अष्टविनायक में पांचवें गणेश है चिंतामणि गणपति। चिंतामणि का मंदिर महाराष्ट्र राज्य में पुणे जिले के हवेली तालुका में थेऊर नामक गांव में है। भगवान गणेश का यह मंदिर महाराष्ट्र में उनके 8 पीठों में से एक है। गणेश जी 'चिंतामणि' के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है, जिसका अर्थ है कि "यह गणेश सारे चिंताओं को हर लेते हैं, और मन को शांति प्रदान करते हैं"।यदि किसी भक्त का मन बहुत विचलित है, और जीवन में दुख ही दुख प्राप्त हो रहे हैं, तो इस मंदिर में आने पर ये सभी समस्याएं दूर हो जाती हैं। ऐसी मान्यता है कि स्वयं भगवान ब्रह्मा ने अपने विचलित मन को वश में करने के लिए इसी स्थान पर तपस्या की थी।यहां का वातावरण हृदय को आनंद से भर देता है। इस पवित्र भूमि पर आते ही मन की सारी परेशानियां दूर हो जाती हैं। यह मंदिर एक ऐसा स्थान है, जहां चिंतामणि रत्न की प्राप्ति साकार रूप से होती है।

मंदिर तथा मूर्ति

थेऊर गांव 3 नदियों -मुला,मुठा और भीमा के संगम पर स्थित है। इन नदियों का नजारा अद्भुत है। इस मंदिर के पीछे वाला तालाब 'कंडतीर्थ' कहलाता है। मंदिर के प्रवेश द्वार का मुख उत्तर की ओर है। इसका बाहरी कक्ष जो लकड़ी का बना है, वह इतिहास में प्रसिद्ध मराठा पेशवाओं द्वारा बनवाया गया था। इस मंदिर के विषय में यह बताया जाता है कि मुख्य मंदिर श्री मोरया गोसावी के परिवार के धरणीधरण महाराज देव ने बनवाया था। मंदिर की सही तारीख अज्ञात है।

  माधवराव पेशवा ने लकड़ी का बाहरी कक्ष मंदिर के निर्माण के लगभग 100 साल बाद बनवाया था चिंतामणि मंदिर में भगवान गणेश की जो मूर्ति स्थापित है उसकी सुंड बाई ओर है, और इसकी आंखों में हीरे जड़े हैं।

कथा

राजा अभिजीत और रानी गुणावती ने पुत्र प्राप्ति के लिए ऋषि वैशंपायन की सलाह पर कई वर्षों तक तप किया। उन्हें बेटा हुआ जिसका नाम गणराजा रखा गया, जो बहुत बहादुर पर गुस्से वाला था। वह गरीबों को परेशान करता और साधु की तपस्या में भी विघ्न डालता था। एक बार वह अपने मित्रों के साथ शिकार पर गया। उस जंगल में कपिल ऋषि का आश्रम था। ऋषि ने गण का स्वागत किया तथा उसे और उसके मित्रों को भोजन पर आमंत्रित किया।

भगवान इंद्र ने ऋषि कपिला को चिंतामणि दी थी, जिससे जो मांगो वह पूरी होती थी।कपिल ऋषि के आश्रम को देखकर गण हंसने लगा और बोला "आपके जैसा गरीब साधु इतने सारे लोगों के भोजन की व्यवस्था कैसे करेगा"? इस पर ऋषि कपिल ने अपने गले के हार से चिंतामणि रत्न निकाला और उसे लकड़ी के एक मेज पर रख दिया। उन्होंने इस मणि को नमस्कार किया तथा प्रार्थना की। देखते ही देखते वहां एक रसोई घर तैयार हो गया। प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को बैठने के लिए चंदन का आसन बन गया, और प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को चांदी की थाली में कई स्वादिष्ट पकवान परोसे गए।गण और उसके मित्रों ने स्वादिष्ट भोजन का आनंद लिया। खाने के बाद गण ने कपिल ऋषि से जादुई रत्न मांगा, परंतु ऋषि ने मना कर दिया क्योंकि वह गण के क्रूर स्वभाव को जानते थे।

अतः गण ने ऋषि के हाथ से बलपूर्वक वह रत्न हथिया लिया। उसके बाद ऋषि कपिल ने भगवान गणपति की आराधना की। गणपति ऋषि की भक्ति से प्रसन्न हुए तथा उन्होंने गण को शिक्षा देने का निर्णय लिया। गण ने विचार किया कि रत्न पुनः प्राप्त करने के लिए कपिल ऋषि उस पर हमला करेंगे, अतः उसने ही कपिल ऋषि पर आक्रमण कर दिया।

गणपति की कृपा से जंगल में एक बड़ी सेना तैयार हो गई और इस सेना ने गण के लगभग सभी सैनिकों को खत्म कर दिया। अब गणपति स्वयं युद्ध में उतरे। गण ने गणपति पर बाणों की बौछार से आक्रमण किया, परंतु गणपति ने हवा में ही बाणों को नष्ट कर दिया।

   उसके बाद गणपति ने अपने परशु (अस्त्र) गण पर फेंका और उसे मार डाला। गण के पिता राजा अभिजीत युद्ध क्षेत्र में आए और उन्होंने गणपति को नमस्कार किया। उन्होंने कपिल ऋषि को चिंतामणि वापस कर दिया तथा गणपति से अपने पुत्र के लिए माफी मांगी तथा उसकी मृत्यु के बाद उसे मुक्ति देने की प्रार्थना की।

दयालु गणपति भगवान ने उनके प्रार्थना सुन ली। इस प्रकार गणपति ने चिंतामणि पुनः प्राप्त करने के लिए कपिल ऋषि की सहायता की और तब से उन्हें चिंतामणि भी कहा जाने लगा। भगवान गणेश और गणराजा के बीच युद्ध एक कदंब के पेड़ के पास हुआ तब से इस गांव का नाम कदंब तीर्थ पड़ गया।

Chintamani Temple,Theur (Pune)

The fifth Ganesha in Ashtavinayak is Chintamani Ganapati. Chintamani's temple is in a village called Theur in Haveli taluka of Pune district in the state of Maharashtra. This temple of Lord Ganesha is one of his 8 Peethas in Maharashtra. Ganesha is popularly known as 'Chintamani', which means "this Ganesha takes away all worries, and gives peace to the mind". If you come to this temple, then all these problems go away. It is believed that Lord Brahma himself did penance at this place to subdue his disturbed mind. The atmosphere here fills the heart with joy. As soon as one comes to this holy land, all the troubles of the mind are removed. This temple is such a place, where the receipt of Chintamani gem is realized in a real form.

Temple and Statue

Theur village is situated at the confluence of 3 rivers - Mula, Mutha and Bhima. The view of these rivers is amazing. The pond behind this temple is called 'Kandtirtha'. The entrance of the temple faces north. Its outer chamber, which is made of wood, was built by the famous Maratha Peshwas in history. It is said about this temple that the main temple was built by Dharanidharan Maharaj Dev of the family of Shri Morya Gosavi. The exact date of the temple is unknown.

  The wooden outer chamber was built by Madhavrao Peshwa about 100 years after the construction of the temple. The trunk of the idol of Lord Ganesh installed in the Chintamani temple is on the left side, and its eyes are studded with diamonds.

Story

King Abhijit and Queen Gunavati did penance for many years on the advice of sage Vaishampayana to get a son. They had a son named Ganaraja, who was very brave but angry. He harassed the poor and also disturbed the penance of the monk. Once he went hunting with his friends. Kapil Rishi had an ashram in that forest. The sage welcomed Gana and invited him and his friends for a meal.

Lord Indra had given Chintamani to Sage Kapila, from which all his demands were fulfilled. Seeing Kapil Rishi's ashram, Gana started laughing and said "How will a poor monk like you arrange food for so many people"? On this, sage Kapil took out the Chintamani gem from his necklace and placed it on a wooden table. He saluted this gem and prayed. Soon a kitchen was ready there. A sandalwood seat was made for each person to sit on, and many delicious dishes were served to each person on a silver platter. The gana and his friends enjoyed a delicious meal. After eating, Gana asked Kapil Rishi for a magical gem, but the sage refused because he knew Gana's cruel nature.

So Gana grabbed the gem by force from the hand of the sage. After that Sage Kapil worshiped Lord Ganapati. Ganapati was pleased with the devotion of the sage and decided to teach Gana. Gana thought that Kapil Rishi would attack him to retrieve the gem, so he attacked Kapil Rishi.

By the grace of Ganapati, a large army was prepared in the forest and this army destroyed almost all the soldiers of Gana. Now Ganapati himself went into battle. Gana attacked Ganapati with a barrage of arrows, but Ganapati destroyed the arrows in the air itself.

   After that Ganapati threw his Parashu (weapon) at Gana and killed him. King Abhijit, the father of Gana, came to the battlefield and greeted Ganapati. He returned Chintamani to Kapil Rishi and apologized to Ganapati for his son and prayed for his salvation after his death.

The merciful Ganapati Lord listened to his prayer. Thus Ganapati helped Rishi Kapil to retrieve Chintamani and since then he came to be known as Chintamani as well. The battle between Lord Ganesha and Ganaraja took place near a Kadamba tree, since then the name of this village came to be Kadamba Teerth.
