नूरपुर फोर्ट

भारतीय इतिहास में देश के अलग-अलग जगहों पर मौजूद किलो का एक महत्वपूर्ण स्थान है। देश में ऐसे बहुत सारे किले हैं, जो वास्तुकला का नायाब उदाहरण हैं और इनकी खूबसूरती किसी को भी अपना दीवाना बना सकती है। इन खूबसूरत इमारतों के पीछे की कहानी काफी दिलचस्प होती है। आज हम यहां ऐसे ही किले की चर्चा करेंगे, जिसको "नूरपुर फोर्ट" कहते हैं। नूरपुर किला परिसर काफी बड़ा है तथा यहां एक भव्य मंदिर के भी खंडहर मौजूद हैं।

मुगल और सिख राजाओं द्वारा बना किला 

हिमाचल प्रदेश के कांगड़ा जिले में स्थित ऐतिहासिक किला नूरपुर फोर्ट के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है। नूरपुर किले को पहले धामणी किले के रूप में जाना जाता था। इस खूबसूरत किले का निर्माण 16वीं शताब्दी के अंत में पठानकोट के शासक राजा बसु देव ने करवाया था। आगे चलकर इस किले में कई निर्माण हुए। इस फोर्ट का कुछ हिस्सा मुगल काल में बनाया गया था और कुछ सीख राजाओं के राज में।

यहाँ सूर्य की लालिमा के साथ तालाब का पानी रंग भी बदलता था

इस किले पर कई राजाओं ने शासन किया। किले का प्रवेश द्वार भी अपने आप में बेहद आकर्षण का केंद्र है। किले के अंदर कुएं व तालाब भी काफी आकर्षक हैं। यहां मौजूद एक तालाब के बारे में कहा जाता है कि यह सूर्य की लालिमा के साथ अपना रंग भी बदलता था, जो अब तालाब में फैली गंदगी के कारण नहीं दिखाई देता। नूरपुर के इस किले में जहांगीर ने भी कुछ समय तक राज किया था। उसी समय जहांगीर की पत्नी नूरजहां यहां आई थी।

इस नूरपुर फोर्ट का संबंध भगवान श्री कृष्ण और उनकी भक्त मीराबाई के साथ भी है। साथ ही मुगल बादशाह जहांगीर की 20वीं और सबसे प्रिय बेगम नूरजहां के साथ भी है।

यहाँ होती है भगवान कृष्ण के साथ मीराबाई की पूजा 

किले के अंतिम शासक राजा जगत सिंह थे। 16वीं शताब्दी में उनके समय में यहां ब्रिज स्वामी मंदिर की भी स्थापना हुई थी। इस मंदिर में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की बेहद मनमोहक प्रतिमा व साथ में मीरा की मूर्ति है। नूरपुर  किले में मौजूद इस प्राचीन मंदिर में भगवान श्री कृष्ण और मीरा बाई की मूर्तियां एक साथ मौजूद हैं। यह उन कुछ स्थानों में से एक है जहां भगवान कृष्ण और मीरा बाई दोनों की पूजा साथ होती है। अन्यथा भारत में भगवान श्री कृष्ण के साथ हमेशा देवी राधा की ही पूजा की जाती है। स्थानीय लोगों का कहना है कि इस मंदिर में अब भी रात को मीरा के घुंघरूओं की आवाज सुनाई देती है।

मुगल शासक जहांगीर की सबसे प्रिय पत्नी नूरजहां पहली बार जब यहां आई थी, तब धामणी शहर का नाम बदलकर नूरपुर रख दिया गया था। नूरजहां को यह किला और यहां का प्राकृतिक सौंदर्य इतना पसंद आया था कि वह धामणी को छोड़कर जाना नहीं चाहती थी और तभी से धामणी को नूरपुर कहा जाने लगा।

संक्रामक रोग का बहाना बनाकर नूरजहां को शहर से निकाला गया 

स्थानीय राजा मुगलों की उपस्थिति यहां नहीं चाहते थे। वहां के राजा मुगलों की उपस्थिति को गुलामी समझते थे। इसलिए उन्होंने एक संक्रामक रोग का बहाना बनाकर नूरजहां को शहर से चले जाने के लिए मना लिया था। अपनी खूबसूरती को बचाने के लिए नूरजहां वहां से चली गई। इस तरह बिना किसी लड़ाई और खून खराबे के ही नूरपुर राजपूत राजाओं के पास रह गया।

अपने वास्तुकला के लिए प्रसिद्ध नूरपुर किला 

नूरपुर किले के दीवारों पर पक्षियों, जानवरों, पुरुषों, बच्चों, महिलाओं, राजाओं तथा देवी- देवताओं की आकृतियां उकेरी गई हैं। किले की छत नक्काशीदार है, जो इसकी खूबसूरती को चार चांद लगाती रही होगी। नूरपुर फोर्ट के बगल से रावी नदी गुजरती है, जिसका नजारा बेहद खूबसूरत है।

आज के समय में यह किला एक खंडहर में तब्दील हो चुका है। वैसे तो यहां और पूरी साफ सफाई है। कुछ हिस्सा ही बचा हुआ है, जिसको देख कर उस समय की नक्काशी का अनुमान लगाया जा सकता है। 1849 में यह किला अंग्रेजों के अधीन आ गया था। तब अंग्रेजों ने इस किले का ज्यादातर हिस्सा तहस-नहस कर डाला था और बाकी का हिस्सा 1905 में आए भूकंप के दौरान बर्बाद हो गया। अब इस किले के खंडहर ही इसकी खूबसूरती बयां करते हैं। इसका रखरखाव इन दिनों पुरातत्व विभाग के हाथों है।

नूरी से जलती थी नूरजहाँ, उसने नूरी की जीभ कटवा दी थी

नूरपुर का किला ना सिर्फ कांगड़ा के गौरवशाली अतीत का अवशेष मात्र है, परंतु यह यहां की एक प्रसिद्ध नर्तकी नूरी की भी याद दिलाता है। नूरी का नाम नूरजहां से प्रभावित होकर रखा गया था। किवदंती है कि वह नूरजहां से भी कहीं बहुत ज्यादा खूबसूरत थी। नूरी की सुंदरता से नूरजहां जलती थी और नूरजहां नहीं चाहती थी कि नूरी किसी भी तरह की नृत्य संगीत को यहां दिखाए। कहा जाता है कि नूरी के पायल की आवाज जब महल में गूंजती थी तो आसपास के इलाके में रहने वाले लोग भी मंत्रमुग्ध हो जाया करते थे । नूरी मात्र नृत्य कला की ही पारंगत नहीं थी, अपितु वह बहुत अच्छा गाना भी गाती थी। बेगम नूरजहां को भी उनका गाना बेहद पसंद था, परंतु वह नूरी की खूबसूरती से जलती थी। नूरजहां को यह शक हुआ कि नूरी आगे चलकर जहांगीर को अपनी सुंदरता से लुभा लेगी, इसी वजह से उसने नूरी की जीभ कटवा दी थी। तब से लेकर आज तक यह किला सुनसान पड़ा है।

The historical fort located in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh is famous by the name of Nurpur Fort. Nurpur Fort was earlier known as Dhamani Fort. This beautiful fort was built in the late 16th century by Raja Basu Dev, the ruler of Pathankot. Later many constructions took place in this fort. Some part of this fort was built during the Mughal period and some under the rule of Sikh kings.

Many kings ruled this fort. The entrance of the fort is also a center of attraction in itself. The wells and ponds inside the fort are also very attractive. It is said about a pond present here that it also changed its color with the redness of the sun, which is no longer visible due to the dirt spread in the pond. Jahangir also ruled for some time in this fort of Nurpur. At the same time Jahangir's wife Nur Jahan came here.

This Nurpur Fort is also associated with Lord Krishna and his devotee Mirabai. Along with this, the 20th and most beloved Begum of Mughal emperor Jahangir is also with Nur Jahan.

Here Meerabai is worshiped with Lord Krishna

The last ruler of the fort was Raja Jagat Singh. The Brij Swami temple was also established here during his time in the 16th century. In this temple there is a very beautiful statue of Lord Krishna along with the idol of Meera. The idols of Lord Shri Krishna and Meera Bai are present together in this ancient temple present in the Nurpur Fort. It is one of the few places where both Lord Krishna and Meera Bai are worshiped together. Otherwise Goddess Radha is always worshiped along with Lord Shri Krishna in India. Local people say that even now the sound of Meera's Ghungroos is heard in this temple at night.

When Nur Jahan, the most beloved wife of Mughal ruler Jahangir, came here for the first time, the name of the city of Dhamani was changed to Nurpur. Nur Jahan liked this fort and its natural beauty so much that she did not want to leave Dhamani and since then Dhamani came to be called Nurpur.

Noor Jahan was expelled from the city on the pretext of infectious disease

The local kings did not want the presence of the Mughals here. The kings there considered the presence of the Mughals as slavery. So he convinced Nur Jahan to leave the city on the pretext of an infectious disease. To save her beauty, Noor Jahan left from there. In this way, Nurpur remained with the Rajput kings without any fight and bloodshed.

Nurpur Fort famous for its architecture

The figures of birds, animals, men, children, women, kings and gods and goddesses have been carved on the walls of Nurpur Fort. The roof of the fort is carved, which must have been adding to its beauty. Ravi river passes through Nurpur Fort, whose view is very beautiful.

In today's time this fort has turned into a ruin. By the way, there is complete cleanliness here. Only some part is left, by looking at which the carving of that time can be estimated. In 1849 this fort came under the British. Then the British destroyed most of this fort and the rest was ruined during the earthquake of 1905. Now only the ruins of this fort tell its beauty. Its maintenance is in the hands of the Archaeological Department these days.

Noor Jahan was jealous of Nuri, she had Nuri's tongue cut off

The Nurpur Fort is not only a relic of Kangra's glorious past, but it also reminds one of the famous dancers, Noori. Noori was named after being influenced by Nur Jahan. Legend has it that she was far more beautiful than Noor Jahan. Noor Jahan was envious of Nuri's beauty and Noor Jahan did not want Nuri to show any kind of dance music here. It is said that when the voice of Noori's anklets reverberated in the palace, the people living in the surrounding area also used to be mesmerized. Noori was not only well versed in the art of dance, but she also sang very well. Begum Noorjahan also loved her song, but she was envious of Noori's beauty. Noor Jahan suspected that Nuri would later woo Jahangir with her beauty, that is why he had Nuri's tongue cut off. Since then till today this fort has been deserted.
