800 साल पुराना है, केरल का अय्यप्पा स्वामी को समर्पित, सबरीमाला मंदिर। 

देशभर में बहुत से मंदिर हैं, जो अपने धार्मिक महत्व के लिए जाने जाते हैं। इस ब्लॉग में हर हफ्ते एक मंदिर मंदिर के बारे में पोस्ट डलता है। आज हम जिस मंदिर के बारे में पढ़ने वाले हैं, वो अपने इतिहास और मंदिर में महिलाओं के प्रवेश को लेकर प्रतिबंध की वजह से चर्चा में रह चुका है। इस प्राचीन मंदिर का नाम सबरीमाला मंदिर (Sabarimala Temple) है। 

सबरिमलय मंदिर (Sabarimala Temple) भारत के केरल राज्य के पतनमतिट्टा ज़िले में पेरियार टाइगर अभयारण्य के भीतर सबरिमलय पहाड़ पर स्थित एक महत्वपूर्ण मंदिर परिसर है। यह विश्व के सबसे बड़े तीर्थस्थलों में से एक है, और यहाँ प्रतिवर्ष 4 से 5 करोड़ श्रद्धालु आते हैं। यह मंदिर भगवान अय्यप्पन को समर्पित है।

कम्बन रामायण, महाभागवत के अष्टम स्कंध और स्कन्दपुराण के असुर काण्ड में जिस शिशु शास्ता का उल्लेख है, अयप्पन उसी के अवतार माने जाते हैं। कहते हैं, शास्ता का जन्म मोहिनी वेषधारी विष्णु और शिव के समागम से हुआ था। उन्हीं अयप्पन का मशहूर मंदिर पूणकवन के नाम से विख्यात 18 पहाडि़यों के बीच स्थित इस धाम में है, जिसे सबरीमला श्रीधर्मषष्ठ मंदिर कहा जाता है। यह भी माना जाता है कि परशुराम ने अयप्पन पूजा के लिए सबरीमला में मूर्ति स्थापित की थी। कुछ लोग इसे रामभक्त शबरी के नाम से जोड़कर भी देखते हैं। इस मंदिर में श्रद्धालु सिर पर पोटली रखकर पहुंचते हैं। इसमें भगवान को चढ़ाई जाने वाली चीजें होती हैं। धार्मिक मान्यता है कि श्रद्धालु जो भी इच्छा लेकर मंदिर आते हैं, उनकी वे इच्छाएं पूरी होती हैं। 

कुछ लोगों का कहना है कि करीब 700-800 साल पहले दक्षिण में शैव और वैष्णवों के बीच वैमनस्य काफी बढ़ गया था। तब उन मतभेदों को दूर करने के लिए श्री अयप्पन की परिकल्पना की गई। दोनों के समन्वय के लिए इस धर्मतीर्थ को विकसित किया गया। आज भी यह मंदिर समन्वय और सद्भाव का प्रतीक माना जाता है। यहां किसी भी जाति-बिरादरी का और किसी भी धर्म का पालन करने वाला व्यक्ति आ सकता है। 

सबरीमाला मंदिर में हर साल एक पर्व भी मनाया जाता है, जिसे मकरविलक्कू के नाम मनाया जाता है। मकर संक्रांति और उत्तरा फाल्गुनी नक्षत्र के संयोग के दिन, पंचमी तिथि और वृश्चिक लग्न के संयोग के समय ही श्री अयप्पन का जन्म माना जाता है। इसीलिए मकर संक्रांति के दिन भी धर्मषष्ठ मंदिर में उत्सव मनाया जाता है। वैसे तो मंदिर में पूरे साल भक्तों की भीड़ उमड़ती है, लेकिन इस उत्सव के दौरान दूर -दराज से भी श्रद्धालु भगवान अयप्पा के लिए दर्शनों के लिए आते है, जिससे इस उत्सव के दौरान मंदिर में भारी भीड़ होती है। उत्सव के दौरान भगवान अयप्पा को नए वस्त्र और आभूषण पहनाएं जाते हैं। उसके बाद श्रद्धालु विशेष पूजा-अनुष्ठान करते है। केरल के लोगों के लिए ये पर्व दिवाली के त्योहार की तरह होता है, जिसे वो हर साल बहुत ही धूमधाम से मनाते हैं। 

         

यह मंदिर स्थापत्य के नियमों के अनुसार से तो खूबसूरत है ही, यहां एक आंतरिक शांति का अनुभव भी होता है। जिस तरह यह 18 पहाडि़यों के बीच स्थित है, उसी तरह मंदिर के प्रांगण में पहुंचने के लिए भी 18 सीढि़यां पार करनी पड़ती हैं। मंदिर में अयप्पन के अलावा मालिकापुरत्त अम्मा, गणेश और नागराजा जैसे उप देवताओं की भी मूर्तियां हैं उत्सव के दौरान अयप्पन का घी से अभिषेक किया जाता है।

The temple we are going to read about today has been in the news due to its history and the ban on the entry of women in the temple. The name of this ancient temple is Sabarimala Temple.

Sabarimala Temple is an important temple complex located on the Sabarimala hill within the Periyar Tiger Reserve in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala state of India. It is one of the largest pilgrimage sites in the world and attracts 4 to 5 crore devotees every year. This temple is dedicated to Lord Ayyappan.

Ayyappan is considered to be the incarnation of the child Shastha mentioned in Kamban Ramayana, the eighth chapter of Mahabhagavat and the Asura Kand of Skanda Purana. It is said that Shastha was born from the union of Vishnu and Shiva in the guise of Mohini. The famous temple of the same Ayyappan is situated in this place situated between the 18 hills known as Poonkavan, which is called Sabarimala Sridharmashtha Temple. It is also believed that Parashuram had installed the idol in Sabarimala for Ayyappan worship. Some people also associate it with the name of Ram devotee Shabari. Devotees reach this temple with a bundle on their head. It contains things to be offered to God. It is a religious belief that whatever wish the devotees come to the temple with, their wishes are fulfilled.

Some people say that about 700-800 years ago, the animosity between Shaivites and Vaishnavites had increased a lot in the south. Then to overcome those differences, Shri Ayyappan was conceived. This Dharmatirtha was developed to coordinate the two. Even today, this temple is considered a symbol of coordination and harmony. A person belonging to any caste and religion can come here.

Every year a festival is also celebrated in Sabarimala temple, which is celebrated in the name of Makaravilakku. Shri Ayyappan is considered to have been born on the day of the conjunction of Makar Sankranti and Uttara Phalguni Nakshatra, at the time of the conjunction of Panchami Tithi and Scorpio Lagna. That is why a festival is also celebrated in the Dharmasashta temple on the day of Makar Sankranti. Although the temple is crowded with devotees throughout the year, but during this festival, devotees from far and wide come to have darshan of Lord Ayyappa, due to which there is a huge crowd in the temple during this festival. During the festival, Lord Ayyappa is dressed in new clothes and ornaments. After that the devotees perform special worship and rituals. For the people of Kerala, this festival is like Diwali, which they celebrate with great pomp every year.

This temple is not only beautiful according to the rules of architecture, but one also experiences inner peace here. Just as it is situated between 18 hills, in the same way, to reach the courtyard of the temple, one has to cross 18 steps. Apart from Ayappan, the temple also has idols of sub-deities like Malikapuratta Amma, Ganesha and Nagaraja. During the festival, Ayappan is anointed with ghee.
