गोवा का राज्य पशु "गौर"

गोवा भारत का मात्र 2 जिलों उत्तरी गोवा और दक्षिणी गोवा का एक छोटा सा राज्य है। ये क्षेत्रफल की दृष्टि से भारत का सबसे छोटा राज्य और जनसँख्या की दृष्टि से चौथा सबसे छोटा राज्य है। गोवा का राज्य पशु गौर है, जिसे भारतीय बाइसन भी कहा जाता है। इसका प्राणीशास्त्रीय नाम "बोस गौरस" है। यह बिहार राज्य का भी राजकीय पशु है।

गौर निवास स्थान के रूप में सदाबहार और नम पर्णपाती क्षेत्रों में रहना पसंद करते हैं। वे मुख्य रूप से मुदुमलाई, नागरहोल और बांदीपुर के परिसरों में पाए जाते हैं। गौर शाकाहारी होते हैं और उन जगहों पर जाना पसंद करते हैं, जहां जमीन नमक और अन्य खनिजों से भरी होती है। गौर सामाजिक प्राणी हैं, इसलिए वे समूहों में रहते हैं। इनका जीवनकाल 25 से 35 वर्ष तक होता है।

Goa is a small state of India consisting of only 2 districts, North Goa and South Goa. It is the smallest state of India in terms of area and the fourth smallest state in terms of population. The state animal of Goa is the Gaur, also known as the Indian Bison. Its zoological name is "Bos Gaurus". It is also the state animal of Bihar state.

Gaur prefers to live in evergreen and moist deciduous areas as habitat. They are mainly found in the campuses of Mudumalai, Nagarhole and Bandipur. Gaurs are herbivores and prefer to visit places where the ground is rich in salt and other minerals. Gaurs are social animals, so they live in groups. Their lifespan ranges from 25 to 35 years.

The Gaur is the largest extant bovine species and is native to the Indian subcontinent, including hilly areas. In the Goan forests and in Goa, the Gaur holds cultural and ecological significance, representing the state's natural heritage and importance to wildlife conservation.
