महिला मुख हाथी की कथा

एक समय की बात है, एक राजा के अस्तबल में महिलामुख नाम का एक हाथी रहा करता था, जो बहुत ही सभ्य तथा अपने महावत के लिए परम स्वामीभक्त और आज्ञाकारी था।

एक समय अस्तबल के पास ही चोरों ने अपना अड्डा बना लिया। वे रात - बिरात वहां आते और अपनी योजना और अपने कर्मों का बखान वहां बैठकर किया करते थे। उनके कर्म तो उनकी क्रूरता आदि दुष्कर्म के परिचायक मात्र ही होते थे। कुछ ही दिनों में उनकी क्रूरताओं की कथाएं सुन - सुनकर महिलामुख हाथी की प्रवृत्ति वैसी ही होने लगी। दुष्कर्म ही तब उसे पराक्रम जान पढ़ने लगा। तब एक दिन उसने चोरों जैसी क्रूरता को उन्मुख हो अपने ही महावत को उठाकर पटक दिया और उसे कुचल कर मार डाला।

उस समय हाथी में आए ऐसे आकस्मिक परिवर्तन से सारे लोग हैरान परेशान थे। राजा ने जब महिलामुख के लिए एक नए महावत की नियुक्ति की, तो उसे भी महिलामुख ने वैसे ही मार डाला। इसी प्रकार महिलामुख के लिए नियुक्त किए गए चार अन्य परवर्ती महावतों को भी उसने कुचल कर मार डाला। एक अच्छे हाथी के बिगड़ जाने से राजा बहुत चिंतित हैथे। उन्होंने फिर एक बुद्धिमान वैद्य को बुलावा भेजा और महिला मुख को ठीक करने का आग्रह किया। वैद्य ने हर तरह से हाथी और उसके आसपास के माहौल का निरीक्षण करने के बाद पाया कि अस्तबल के पास ही चोरों का एक अदाअड्डा है, जिनके कुकर्म की कहानियां सुन सुनकर महिला मुख का हृदय भी उन जैसा भ्रष्ट होने लगा था।

बुद्धिमान वैद्य ने तत्काल ही राजा से उस स्थान को कड़ी निगरानी में रखने को कहा और चोरों के अड्डे पर संतो की सत्संग बुलाने का अनुरोध किया। राजा ने बुद्धिमान वैद्य के सुझाव को मानते हुए वैसा ही करवाया। संतों की वाणी सुन - सुनकर महिलामुख भी संतों जैसा व्यवहार करने लगा। महिलामुख की दिमागी हालत सुधर जाने से राजा बहुत बहुत प्रसन्न हुए और वैद्य को प्रचुर पुरस्कार देकर सम्मान के साथ विदा किया।

The Story of Mahilamukha Elephant

Once upon a time, there used to be an elephant named Mahimukh in the stables of a king, who was very gentle and supremely loyal and obedient to his Mahavata.

At one time the thieves made their base near the stables. They used to come there at night and talk about their plans and their deeds while sitting there. Their deeds were only indicative of their cruelty etc. In a few days, listening to stories of their cruelty, the lady elephant began to have the same tendency. Only then did he start to read his might. Then one day he oriented cruelty like thieves, picked up his own Mahavat and threw it and crushed it to death.

At that time all the people were shocked by the sudden change in elephant. When the king appointed a new Mahavat for Mahirmukh, he too was killed by Mahimukh. Similarly, he also crushed and killed four other later Mahavats appointed for Mahimukh. The king was very worried about the deterioration of a good elephant. He then summoned a wise physician and urged her to fix the female mouth.

Vaidya after inspecting the elephant and its surroundings by all means found that there is a court of thieves near the stables, whose heart of the woman's face had become corrupted like him after hearing stories of their misdeeds.

The wise Vaidya immediately asked the king to keep the place under strict surveillance and requested to call satsang of saints at the thieves' base. The king got the same done, following the suggestion of a wise physician. Listening to the saints, Mahimukh also started behaving like saints. Raja was very pleased with the improvement of Mahimukh's mental condition and left Vaidya with a rich prize and honored him.
