पोस्त के डोडों से प्राप्त की जाती है, जो कृषिजन्य पौधों पर लगते हैं।  भारतवर्ष में बिहार, पूर्वी उत्तर प्रदेश, मध्य एवं पश्चिम भारत और मालवा में पोस्त की खेती की जाती है। पोस्त के डोडे जब पूर्ण विकसित हो जाते हैं, परंतु कच्ची अवस्था में होते हैं, तब इन में चीरा लगाने से एक गाढ़ा दूध या लैटेक्स सा निकलता है। इसको एकत्रित कर सुखा लिया जाता है। यही व्यवसायिक और औषधीय अफीम होता है। पोस्त का डोडा शीतल, हल्का, ग्राही, कड़वा, कसैला, वातकारक, कफ तथा शुष्क, धातुओं को सुखाने वाला, मोहजनक तथा रुचि को उत्पन्न करने वाला होता है। 

अफीम क्या होता है?

पोस्त के डेढ़ फुट से चार फुट तक अर्धवार्षिक पौधे होते हैं, जिनमें पत्ते 4 इंच लंबे - चौड़े, अवृन्त, हृदयाकार तथा कांड संसक्त होते हैं। पुष्प एकल, नीलाभ श्वेत, नीचे का भाग बैगनी होता है। फल अनार की भांति गोल अंडाकार होते हैं। इसके नीचे की ओर ग्रीवा तथा ऊपर कंगूरेदार चोटी होती है। फल पकने पर स्फुटन के लिए कंगूरे के नीचे कपाटाकार सूक्ष्म छिद्र हो जाते हैं।

मुख्यतः फूलों के रंगों के अनुसार यह तीन प्रकार की होती है-

• पिलाई लिये सफेद (खसखस सफेद)
• लाल (खसखस मन्सूर)
• काला या नीला (खसखस स्याह)

पोस्त के बीजों में हल्के पीले रंग का मीठा स्थिर तेल होता है, जिसे रोगन खसखस कहते हैं। अफीम में मार्फिन, नर्कोटीन एवं कोडीईन आदि एलकेलाइट्स पाए जाते हैं। इसके अतिरिक्त इसमें अनेक प्राथमिक तथा द्वितीयक एलकेलाइट्स, कार्बनिक अम्ल, लेक्टिक एसिड एवं मेकोनिक एसिड आदि ऑर्गेनिक अम्ल, जल, ग्लूकोज, वसा, उड़नसील तेल आदि तत्व पाए जाते हैं।

सिर दर्द में

1 ग्राम अफीम और दो लौंग पीसकर मस्तक पर लेप करने से वादी तथा सर्दी की वजह से होने वाले सिर दर्द में आराम होता है।

नेत्र रोग में

आंख के दुखने और आंख के दूसरे रोगों में इसका लेप बहुत लाभकारी होता है।

नकसीर की समस्या

अफीम तथा कुंदरू गोंद दोनों बराबर मात्रा में पानी के साथ पीसकर सूंघने से नकसीर बंद होती है।

बालों के लिए

पोस्ट के बीजों को दूध में पीसकर सिर पर लगाने से, सर में होने वाले फोड़े फुंसी एवं रूसी साफ हो जाते हैं।

दांत दर्द में

16 मिलीग्राम अफीम और 125 मिलीग्राम नौसादर, दोनों को दाढ़ में रखने से दाढ़ की पीड़ा मिटती है और दांत के छेद में रखने से  दंत शूल मिटता है।

खुजली की समस्या

अफीम को तिल के तेल में मिलाकर मालिश करने से खुजली मिटती है।

जोंक का डंक 

जोंक का डंक अगर पक जाए तो, उस पर इसके दानों को पीसकर लेप करने से आराम मिलता है।

बुखार में

अफीम के 1 डोडे और 7 काली मिर्च को औटाकर दोनों समय पिलाने से बुखार मिटता है।

स्वरभंग की समस्या 

अफीम के डोडे और अजवाइन को औंटकर गरारा करने से बैठी हुई आवाज़ खुल जाती है। 

खांसी की समस्या 

बीजों सहित इसके 60 ग्राम डोडे का क्वाथ बनाकर 50 ग्राम बुरा मिलाकर शर्बत बनाकर पिलाने से खांसी मिटती है। 

गर्भाशय की पीड़ा 

प्रसव के बाद अफीम के डोडों का क्वाथ पिलाने से गर्भाशय की पीड़ा मिटती है। 

अफीम के नुकसान (Side Effects of Opium)

• अफीम का अधिक मात्रा में सेवन उपद्रवकारी है और इससे मृत्यु तक हो जाती है।
• अफीम का लगातार सेवन से नपुंसकता हो सकती है।

You all know the use of opium for intoxication, but today here we will discuss about the medicinal properties of opium. Opium (Afeem) is obtained from poppy shoots, which are grown on cultivated plants. Poppy is cultivated in Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh, central and western India and Malwa in India. When poppy buds are fully developed, but are in raw state, then a condensed milk or latex comes out by making an incision in them. It is collected and dried. This is the commercial and medicinal opium. Poppy seeds are cool, mild, receptive, bitter, astringent, phlegmatic, phlegmatic and dry, drying metals, seductive and generating interest.

What is opium?

Poppy is a semi-annual plant from one and a half feet to four feet, in which the leaves are 4 inches long - wide, sessile, heart-shaped and the trunk is attached. The flower is single, blueish white, the underside is purple. The fruits are round oval like pomegranate. It has a griva at the bottom and a fringed peak at the top. When the fruit is ripe, small small holes are formed at the bottom of the kangoor for dehiscence.

Mainly according to the color of flowers it is of three types-

• Powdered white (poppy white)
• Red (Poppy Mansoor)
• black or blue (poppy seed)

Know about the benefits, harms, uses and medicinal properties of opium

Poppy seeds contain a sweet, stable oil of light yellow color, which is called rogan poppy seed. Alkalites are found in opium like morphine, narcotine and codeine. Apart from this, many primary and secondary alkalites, organic acids, lactic acid and meconic acid etc., organic acids, water, glucose, fat, flaxseed oil etc. are found in it.

in headache

Grind one gram opium and two cloves and apply it on the head, it provides relief in headache and headache due to cold.

in eye disease

Its paste is very beneficial in eye pain and other eye diseases.

nosebleeds problem

Grind both opium and kundru gum with equal quantity of water and sniff it, it stops nosebleeds.

for hair

Grinding the seeds of post in milk and applying it on the head, boils and dandruff are cleared on the head.

in toothache

Putting both 16 mg opium and 125 mg Nausadar in the molar ends the pain of the molar and keeping it in the hole of the tooth cures colic.

itching problem

Mixing opium with sesame oil and massaging it ends itching.

leech sting

If the sting of a leech is cooked, then grinding its grains on it and applying it provides relief.

in fever

Fever is cured by taking 1 ball of opium and 7 black peppercorns and giving it both times.

hoarseness problem

By gargling opium balls and carom seeds, the sitting voice is opened.

cough problem

Make a quart of 60 grams of lozenges along with seeds, mix 50 grams of bad and take it after making sherbet, it ends cough.

uterine pain

The pain of the uterus ends by taking opium bales after delivery.

Side Effects of Opium

• Consumption of opium in excessive quantity is nuisance and it leads to death.
• Continuous consumption of opium can cause impotence.
