Shri Chamunda-Kangra Ji Temple ||

(Chamunda Devi)

Shri Chamunda-Kangra Ji Temple ||

Shri Chamunda-Kangra Ji Temple ||

Shri Chamunda-Kangra Ji Temple ||

Shri Chamunda-Kangra Ji Temple ||

Shri Chamunda-Kangra Ji Temple ||

Kangra Valley Railway, Himachal ||

Kangra Valley Railway, Himachal ||

Kangra Valley Railway, Himachal ||

Let us take you today on the journey of the toy rail, which the local people call the small train. Traveling in this train was a different experience. Before the arrival of the train or say that we were clicking the pickup there while waiting for the train. The train tracks were also thin, which was completely new to us.

Kangra Valley Railway, Himachal ||

Somewhere this train was passing only through the bridge or sometimes through the tunnel. Another heritage toy train in Kangra Valley Railway, India. This train runs between Pathankot and Jogindernagar. Included in the list of World Heritage Site, this toy train passes through fast canals, many bridges of Palampur and tea gardens. Many beautiful views of the Dhauladhar range were seen in this journey.

Kangra Valley Railway, Himachal ||

However, when we boarded the train from Nurpur station, the train was full of passengers and almost all the passengers were going to Jwala Mata Mandir, Chamunda Devi Temple, Kangra Devi Maa Mandir, among which we were the Palampur tea gardeners. After boarding the train, we could not find a place to sit, but luckily the passengers got down at the next station and we got a place to sit and we reached Palampur very comfortably. But the interesting thing was that while this train was full of passengers in the morning, it was completely empty while returning in the evening.

Kangra Valley Railway, Himachal ||

Well, let's go ahead let's talk about this train. This railway line was planned in May 1926 and commissioned in 1929. The line has two tunnels, one of 250 feet (76 m) and the other 1,000 feet (300 m) in length. Trains on this narrow gauge line are pulled by smaller and less powerful engines than those on the broad gauge main line, so steep climbs had to be avoided. But instead of boring expensively through the mountains on a straight path, a much longer right-of-way to the south was chosen that allowed a gentle slope. The maximum speed of this toy train is 40 km / h. The fare of this train is very less.

Chai Bagan, Palampur ||

Chai Bagan, Palampur ||

Chai Bagan, Palampur ||

Palampur Cooperative Tea Factory

The last ruler of the fort was Raja Jagat Singh. The Brij Swami temple was also established here during his time in the 16th century. Noor Jahan was jealous of Nuri, she had Nuri's tongue cut off

The Nurpur Fort is not only a relic of Kangra's glorious past, but it also reminds one of the famous dancers, Noori. Noori was named after being influenced by Nur Jahan. Legend has it that she was far more beautiful than Noor Jahan. Noor Jahan was envious of Nuri's beauty and Noor Jahan did not want Nuri to show any kind of dance music here. It is said that when the voice of Noori's anklets reverberated in the palace, the people living in the surrounding area also used to be mesmerized. Noori was not only well versed in the art of dance, but she also sang very well. Begum Noorjahan also loved her song, but she was envious of Noori's beauty. Noor Jahan suspected that Nuri would later woo Jahangir with her beauty, that is why he had Nuri's tongue cut off. Since then till today this fort has been deserted.
