शांति स्तूप

बिहार के नालंदा जिले के राजगीर में वैसे तो कई पर्यटक और तीर्थ स्थल है, जिसकी चर्चा मैंने पिछले ब्लॉग में की है। इस क्रम को आज और आगे बढ़ाते हैं और चलते हैं "विश्व शांति स्तूप" जो राजगीर का प्रमुख आकर्षण है। बौद्ध धर्म मानने वालों के लिए यह बेहद खास है। ऐसा कहा जाता है कि भगवान बुद्ध खुद भी यहां तीन बार आए थे।

यह स्तूप 400 मीटर ऊंची रत्नागिरी पहाड़ी पर स्थित है। जैसा कि नाम है शांति स्तूप, वैसे ही यहाँ बेहद सुकून और शांति है। मौसम भी खुशनुमा है। संगमरमर के पत्थरों से बने इस विश्व शांति स्तूप में भगवान बुद्ध की चार स्वर्ण प्रतिमाएं हैं। ये चार स्वर्ण प्रतिमाएं जीवन के चार चरणों जन्म, ज्ञान, उपदेश और मृत्यु को दर्शाती हैं।

यह स्तूप संगमरमर के पत्थरों से निर्मित है और स्तूप के चार कोनों में बुद्ध की चार आकर्षक मूर्तियाँ है जो इस स्तूप को और भी मनमोहक बनाती हैं। विश्व शांति स्तूप के चारों तरफ बने प्रदक्षिणा पथ से राजगीर का सुंदर नजारा देखने को मिलता है। चारों ओर बिखरी हरियाली और प्राकृतिक सुंदरता हमलोगों को यहां कुछ और देर तक रुकने के लिए कह रही है।

इस पहाड़ी की चोटी तक पहुँचने के लिए "रोपवे" से होकर आना पड़ता है जो इस सफर को और भी रोमांचक बनाता है। इस स्थान की नैसर्गिक और प्राकृतिक सुंदरता इस जगह को बेहद खूबसूरत बनाती है। वैसे यहाँ ट्रैकिंग करके भी पहुँच सकते हैं, पर हमने रोपवे ही चुना।

जैसा कि हमने यहाँ आने के पहले सुना था कि इस डेढ़ किलोमीटर लंबे रोपवे में एक के पीछे एक करके कई कुर्सी लगी हैं और कुर्सी पर सिर्फ एक ही व्यक्ति बैठ सकता है, जो खुली हुई रहती है और पहाड़ी पर गुजरने के दौरान डर भी पैदा करती है। लोग इसका आनंद भी लेते हैं, पर यहाँ पहुँचने के बाद पता लगा कि कुर्सी वाली रोपवे के पैरेलल ही केबिन रोपवे चल रही है और हमलोग केबिन रोपवे से ही ऊपर गए। हम रोपवे से ऊपर जाते हुए यहां की प्राकृतिक सुंदरता को करीब से निहार सकते हैं।

यहां गर्मी काफी पड़ती है इसलिए गर्मी में यहां आने से बचना चाहिए। यहां आने का सबसे अच्छा समय फरवरी से मार्च और सितंबर से नवंबर के बीच का है। हम यहाँ मार्च के दूसरे हफ्ते में थे (पोस्ट थोड़ी देर से डल रही), इस समय पर मौसम खुशनुमा था, न गर्मी थी न सर्दी।

विश्व शांति स्तूप को जापान के प्रमुख बौद्ध समूह से जुड़े भिक्षु निशिदात्सु फूजी गुरुजी ने बनवाया था। इसका शिलान्यास राष्ट्रपति डॉ सर्वपल्ली राधाकृष्णन ने 1965 में किया था और इसका उद्घाटन राष्ट्रपति वीवी गिरि ने साल 1969 में किया। इस जगह के पास ही में भगवान बु्द्ध का प्रिय स्थल गृद्धकूट है। यहां आने वाले पर्यटक गृद्धकूट भी जरूर जाते हैं। भगवान बुद्ध ने यहां काफी समय बिताया था।

राजगीर की तरह ही वैशाली, पटना, गया, सारनाथ, दिल्ली और नेपाल के लुंबिनी में भी इसी तरह का स्तूप बना हुआ है।

Shanti Stupa

There are many tourist and pilgrimage places in Rajgir of Nalanda district of Bihar, which I have discussed in the previous blog. Today let us take this sequence further and visit "Vishwa Shanti Stupa" which is the main attraction of Rajgir. This is very special for those who believe in Buddhism. It is said that Lord Buddha himself came here three times.

This stupa is situated on the 400 meter high Ratnagiri hill. As the name suggests, Shanti Stupa, there is immense peace and tranquility here. The weather is also pleasant. This Vishwa Shanti Stupa made of marble stones has four golden statues of Lord Buddha. These four golden statues represent the four stages of life: birth, knowledge, teachings and death.

This stupa is made of marble stones and there are four attractive statues of Buddha in the four corners of the stupa which makes this stupa even more attractive. A beautiful view of Rajgir can be seen from the circumambulation path built around Vishwa Shanti Stupa. The greenery and natural beauty scattered all around is asking us to stay here for some more time.

To reach the top of this hill one has to come through "ropeway" which makes this journey even more exciting. The scenic and natural beauty of this place makes this place very beautiful. Although one can reach here by trekking also, we chose ropeway only.

As we had heard before coming here that in this one and a half kilometer long ropeway, there are many chairs installed one after the other and only one person can sit on the chair, which remains open and also creates fear while passing over the hill. Does it. People also enjoy it, but after reaching here we found out that the cabin ropeway is running parallel to the chair ropeway and we went up through the cabin ropeway only. We can admire the natural beauty of this place closely by going up the ropeway.

It is very hot here, hence one should avoid coming here in summer. The best time to visit here is between February to March and September to November. We were here in the second week of March (post being delayed for a while), the weather at this time was pleasant, neither hot nor cold.

Vishwa Shanti Stupa was built by Nishidatsu Fuji Guruji, a monk associated with Japan's leading Buddhist group. Its foundation stone was laid by President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan in 1965 and it was inaugurated by President VV Giri in the year 1969. Near this place is Gridhkoot, the favorite place of Lord Buddha. Tourists coming here also definitely visit Gridhakoot. Lord Buddha spent a lot of time here.
