बीरबल के गुरु

एक बार अकबर बादशाह के उस्ताद पीर साहब मक्का से चलकर दिल्ली आए। रास्ता ना जानने की वजह से उन्हें बड़ी मुश्किलों का सामना करना पड़ा था। अकबर बादशाह ने उनकी बड़ी आवभगत की। कुछ दिन आनंद लेकर पीर साहब मक्का लौट गए।

जब पीर साहब चले गए तो अकबर बादशाह ने बीरबल से पूछा - "बीरबल! क्या तुम्हारे भी कोई गुरु हैं, जैसे कि मेरे पीर साहब हैं ? यदि हैं तो वह कहां रहते हैं, कभी आते जाते भी हैं या नहीं?'

बीरबल ने कहा - "जहांपना! मेरे भी गुरु है, लेकिन वह बाहर रहते हैं। कहीं आते - जाते नहीं। हाल ही मैंने सुना है कि मेरे गुरुदेव किसी को कुछ बताते भी नहीं और कभी किसी से एक पैसा भी नहीं लेते। रुपए - पैसे का उन्हें लोग नहीं है। "

यह सुनकर बीरबल के गुरु के प्रति अकबर बादशाह के मन में श्रद्धा उत्पन्न हुई और उन्होंने बीरबल से अपने गुरु से मिलवाने का आग्रह किया।

अकबर बादशाह से बातें करके जब बीरबल रास्ते में आए, तो उन्होंने देखा कि लकड़ी बेचने वाले एक बूढ़े ने परिश्रम करके लकड़ियों का एक गट्ठर बांधा हुआ है। वह सुबह से शाम तक इधर-उधर भटका, पर किसी ने भी उसे उचित मूल्य देकर वह गट्ठर नहीं खरीदा। लाचार होकर बुढा लकड़हारा गट्ठर अपने घर वापस लिए जा रहा था।

पहले तो बीरबल ने उस लकड़ी बेचने वाले से लकड़ियों के उस गट्ठर का मूल्य पूछा, फिर उसे अपने घर ले गए और उससे बोले मालूम होता है कि तुम समय के कुचक्र में फंस कर इस दीन अवस्था में पहुंचे हो।
बीरबल ने उसे अच्छे साफ-सुथरे वस्त्रों और काली जटा इत्यादि से युक्त ब्राह्मण साधु बना दिया। उसके हाथ में रुद्राक्ष की माला दे दी, फिर एक बड़े मंदिर के पीछे मृगचर्म के आसन पर बैठा कर उससे बोले - "तुमसे मिलने बड़े - बड़े अमीर - उमराव आएंगे, पर उनसे तुम बिल्कुल मत बोलना। तुम्हें कितनी भी बहुमूल्य वस्तुएं वह क्यों ना दिखाएं, पर तू उनकी तरह आप भी मत उठाना। तुमसे जो कुछ भी पूछे, उसका जवाब मत देना। बस अपने ध्यान में रहना और सिर्फ माला फेरते रहना। ध्यान रहे, यदि इसके अलावा तुमने कोई भी हरकत की तो तुम्हारी खैर नहीं, क्योंकि मैं तुम्हारी हरकतों को देखता रहूंगा।"

बूढ़े लकड़हारे ने बीरबल की बातों को स्वीकार कर लिया। जब बीरबल को यकीन हो गया कि वह भली-भांति स्वांग कर सकता है, तब वह अकबर बादशाह के पास दरबार में गए। दरबार में उस समय सभी दरबारी उपस्थित थे। बीरबल ने अकबर बादशाह को अपने गुरु के आने की सूचना दी और कहा - "पहले तो गुरुदेव ने दर्शन देने से इनकार किया, पर मेरे खुशामद करने पर वह पधारे हैं और मंदिर के पिछले हिस्से में आसन जमाए हुए हैं। उन्होंने आप लोगों को दर्शन देना भी स्वीकार कर लिया है, लेकिन मुझे साथ आने को मना कर दिया है। यदि मैं हठ करके जाऊंगा तो सकता है, वह मुझे श्राप दे दें। अतः आप और लोगों के साथ उनके दर्शन करने के लिए जा सकते हैं। "
बीरबल को छोड़कर अकबर बादशाह के साथ सभी दरबारी गुरुदेव के दर्शन करने के लिए गए। अकबर बादशाह ने गुरुदेव के सामने जाकर सादर मस्तक झुकाया। फिर बैठकर उनसे पूछा -" गुरुजी! अपना निवास स्थान तथा शुभ नाम इस दास को भी बताने की कृपा करें।"

गुरुदेव भी किसी ऐसे - वैसे के चेले नहीं थे। अकबर बादशाह की बातें सुनी - अनसुनी करके वह अपने ध्यान में ही रहे।
अकबर बादशाह फिर बोले -" भगवान! मैं सारे हिंदुस्तान का बादशाह हूं और आपकी प्रत्येक इच्छा पूर्ण करने में समर्थ हूँ। आप कृपा करके एक बार मेरी ओर नजर उठा कर देख लें, तो मैं आपको धन्य समझूंगा।"
इस पर भी जब गुरुदेव ने ध्यान नहीं दिया तो अकबर बादशाह ने ₹10000 मूल्य का कड़ा, जिसे वह स्वयं पहने हुए थे, हाथ से उतारकर गुरुदेव के चरणों में यह सोच कर रख दिया कि लालच में शायद कुछ आशीर्वाद देकर इस बहुमूल्य कड़े को स्वीकार करें। परंतु जब नतीजा ना निकला तो निराश होकर अकबर बादशाह वहां से उठ खड़े हुए और बोले -"जो आदमी अतिथि के साथ ऐसा व्यवहार करें, उस कठोर हठी से बातें करना भी मूर्खता है। "
अकबर बादशाह को क्या पता था कि ऐसे मूर्ख से सामना होगा। उन्होंने वह कड़ा बीरबल के यहां भिजवा दिया, क्योंकि दान की वस्तु बादशाह के महल में कैसे आ सकती थी। अगले दिन गुरुदेव का सारा हाल सुना कर अकबर बादशाह ने बीरबल से पूछा -" मूर्ख मिले तो क्या करना चाहिए। "
बीरबल बोले -"उस समय चुप रहना ही अच्छा है। "
बीरबल के इस जवाब से अकबर बादशाह की रही सही मर्यादा पर भी पानी पड़ गया। उनका विचार था कि ऐसी बात पर वह बीरबल के गुरु को मूर्ख साबित करेंगे, पर उल्टे खुद मूर्ख बने।
अकबर बादशाह को चुप देखकर बीरबल बोले -"जब मैंने पहले ही उनका स्वभाव आपको बता दिया था कि उन्हें रुपए - पैसे का लालच नहीं है, कभी किसी के दरवाजे पर वह नहीं जाते और मेरे कहने पर बड़ी मुश्किल से तो वह मिलने को राजी हुए थे, फिर आपने उन्हें लालच क्यों दिया? आपने अपशब्द कह कर गुरु का अपमान किया है। आपको धन दौलत का घमंड है, इसलिए वह आप से नहीं बोले।
बीरबल की बात सुनकर अकबर बहुत लज्जित हुए।

Moral/ शिक्षा : मुर्ख के सामने चुप रहना ही श्रेयस्कर है।

Birbal Ke Guru

Once, the master of Akbar Emperor Pir Saheb came to Delhi from Mecca. He had to face many difficulties due to not knowing the way. Akbar Badshah paid him a big tribute. After some days Pir Sahab returned to Mecca.

When Pir Sahab left, Akbar Badshah asked Birbal - "Birbal! Do you also have any gurus, like my Pir Sahab? If you live, where do you live or do you ever come?"

Birbal said - "Jahanna! I have a teacher too, but he stays outside. I don't come and go anywhere. Recently I have heard that my Gurudev does not tell anyone anything and never takes a penny from anyone. Rupees - People don't have the money. "

Hearing this, Akbar emperor had reverence for Birbal's guru and requested Birbal to introduce him to his guru.

After talking to the emperor Akbar, when Birbal came in the way, he saw that an old wood seller had worked hard and tied a bundle of wood. He wandered from morning to evening here and there, but no one bought him the bundle by giving him a reasonable price. Being helpless, the old woodcutter was being taken back to his house.

First, Birbal asked the seller of the wood the value of that bundle of wood, then took it to his house and said to him that you are stuck in the vicious cycle of time and have reached this humble state.

Birbal made him a Brahmin monk with good clean clothes and black coats etc. Gave the rosary of Rudraksha in his hand, then sitting on the pedestal of the antelope behind a big temple and said to him - "You will come to meet the emir - the great emir, but do not speak to him at all. Why should you not get any valuable things?" Show, but do not raise yourself like them. Do not answer anything you ask. Just stay in your attention and just turn the garland. Remember, if you do anything other than that, you are not good, because I'll keep watching your antics. "

The old woodcutter accepted Birbal's words. When Birbal was convinced that he could disguise well, he went to the court of Akbar Badshah. All the courtiers were present in the court at that time. Birbal informed the emperor Akbar about the arrival of his guru and said - "At first Gurudev refused to give darshan, but to my delight he came and stayed in the back of the temple. He appeared to you Dena has also accepted, but I refuse to come along. If I stubbornly go, he may curse me. So you can go to see more people with him. "

All the courtiers except Birbal went to see Gurudev with the emperor. Akbar Badshah bowed in front of Gurudev and bowed with respect. Then he sat down and asked him - "Guruji! Please show me your residence and auspicious name even to this slave."

Gurudev too was not a disciple of any kind. Akbar listened to the emperor - he kept his attention unheard.

Akbar Badshah again said - "Lord! I am the king of all India and I am able to fulfill every wish you have. Once you look at me with kindness, I will consider you blessed."

Even when Gurudev did not pay attention, Akbar Badshah took a bracelet worth ₹ 10000, which he himself was wearing, removed it from the hand and placed it at the feet of Gurudev thinking that he might accept some precious blessing in greed Do it But when the result did not come, disappointed Akbar emperor stood up from there and said - "It is foolish to talk to a man who treats a guest like that.

What did the Akbar emperor know that he would face such a fool. He sent the bracelet to Birbal, because how could the object of charity come to the king's palace. The next day, after hearing the whole situation of Gurudev, the Emperor Akbar asked Birbal - "What should we do if we find a fool."

Birbal said - "It is good to be silent at that time."

By this answer of Birbal, the true dignity of Akbar emperor also got water. He thought that on such a thing he would prove Birbal's guru a fool, but on the contrary, he himself became a fool.

On seeing the emperor Akbar silent, Birbal said - "When I had already told you his nature that he does not have the greed for money - money, he never goes to anybody's door and he agrees to meet me with great difficulty. Were, then why did you lure them? You have insulted the Guru by saying profanity. You are proud of money and wealth, so he did not speak to you.

Akbar was very ashamed to listen to Birbal.
