आज एक ऐसे कवि और लेखक की चर्चा करते हैं, जिन्हें 2016 में पद्मश्री से सम्मानित किया गया था - हलधर नाग

हलधर नाग, जिसके नाम के आगे कभी श्री नहीं लगाया गया, 3 जोड़ी कपड़े, एक टूटी रबड़ की चप्पल, एक बिन कमानी का चश्मा और जमा पूंजी 732/- रुपया। 

ये हैं ओड़िशा के हलधर नाग ।

हलधर नाग, जिनका जन्म 31 मार्च 1950 में हुआ था, ओड़ीसा के संबंलपुरी भाषा के कवि और लेखक हैं। वे "लोककवि रत्न" के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हैं। उनके बारे में विशेष बात यह है कि उन्हें अपनी लिखी सारी कविताएँ और 20 महाकाव्य कण्ठस्थ हैं। संभलपुर विश्वविद्यालय में उनके लेखन के एक संकलन "हलधर ग्रन्थावली-2" को पाठ्यक्रम का हिस्सा बनाया जाएगा। सादा लिबास, सफेद धोती, गमछा और बनियान पहने, नाग नंगे पैर ही रहते हैं। उड़‍िया के लोक-कवि हलधर नाग के बारे में जब आप जानेंगे, तो प्रेरणा से ओतप्रोत हो जायेंगे।

हलधर का जन्म 1950 में ओडिशा के बरगढ़ में एक गरीब परिवार में हुआ था। जब वे 10 वर्ष के थे तभी उनके पिता की मृत्यु के साथ हलधर का संघर्ष शुरू हो गया। तब उन्हें मजबूरी में तीसरी कक्षा के बाद स्कूल छोड़ना पड़ा। घर की अत्यन्त विपन्न स्थिति के कारण मिठाई की दुकान में बर्तन धोने पड़े। दो साल बाद गाँव के सरपंच ने हलधर को पास ही के एक स्कूल में खाना पकाने के लिए नियुक्त कर दिया, जहाँ उन्होंने 16 वर्ष तक काम किया। जब उन्हें लगा कि उनके गाँव में बहुत सारे विद्यालय खुल रहे हैं, तो उन्होंने एक बैंक से सम्पर्क किया और स्कूली बच्चों के लिए स्टेशनरी और खाने-पीने की एक छोटी सी दुकान शुरू करने के लिए 1000 रुपये का ऋण लिया। यह दुकान स्कूल के सामने थी, जहाँ वो छुट्टी के समय बैठते थे। 

कुछ समय पश्चात हलधर नाग ने स्थानीय उड़िया भाषा में ''राम-शबरी'' जैसे कुछ धार्मिक प्रसंगों पर लिखकर लोगों को सुनाना शुरू किया। उन्होंने भावनाओं से ओत प्रोत कवितायें लिखी, शुरुवाती दौर में जिन्हें नाग जबरन लोगों के बीच प्रस्तुत करते थे। धीरे - धीरे उनकी लोकप्रियता बढ़ने लगी। 

1990 में हलधर ने पहली कविता "धोधो बारगाजी" (अर्थ : 'पुराना बरगद') नाम से लिखी, जिसे एक स्थानीय पत्रिका ने छापा और उसके बाद हलधर की सभी कविताओं को पत्रिका में जगह मिलती रही और वे आस-पास के गाँवों से भी कविता सुनाने के लिए बुलाए जाने लगे। लोगों को हलधर की कविताएँ इतनी पसन्द आईं कि वे उन्हें "लोक कविरत्न" के नाम से बुलाने लगे।

नाग पर PHD कर रहे रिसर्चर्स

अब उनकी लोकप्रियता इतनी बढ़ चुकी थी कि सन 2016 में हलधर नाग को भारत के राष्ट्रपति के द्वारा साहित्य के लिये पद्मश्री प्रदान किया। इतना ही नहीं अब 5 रिसर्चर्स हलधर नाग के साहित्य पर PHd कर रहे हैं, जबकि हलधर खुद केवल तीसरी कक्षा तक ही पढ़े हैं। हलधर नाग को पदम्श्री से सम्मानित करने और उनपर रिसर्चर्स के PHD करने पर कहा गया है कि

 ''आप किताबों में प्रकृति को चुनते है, 
पद्मश्री ने प्रकृति से किताबें चुनी हैं।''

2021 में सोशल मिडिया पर एक पोस्ट वायरल हुई थी "साहिब - दिल्ही आने तक के पैसे नहीं हैं, कृपया पुरुस्कार डाक से भिजवा दो।"

डा. हलधर नाग को लेकर इंटरनेट मीडिया में एक गलत पोस्ट वायरल हुई थी। इस पोस्ट को लेकर नाग ने कड़ी नाराजगी जताते हुए कहा था कि उनके नाम पर किया गया पोस्ट पूरी तरह झूठा और मनगढ़ंत है। ऐसे पोस्ट से वे काफी दुखी और आहत हैं। वायरल पोस्ट में कहा गया है कि पद्मश्री पुरस्कार लेने के लिए हलधर नाग के पास दिल्ली जाने के पैसे नहीं हैं और इस संबंध में सरकार को पत्र लिखकर नाग ने आग्रह किया है कि उनका पुरस्कार डाक से भेज दिया जाय।

नाग ने कहा कि शरारतपूर्ण तरीके से यह झूठी जानकारी वायरल की गई है। सच तो यह है कि उन्हें इस वर्ष नहीं बल्कि 2016 में पद्मश्री का पुरस्कार मिला था। 2016 में भी जब पद्मश्री पुरस्कार लेने के लिए उन्हें दिल्ली बुलाया गया था तब उन्होंने सरकार को अपनी गरीबी का हवाला देते हुए कोई पत्र नहीं लिखा था और न ही पदमश्री पुरस्कार को डाक से भेज देने की बात कही थी। लोककवि डा. हलधर नाग ने कहा कि पद्मश्री पुरस्कार से पहले से ही ओडिशा के मुख्यमंत्री नवीन पटनायक की ओर से उन्हें कलाकार भत्ता दिया जा रहा था। ओडिशा सरकार ने उन्हें रहने के लिए जमीन भी दी है, जिसपर बरगढ़ के एक डाक्टर ने अपने खर्च से मकान भी बनवा दिया है। वर्तमान में उन्हें सरकार की ओर से साढ़े 18 हजार रुपये का मासिक भत्ता भी मिलता है।

These are the Haldhar Nag of Odisha.

Haldhar Nag, born 31 March 1950, is a poet and writer from the Sambalpuri language of Orissa. He is popularly known as "Lokkavi Ratna". The special thing about him is that he has memorized all his poems and 20 epics. A compilation of his writings "Haldhar Granthavali-2" will be made part of the curriculum at Sambhalpur University. Wearing plain clothes, white dhoti, gamchha and vest, the snakes remain barefoot. When you learn about the Oriya folk-poet Haldhar Nag, you will be filled with inspiration.

Haldhar was born in 1950 in a poor family in Bargarh, Odisha. Haldhar's struggle began with the death of his father when he was 10 years old. Then he was forced to leave school after the third grade. Due to the very poor condition of the house, the dishes had to be washed in the sweet shop. Two years later, the village sarpanch appointed Haldhar to cook at a nearby school, where he worked for 16 years. When he realized that too many schools were opening in his village, he approached a bank and took a loan of Rs 1000 to start a small shop for stationery and food for school children. This shop was in front of the school, where he used to sit during the holidays.

After some time Haldhar Nag started narrating to the people by writing on some religious themes like "Ram-Shabri" in the local Oriya language. He wrote poems full of emotion, which in the early stages were forcibly presented among the people by the serpents. Gradually his popularity started increasing.

In 1990, Haldhar wrote the first poem called "Dhodho Bargazi" (meaning: 'Old Banyan') which was published by a local magazine and thereafter all Haldhar's poems continued to find place in the magazine and they were also from nearby villages. They were called to recite poetry. People liked Haldhar's poems so much that they started calling him "Lok Kaviratna".

Researchers doing PhD on Haldhar Nag

Now his popularity had increased so much that in 2016, Haldhar Nag was awarded Padma Shri by the President of India for literature. Not only this, now 5 researchers are doing PHd on the literature of Haldhar Nag, while Haldhar himself has studied only till the third standard. On conferring Padmashree on Haldhar Nag and doing PhD on him, it has been said that

In 2021, a post went viral on social media "Sahib - till Delhi aane ke paisa nahi hai, please send the award by post."

A wrong post had gone viral in the internet media about Dr. Haldhar Nag. Expressing strong displeasure over this post, Nag had said that the post made in his name is completely false and concocted. Very sad and hurt by such post. The viral post states that Haldhar Nag has no money to go to Delhi to receive the Padma Shri award and in this regard, Nag has written a letter to the government requesting that his award be sent by post.

Nag said that this false information has been made viral in a mischievous manner. The truth is that he got the Padma Shri award in 2016 and not this year. Even in 2016, when he was called to Delhi to receive the Padma Shri award, he did not write any letter to the government citing his poverty, nor did he talk about sending the Padma Shri award by post. Folk poet Dr. Haldhar Nag said that even before the Padma Shri award, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was giving him artist allowance. The Odisha government has also given them land to live on, on which a doctor from Bargarh has also built a house at his own expense. At present, they also get a monthly allowance of Rs 18,000 from the government.
