एक बार राजा कृष्णदेव राय अपने दरबार में बैठे थे कि तभी वहां एक चरवाहा अपनी फरियाद लेकर पहुंचा। चरवाहे को देखकर राजा कृष्णदेव ने उससे दरबार में आने की वजह पूछी। राजा कृष्णदेव राय के पूछने पर चरवाहा बोला - "महाराज! मेरे साथ बहुत अन्याय हुआ है। मेरे घर के करीब में रहने वाले एक आदमी के घर की दीवार ढह गई, जिससे उसके नीचे आने की वजह से मेरी बकरी मर गई। जब मैंने उससे अपनी मरी हुई बकरी का हर्जाना मांगा, तो वह हर्जाना देने से मना कर रहा है।"

चरवाहे की बात सुनकर महाराज कुछ बोलते, उससे पहले ही तेनालीराम अपनी जगह से उठे और बोले बेशक महाराज दीवार के गिरने के कारण बकरी मरी लेकिन इसके लिए उस अकेले पड़ोसी को दोषी नहीं ठहराया जा सकता है। राजा के साथ दरबार में मौजूद सभी मंत्री और दरबारी तेनालीराम की इस बात को सुनकर हैरत में पड़ गए। 

राजा ने तेनालीराम से पूछा, "फिर तुम्हारे हिसाब से और कौन दीवार गिरने के लिए अपराधी हो सकता है।" इस पर तेनालीराम बोले यह तो मुझे पता नहीं है, परंतु यदि आप मुझे थोड़ा समय दे दें तो मैं इस बात का पता लगाकर सबके सामने सच ला पाऊंगा। 

राजा को तेनालीराम का सुझाव अच्छा लगा। उन्होंने तेनालीराम को असली अपराधी का पता लगाने के लिए कुछ  वक्त दे दिया। राजा की आज्ञा पाकर तेनालीराम ने चरवाहे के पड़ोसी को बुलवाया और मरी हुई बकरी के बदले कुछ पैसे चरवाहे को देने के लिए कहा। इस पर चरवाहे का पड़ोसी हाथ जोड़कर बोला, "मैं इसके लिए जिम्मेदार नहीं हूं। उस दीवार को बनाने का काम तो मिस्त्री ने किया था। ऐसे में असली अपराधी तो वह मिस्त्री हुआ।" तेनालीराम को चरवाहे के पड़ोसी की यह बात सही लगी। इसलिए तेनालीराम ने उस मिस्त्री को बुलवाया जिसने उस दीवार को बनाया था। मिस्त्री भी वहां आया लेकिन उसने भी अपना दोष नहीं माना। मिस्त्री बोला मैं इस अपराध के लिए दोषी नहीं हूं, असल दोषी तो हैं, जिन्होंने मसाले में पानी ज्यादा मिलाकर मसाले को खराब कर दिया, जिससे दीवार मजबूत ना बन सकी और गिर गई। मिस्त्री की बात सुनकर मजदूरों को बुलवाया गया। वहां पहुंचकर सारा मामला मजदूरों को पता चला, तब मजदूर बोले इसके लिए हम दोषी नहीं हैं बल्कि वह व्यक्ति दोषी है, जिसने मसाले में ज्यादा पानी डाल दिया था। इसके बाद मसाले में अधिक पानी डालने वाले व्यक्ति को भी दरबार में बुलाया गया। पानी मिलाने वाले व्यक्ति ने दरबार में पहुंचते ही कहा जिस आदमी ने मसाले में पानी डालने के लिए मुझे बर्तन दिया था, असल में दोषी वह हुआ। वह बर्तन बहुत बड़ा था, जिसके कारण पानी का अंदाजा ना लग सका और मसाले में पानी अधिक गिर गया। 

तेनालीराम के पूछने पर मसाले में पानी अधिक डालने वाले व्यक्ति ने कहा वह बड़ा बर्तन उसे चरवाहे ने दिया था। उसी के कारण मिश्रण में अधिक पानी पड़ गया और दीवार कमजोर बनी फिर क्या था? तेनालीराम चरवाहे की ओर देखते हुए बोले इसमें दोष तुम्हारा ही है। तुम्हारे कारण ही बकरी की जान गई। जब बात घूम फिर कर चरवाहे तक आ पहुंची तो वह कुछ बोल ना सका और चुपचाप अपने घर की ओर चल पड़ा। वहीं दरबार में मौजूद सभी दरबारी तेनालीराम की बुद्धिमत्ता और न्याय का गुणगान करने लगे। 

शिक्षा : किसी के साथ हुई अनहोनी के लिए किसी अन्य व्यक्ति को दोषी नहीं ठहराया जा सकता।

 Bakri ka Apradhi kaun

Once King Krishnadev Raya was sitting in his court when a shepherd reached there with his complaint. Seeing the shepherd, King Krishnadev asked him the reason for coming to the court. On being asked by King Krishnadeva Raya, the shepherd said - "Your Majesty! A lot of injustice has been done to me. The wall of the house of a man living near my house collapsed, causing my goat to die because of its coming down. When I asked him Asked for compensation for his dead goat, he is refusing to pay the damages."

Hearing the shepherd's words, even before Maharaj could say anything, Tenaliram got up from his place and said, of course, the goat died due to the fall of the wall, but that lonely neighbor cannot be blamed for this. All the ministers and courtiers present in the court with the king were astonished to hear this talk of Tenaliram.

The king asked Tenaliram, "Then who else according to you can be the culprit for the fall of the wall." Tenaliram said on this, I do not know this, but if you give me some time, then I will be able to find out and bring the truth in front of everyone.

The king liked Tenaliram's suggestion. He gave Tenaliram some time to find out the real culprit. Following the king's order, Tenaliram called the shepherd's neighbor and asked him to give some money to the shepherd in exchange for the dead goat. On this, the neighbor of the shepherd said with folded hands, "I am not responsible for this. The work of building that wall was done by the repairman. In such a situation, the real culprit turned out to be that man." Tenaliram found this statement of the shepherd's neighbor right. That's why Tenaliram called the builder who had built that wall. Mistry also came there but he too did not accept his fault. Mistry said I am not guilty of this crime, it is the real culprit, who spoiled the spice by adding more water to the spice, due to which the wall could not become strong and fell. The laborers were called after listening to the mistry. After reaching there the workers came to know about the whole matter, then the workers said that we are not guilty for this, but the person who had put more water in the spices is guilty. After this the person who put more water in the spice was also called in the court. The person who mixed the water said as soon as he reached the court that the man who gave me the pot to pour water in the spices, was actually the culprit. The pot was very big, due to which the water could not be guessed and the water in the spices fell more.

On being asked by Tenaliram, the person who added more water to the spices said that the big pot was given to him by the shepherd. Due to this, more water got into the mixture and the wall became weak, then what was it? Looking at the shepherd, Tenaliram said that the fault is yours. The goat died because of you. When the matter turned around and reached the shepherd, he could not say anything and silently went towards his house. At the same time, all the courtiers present in the court started praising Tenaliram's wisdom and justice.

Moral :  No other person can be blamed for an accident that happened to someone.
