आज जिस पौधे की बात करने जा रहे हैं वो बड़े काम की चीज हुआ करता था, लेकिन आजकल विलुप्त होने की कगार पर है, जिसका नाम "बेहया" है। इसे अलग-अलग जगह पर अलग-अलग नाम से जाना जाता है। इसका नाम तो बेहया है पर काम अमृत जैसा है।

पोस्ट डालते वक्त बचपन की एक बात याद आ रही है कि प्रतिवर्ष छठ घाट में घाट की सफाई करते हुए लोग इस पौधे को कोसते हुए बोला करते थे कि "अरे एके केतनो साफ कर, ई बेहया ह फिर से जाम जाई।" उस वक्त पर इसके गुनों की बिल्कुल भी जानकारी नहीं थी। आज इसके गुना की चर्चा कर रही हूं।

बेशरम/बेहया/थेथर एक किस्म का पौधा है। बेहया को स्थानीय भाषा में बेशर्म के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। बेहया भारत में बड़ी ही आसानी से हर जगह देखा जा सकता है। इस पौधे में बहुत सुंदर गुलाबी रंग के फूल खिलते हैं। यह पौधा अक्सर सड़कों के किनारे, खाली जगह पर, नदी, तालाब, नहर आदि के किनारे अपने आप ही उग जाते हैं। इनकी खासियत होती है कि यह कठिन से कठिन परिस्थिति में भी जिंदा रहते हैं। यह पौधा कभी सूखता या मरता नहीं है। इसलिए इसे बेशर्म कहा जाता है। 

कम पानी या कम धूप में भी यह मुरझाते नहींहैं। अगर बेहया पौधे की टहनियों को तोड़कर कहीं भी फेंक दिया जाए तो ये वहीं खुद ही उगने लगता है। ये कही भी किसी भी हाल में उग जाता है। इसे पानी में भी उगाया जा सकता है। यह पौधा पानी में सड़ता नहीं है। जंगली जानवर भी इस पौधे को नहीं खाते क्योंकि यह एक ज़हरीला पौधा होता है। बेहया के ज़हर के कारण इंसान भी इसे खा नहीं सकता। इसका उपयोग केवल बाहरी रूप से किया जाता है, अंदरूनी रूप से नहीं। 

चलिए जानते हैं इसके गुणों के बारे में

बेहया की पत्तियां, टहनियां और दूध को प्राचीन समय से ही लोग कई स्वास्थ्य समस्याएं ठीक करने में इस्तेमाल करते चले आ रहे हैं। बेहया से कीटनाशक भी बनाया जाता है, जिसके छिड़काव से फसलों पर लगने वाले कीटो का नाश होता है। बेहया का इस्तेमाल कम लोग ही करते हैं। गांव में तो आज भी लोग इस पौधे का प्रयोग कर पुराने घाव भरते हैं, लेकिन शहरों में इसके बारे में बहुत कम लोग जानते है। 

घाव ठीक करने में मददगार

बेहया में एंटीबैक्टीरियल एंटीमाइक्रोबियल और एंटीऑक्सिडेंट्स गुण पाए जाते हैं। इसलिए बेहया पौधे का इस्तेमाल घाव भरने में अधिक किया जाता है। इसकी पत्तियों पर तेल लगाकर हल्का गर्म कर चोट या घाव पर लगाने से घाव जल्दी भर जाते हैं। माना जाता है कि पुराने घाव भरने में भी बेहया काफी कारगर होता है। 

दर्द से दिलाए राहत

यह दर्द भी कम करता है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि इसकी पत्तियां पट्टी के रूप में लगाने से सारा दर्द खींच लेती हैं और दर्द से राहत दिलाती हैं। इसमें दर्द को कम करने वाले गुण मौजूद होते हैं। इस पौधे का इस्तेमाल पुरानी चोट से हो रहे दर्द को भी कम करने की क्षमता रखता है। इसलिए चोट लगने पर चिकित्सक के पास नहीं जाना चाहते तो यह पौधा आपकी मदद कर सकता है। 

सूजन

बेशर्म पौधे में सूजन रोधी गुण यानि एंटी इंफ्लामेटरी गुण पाए जाते हैं। इसकी पत्तियों को गर्म करके सूजी हुई त्वचा पर लगाने से सूजन ठीक हो जाती है। बेहया की पत्तियों से बने लेप को सूजी त्वचा पर लगाने से भी सूजन काम होती है। यह सूजन को 3 से 4 घंटे में ही ठीक करने लगता है। इस तरीके से पुरानी से पुरानी सूजन भी ठीक की जा सकती है। सूजन को कम करने के लिए प्राचीन समय से इस पौधे को काफी लाभकारी माना जाता है। 

जहर को कम करता है

बेशर्म की टहनियों और पत्तों को तोड़ने पर एक प्रकार का दूध निकलता है। बिच्छू के डंक मारने पर यदि यह दूध लगाया जाए तो इससे धीरे-धीरे ज़हर का असर कम होने लगता है। यही नहीं बेहया के पत्तो का लेप भी बिच्छू के डंक पर लगाकर ज़हर के असर को रोका जा सकता है। वो कहते हैं न जहर ही जहर को काटता है। 

चर्म रोग के लिए फायदेमंद

बेशर्म को चर्म रोग ठीक करने में भी प्रयोग किया जाता है। इसके एंटीफंगल गुण चर्म रोग को ठीक करने में सक्षम होते हैं। इसके लिए इस पौधे की जड़ को उखाड़कर और सुखाकर पीस लें और उसमें कपूर का तेल मिलाकर प्रभावित त्वचा पर लगाएं। इससे विटिलिगो जैसे चर्म रोग भी ठीक हो सकते है और तो और बेहया दाद को भी ठीक करने में बहुत लाभदायक माना जाता है। इसके पत्ते त्वचा संबंधी अन्य कई विकारों में भी काम आते हैं।

 नोट - बेहया का पौधा बहुत लाभदायक है, पर जहरीला है। इसलिए ध्यान रहे इसे खाना नहीं है। केवल उपरी तौर पर ही इसका प्रयोग लाभ देता है।

Very beautiful pink flowers bloom in this plant. This plant often grows on its own on the roadside, in empty places, on the banks of rivers, ponds, canals etc. Its specialty is that it survives even in the most difficult conditions. This plant never dries or dies. That is why it is called shameless.

It does not wilt even in less water or less sunlight. If the branches of the Behaiya plant are broken and thrown anywhere, it starts growing there itself. It grows anywhere in any condition. It can also be grown in water. This plant does not rot in water. Wild animals also do not eat this plant because it is a poisonous plant. Due to the poison of Behaiya, even humans cannot eat it. It is used only externally, not internally.

Let's know about its properties

Behaiya leaves, branches and milk have been used by people since ancient times to cure many health problems. Insecticide is also made from Behaya, the spraying of which kills the pests on the crops. Very few people use Behaya. Even today, people in villages heal old wounds using this plant, but very few people know about it in cities.

Helpful in healing wounds

Antibacterial, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties are found in Behaya. Therefore, Behaya plant is used more in healing wounds. By applying oil on its leaves, heating it slightly and applying it on the injury or wound, the wound heals quickly. It is believed that Behaya is also very effective in healing old wounds.

Provides relief from pain

It also reduces pain. It is believed that applying its leaves as a bandage draws out all the pain and provides relief from pain. It contains pain-reducing properties. The use of this plant has the ability to reduce the pain caused by old injuries. Therefore, if you do not want to go to the doctor in case of injury, then this plant can help you.

Inflammation

Anti-inflammatory properties are found in Besharam plant. By heating its leaves and applying them on the swollen skin, the swelling is cured. Applying a paste made from Besharam leaves on the swollen skin also reduces swelling. It starts curing the swelling within 3 to 4 hours. In this way, even the most chronic swelling can be cured. This plant is considered very beneficial since ancient times for reducing swelling.

Reduces poison

When the branches and leaves of Besharam are broken, a type of milk comes out. If this milk is applied on a scorpion sting, then the effect of the poison gradually starts reducing. Not only this, the effect of poison can also be stopped by applying a paste of Besharam leaves on the scorpion sting. It is said that only poison bites poison.

Beneficial for skin diseases

Besharam is also used to cure skin diseases. Its antifungal properties are capable of curing skin diseases. For this, uproot the root of this plant, dry it and grind it, add camphor oil to it and apply it on the affected skin. This can also cure skin diseases like vitiligo and is also considered very beneficial in curing behaya ringworm. Its leaves are also useful in many other skin related disorders.

Note - Behaya plant is very beneficial, but it is poisonous. So be careful not to eat it. Its use only externally gives benefits.
