सदा सच बोलो

झूठ बोलने का तात्पर्य कुछ ऐसा कहने से होता है, जो व्यक्ति जानता है कि गलत है या जिसकी सत्यता पर व्यक्ति ईमानदारी से विश्वास नहीं करता और यह इस इरादे से कहा जाता है कि व्यक्ति उसे सत्य मानेगा। 

सदा सच बोलने का पाठ हमें बचपन से पढाया जाता है, पर हमें सबसे बडा झटका उस वक्त लगता है, जब सच बोलने पर हमें पहली बार डांट पडती है और यहीं से हमारे सामाजिक जीवन में झूठ की एंट्री होती है। छोटी उम्र में ही हमें किताबी उपदेशों और व्यावहारिक जीवन का फर्क बखूबी समझ आने लगता है।

सच बोलना सचमुच बहुत अच्छी बात है, लेकिन ऐसा सच किस काम का जिससे किसी मासूम बच्चे का दिल टूट जाए, किसी के रिश्ते में दरार पड जाए..। ऐसा सच, सच तो जरूर है, पर प्रिय नहीं। तभी तो कहा गया है-

सत्यम् प्रियम् ब्रूयात्,

न ब्रूयात् सत्यम् अप्रियम्।

प्रियंच नानृतम् ब्रूयात्

एष धर्म: सनातना।।

मानव-स्वभाव को ध्यान में रखते हुए कहा जा सकता है कि अपनी सुविधाओं के अनुसार मनुष्य झूठ बोलने से बाज नहीं आता, जिससे उसे तो राहत मिल जाती है, लेकिन व्यापक स्तर पर अन्य सदस्यों को इसकी कीमत चुकानी पड़ती है, इसलिए लोगों के बीच यह सूक्ति प्रचलित एवं प्रचारित है कि ‘सच बोलने से बड़ा दूसरा कोई तप (तपस्या) नहीं और झूठ बोलने से बड़ा कोई पाप नहीं’ ।

कहा जा सकता है कि सत्य बोलना बहुत हद तक सामाजिक मूल्यों की कुंजी है, जिससे सभी सामाजिक मूल्य सम्बन्धित हैं । इसके ठीक विपरीत झूठ बोलना सबसे बढ़ा व्यक्तिगत एवं सामाजिक दुर्गुण है ।

राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गाँधी के दर्शन के दो ही मूल आधार हैं- सत्य एवं अहिंसा । गाँधीजी ने इस तथ्य को पहचाना कि यदि लोगों में सत्य के प्रति आस्था जगा दी जाए, तो समाज की नैतिकता का स्तर स्वतः ही अत्यधिक ऊँचा उठ जाएगा ।

सभी नैतिकताओं की जड़ यही है, इसलिए उन्होंने सत्य बोलने पर इतना अधिक जोर दिया । वस्तुतः सत्य के मार्ग पर चलने वाले साहसी एवं वीर, जबकि सत्य से दूर भागने वाले भीरु एवं कायर कहलाते हैं ।

सत्य आत्मसम्मान का प्रतीक है और यह मनुष्य को स्वाभिमानी बनाता है, जबकि असत्य आत्मग्लानि को विकसित करता है । ‘सत्य’ को ‘ईश्वर’ का पर्याय मानते हुए ‘कबीरदास’ ने कहा है-

साँच बराबर तप नहीं, झूठ बराबर पाप ।

जाके हिरदै साँच है, ताके हिरदै आप ।।”

आज के उत्तर-आधुनिक समाज में जहाँ उपभोक्तावादी संस्कृति की प्रधानता के कारण भौतिक सुख-सुविधाओं की उपलब्धि ही एकमात्र अन्तिम लक्ष्य बन गया है, वहाँ भौतिक सफलताओं की प्राप्ति के लिए झूठ बोलना एक सामान्य प्रचलन है ।

ऐसी स्थिति में समाज के सदस्यों की नैतिकता का पतन अपरिहार्य है। आज सामाजिक मूल्यों का ह्रास स्पष्टतः परिलक्षित है। सामाजिक मूल्यों को क्षयशील होने से बचाने के लिए ‘सत्यता’ का पालन करना अनिवार्य है, हालाँकि सत्य कथन का पालन करना सबसे कठिन ‘तप’ है ।
