बीज का घड़ा

एक समय की बात है, राजा कृष्ण देव के राज्य में भरत और कुमार नाम के दो मित्र थे। भरत ने तीर्थ यात्रा पर जाने का निर्णय किया। भरत के पास 5000 सोने की अशर्फियां थी। उसने सभी सोने की अशर्फियों को एक घड़े में डाला और ऊपर से उसमें कुछ बीज भी डाल दिए, जिससे यह प्रतीत हो कि पूरे घड़े में बीज है। वह उस घड़े को लेकर अपने मित्र कुमार के घर गया और बोला कि मैं अपने परिवार के साथ तीर्थ यात्रा के लिए जा रहा हूं। मुझे 1 वर्ष का समय लगेगा। जब तक मैं तीर्थ यात्रा से वापस आता हूं तब तक तुम यह घड़ा अपने पास संभाल कर रख लो।

कुमार ने घड़ा अपने पास रख लिया। कुछ समय व्यतीत होने के बाद कुमार के मन में यह जानने की जिज्ञासा हुई कि घड़े में क्या है? कुमार ने यह जानने के लिए कि घड़े में क्या है, पूरा घड़ा खाली कर दिया। जब उसको घड़े में नीचे सोने की अशर्फियां मिली तब वह बहुत खुश हुआ और उसके मन में लालच आ गया। उसने सभी सोने के अशर्फियों को निकाल लिया और बाजार से नए बीज लाकर घड़े में भर दिया। 

कुछ दिनों बाद जब भरत तीर्थ यात्रा से लौटा तो उसने कुमार से अपना घड़ा मांगा। कुमार ने उसको वह घड़ा दे दिया। घड़े में सोने की अशर्फियां ना देख भरत ने कुमार से अपनी सोने की अशर्फियां मांगी। कुमार ने उसको अनजान बन कर कहा कि कौन सी सोने की अशर्फियां। तुमने तो मुझे बीजों से भरा घड़ा दिया था। इस बात को लेकर उन दोनों में बहस हो गई। 

कोई हल ना निकलता देखकर भरत कुमार को लेकर तेनाली रमन के पास गया। उसने तेनालीराम को सारी व्यथा कह सुनाया। तेनालीराम ने घड़े के बीजों को देख कर कहा कि तुम कुमार के पास घड़ा डेढ़ वर्ष पहले छोड़ गए थे।  लेकिन यह बीज तो नए लग रहे हैं। तेनालीराम ने कहा कुमार ने तुम्हारे घड़े में से सोने की अशर्फियां निकालकर इसमें नए बीज बाजार से लाकर डाल दिए हैं। 

कुमार फिर भी तेनालीराम से मना करने लगा कि उसने सोने की अशर्फियां नहीं निकाली। तेनालीराम ने कुमार को कहा कि अब तुमको भरत को 10000 सोने की अशर्फियां लौटानी होंगी। यह सुनकर कुमार आश्चर्यचकित रह गया और झटके में बोल पड़ा कि लेकिन घड़े में तो सिर्फ 5000 अशर्फियां थी। उसके यह बोलने भर की देरी थी, जिससे यह तय हो गया कि सोने की अशर्फियां उसने चुरा ली थी। भरत ने तेनाली रामा की प्रशंसा की और उस को धन्यवाद दिया।

A Jar of Seeds

Once upon a time, there were two friends named Bharat and Kumar in the kingdom of King Krishna Deva. Bharata decided to go on a pilgrimage. Bharat had 5000 gold asharfis. He put all the gold asharfis in a pitcher and also put some seeds in it from above, so that it appears that there are seeds in the whole pitcher. He took that pot and went to his friend Kumar's house and said that I am going for a pilgrimage with my family. It will take me 1 year. Keep this pot with you till I come back from pilgrimage.

Kumar kept the pitcher with him. After some time passed, Kumar had a curiosity to know what was in the pot. Kumar Naya emptied the entire pot to know what was in the pot. When he found the gold coins in the pitcher, he was very happy and greed came in his mind. He took out all the gold asharfis and brought new seeds from the market and filled them in the pitcher.

A few days later, when Bharata returned from a pilgrimage, he asked Kumar for his pot. Kumar gave him that pot. Not seeing the gold coins in the pitcher, Bharat asked Kumar for his gold coins. Kumar made her unaware that which gold asharfis. You gave me a pot full of seeds. There was an argument between them regarding this matter.

Seeing no solution, Bharata went to Tenali Raman with Kumar. He narrated all the woes to Tenaliram. Seeing the seeds of the pitcher, Tenaliram said that you had left the pot with Kumar one and a half years ago. But these seeds are looking new. Tenaliram said that Kumar has taken out the gold asharfis from your pitcher and put new seeds in it from the market.

Kumar still started refusing to Tenaliram that he did not take out the gold asharfis. Tenaliram told Kumar that now you have to return 10000 gold asharfis to Bharata. On hearing this, Kumar was surprised and said in shock that but there were only 5000 Ashrafis in the pitcher. It was only a delay of his speech, due to which it was decided that he had stolen the gold ornaments. Bharata praised Tenali Rama and thanked him.
