अंधे या देखने वाले

एक समय की बात है। अकबर और बीरबल किसी विषय पर चर्चा कर रहे थे। तभी राजा अकबर ने बीरबल से कहा कि दुनिया में हर 100 आदमी के पीछे एक अंधा आदमी होता है। राजा अकबर की बात सुनकर बीरबल ने असहमति जताते हुए कहा, "नहीं महाराज! मेरे हिसाब से यह आकलन कुछ गलत प्रतीत हो रहा है। सही मायने में तो दुनिया में अंधों की संख्या देखने वालों की संख्या से काफी अधिक है।"

बीरबल का यह जवाब सुनकर अकबर को बहुत आश्चर्य हुआ और उन्होंने कहा, "जब हम अपने आसपास देखते हैं, तो देखने वाले लोगों की संख्या अंधों के मुकाबले अधिक प्रतीत होती है। ऐसे में अंधों की संख्या देखने वालों के मुकाबले अधिक कैसे हो सकती है?

अकबर की बात को सुनकर बीरबल ने कहा, महाराज! "किसी दिन मैं आपको यह बात प्रमाण के साथ साबित करके दिखाऊंगा कि दुनिया में अंधों की संख्या देखने वालों से अधिक है।" बीरबल का जवाब सुनकर राजा अकबर बोले ठीक है, प्रमाण के साथ इस बात को अगर तुम साबित कर दोगे, तो मैं भी इस बात को स्वीकार कर लूंगा। उस दिन यह बात वहीं रुक गई।

लगभग दो-चार दिन बीतने के बाद राजा अकबर इस बात को पूरी तरह भूल चुके थे। मगर बीरबल अपनी बात को प्रमाणित करने के लिए युक्ति सोचने में जुटे हुए थे। करीब 4 दिन बीतने के बाद बीरबल को एक योजना सूझी और वे दो मुनीम को लेकर उनके साथ बाजार की ओर चल पड़े।

बीच बाजार पहुंचने के बाद बीरबल सिपाहियों से एक चारपाई की चौखट मंगाते हैं और उसे बुनने के लिए रस्सी भी मंगवाए। बीरबल अपने साथ लाए दोनों मुनीम को आदेश देते हैं कि वे उनके दाएं और बाएं कुर्सी पर बैठ जाए। साथ ही इस बात का ध्यान रखें कि दाएं बैठने वाले मुनीम उनके राज्य में मौजूद अंधों की सूची तैयार करेंगे और बाएं बैठने वाले मुनीम देखने वालों की सूची तैयार करेंगे।

बीरबल का आदेश मानते हुए दोनों मुनीम अपना काम करने के लिए कमर कस लिए और बीरबल खुद चारपाई बुनने का काम शुरू कर दिए। बीरबल को बीच बाजार चारपाई बुनते देख धीरे-धीरे वहां लोगों की भीड़ इकट्ठी होने लगी। उस भीड़ में से एक आदमी अपने आप को रोक नहीं पाता है और वह बीरबल से पूछ लेता है कि - "आप यह क्या कर रहे हैं?"

बीरबल इस सवाल का कोई जवाब नहीं देते और अपने दाएं बैठे मुनीम को इशारा करते हैं कि वह अपनी सूची में इस आदमी का नाम लिख ले। जैसे - जैसे समय बीतता जा रहा था वैसे - वैसे आने वालों की संख्या बढ़ती जा रही थी और आने वाले सभी लोग उत्सुकतावश बीरबल से यही पूछ रहे थे कि "वह यह क्या कर रहे हैं?" और इसी के साथ बीरबल अपने दाएं बैठे मुनीम को इशारा देकर यह सवाल पूछने वालों का नाम अंधों की लिस्ट में डलवाते जा रहे थे।

तभी अचानक वहां एक व्यक्ति आता है, जो बीरबल से पूछता है कि इतनी धूप में बैठकर आप चारपाई क्यों बुन रहे हैं? तब भी बीरबल कुछ नहीं बोलते हैं और बाएं बैठे मुनीम को यह सवाल पूछने वाले व्यक्ति का नाम अपनी सूची में लिखने का इशारा करते हैं। यह सिलसिला ऐसे ही चलता रहता है और धीरे-धीरे पूरा दिन निकल जाता है।

तभी इस बात की जानकारी राजा अकबर को होती है और वह भी माजरा समझने के लिए बाजार पहुंचते हैं, जहां बीरबल चारपाई बुनने का काम कर रहे होते हैं। राजा भी बीरबल के इस कार्य करने की पीछे की वजह जानना चाहते हैं। इसीलिए वह भी बीरबल से सवाल कर बैठते हैं कि बीरबल यह तुम क्या कर रहे हो?

राजा का सवाल सुनते ही बीरबल अपने दाएं बैठे मुनीम को आदेश देते हैं कि अपनी अंधों की लिस्ट में महाराज अकबर का नाम भी शामिल कर ले। बीरबल की यह बात सुनकर राजा अकबर को थोड़ा गुस्सा आता है और आश्चर्य भी होता है।

गुस्से में राजा अकबर कहते हैं, "बीरबल! मेरी आंखें पूरी तरह से ठीक है और मैं सब कुछ अच्छी तरह देख सकता हूं, फिर क्यों तुम मेरा नाम अंधों की सूची में लिखवा रहे हो?" राजा अकबर के इस सवाल पर बीरबल मुस्कुराते हुए कहते हैं,"महाराज आप देख सकते हैं कि मैं चारपाई बुन रहा हूं, फिर भी आप ने सवाल किया कि मैं क्या कर रहा हूं?" अब महाराज ऐसे सवालों का क्या मतलब है? यह तो एक अंधा व्यक्ति ही पूछ सकता है।

बीरबल का यह उत्तर सुनकर राजा अकबर को समझ में आ जाता है कि वह कुछ दिन पहले की गई बात को प्रमाणित करने के लिए यह सब कर रहे हैं। यह बात समझ में आते ही राजा अकबर भी मुस्कुराते हैं और पूछते हैं, बीरबल तो फिर बताओ कि तुमने अपने इस प्रयास में क्या पता लगाया और यह भी बताओ कि देखने वालों की संख्या अधिक है या अंधों की?

राजा के सवाल पर बीरबल उत्तर देते हैं,"महाराज! मैंने जो कहा था वही बात सच निकली। दुनिया में देखने वालों के मुकाबले अंधों की संख्या ज्यादा है। मेरे द्वारा तैयार की गई दोनों सूची का मिलान करके आप खुद ही इस निष्कर्ष पर पहुंच सकते हैं कि किस की संख्या अधिक है और इस बात को खुद अच्छी तरह से समझ सकते हैं।

बीरबल का उत्तर सुनकर राजा अकबर एक बार पुनः बीरबल की बुद्धिमत्ता का लोहा मानते हैं और कहते हैं, "बीरबल! तुम अपनी बात को साबित करने के लिए कुछ भी कर सकते हो"

शिक्षा :- कहानी से सीख इस कहानी से हमें यह शिक्षा मिलती है कि सामने दिखाई देने के बावजूद भी मूर्खतापूर्ण सवाल करने वाले व्यक्ति किसी अंधे के समान ही होते हैं।

Once upon a time. Akbar and Birbal were discussing some topic. Then King Akbar told Birbal that behind every 100 men in the world there is a blind man. Hearing the king, Birbal expressed disagreement and said, "No Maharaj! I think this assessment seems to be somewhat wrong. Truly, the number of blind people in the world is much higher than the number of sighters."

Hearing Akbar's talk, Birbal said, Maharaj! "Someday I will prove to you with proof that the number of blind in the world is more than those who see." Hearing Birbal's answer, King Akbar said, "If you can prove this thing with proof, then I will accept it too." That day it stopped there.

After about two-four days, King Akbar had completely forgotten this thing. But Birbal was busy thinking of a way to prove his point. After about 4 days, Birbal came up with a plan and went with him to the market with two bookkeepers.

After reaching the beach market, Birbal asks the soldiers for a four-foot frame and also gets a rope to weave it. Birbal orders the two accountants, brought with him, to sit on their right and left chairs. Also, keep in mind that the right-seated bookkeeper will prepare a list of blinds present in their state and the list of left-seated bookkeepers.

Accepting Birbal's orders, the two bookkeepers agreed to do their work and Birbal started weaving the cot himself. Seeing Birbal weaving the beach market, a crowd of people started gathering there. One man in that crowd is unable to stop himself and he asks Birbal - "What are you doing?"

Birbal does not give any answer to this question and signs the bookkeeper to his right that he should write the name of this man in his list. As time passed, the number of visitors was increasing and all the people were eagerly asking Birbal that "What is he doing?" And with this, Birbal was pointing to the seer of his right and putting the name of those asking this question in the list of blind people.

Then suddenly a person comes there, who asks Birbal why are you knitting the cots sitting in such a sun? Even then Birbal does not speak anything and signs the name of the person sitting on the left to write the name of the person asking this question in his list. This cycle continues like this and gradually the whole day passes.

That's when King Akbar comes to know about this and he too reaches the market to understand the matter, where Birbal is doing the work of weaving cots. The king also wants to know the reason behind Birbal doing this work. That is why they also sit with Birbal, what are you doing, Birbal?

On hearing the king's question, Birbal orders the bookkeeper sitting to his right to include the name of Maharaj Akbar in his list of blinds. Raja Akbar gets a little angry and is surprised to hear this about Birbal.

Angrily King Akbar says, "Birbal! My eyes are completely fine and I can see everything well, then why are you writing my name in the list of blind people?" On this question of King Akbar, Birbal smiles and says, "Maharaj, you can see that I am weaving cots, yet you have asked what am I doing?" Now Maharaj, what do such questions mean? Only a blind person can ask this.

Hearing this answer of Birbal, King Akbar realizes that he is doing all this to authenticate what was done a few days ago. As soon as this thing is understood, King Akbar also smiles and asks, Birbal then tell me what did you find out in your endeavor and also tell whether there are more number of sighters or blind people?

On the King's question, Birbal answers, "Maharaj, the same thing came true that I said. There are more blind people than there are people in the world. By matching the two lists prepared by me, you yourself reach this conclusion. Which number is more and can understand this thing very well.

Hearing Birbal's answer, King Akbar once again considers Birbal's intelligence and says, "Birbal! You can do anything to prove your point".

Moral :- Learning from the story, we learn from this story that despite appearing in front of us, people who make silly questions are just like a blind person.
