अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मजदूर दिवस

प्रतिवर्ष 1 मई को मजदूरों और श्रमिकों को सम्मान देने के उद्देश्य से दुनियाभर में मजदूर दिवस मनाया जाता है। इसे कामगार दिवस, लेबर डे, मई दिवस, श्रमिक दिवस आदि नामों से भी जाना जाता है। किसी भी देश के विकास में वहां के मजदूर का बहुत बड़ा योगदान होता है, ऐसे में यह दिवस उनके हक की लड़ाई उनके प्रति सम्मान भाव और उनके अधिकारों के आवाज को बुलंद करने का प्रतीक है।

इस दिवस की शुरुआत अमेरिका में 135 साल पहले हुई थी। 1886 से पहले अमेरिका में आंदोलन की शुरुआत हुई थी। इस आंदोलन में अमेरिका के मजदूर सड़कों पर आ गए। अपने हक के लिए मजदूर हड़ताल पर बैठ गए। इस आंदोलन का कारण मजदूरों की कार्य अवधि थी। उस दौरान मजदूर एक दिन में 15-15 घंटे काम करते थे। आंदोलन के दौरान मजदूरों पर पुलिस ने गोली चला दी। इस दौरान कई मजदूरों की जान चली गई। सैकड़ों श्रमिक घायल हो गए। तब अमेरिका के हजारों मजदूरों ने अपने काम की स्थितियां बेहतर करने के लिए हड़ताल शुरू की थी। वे चाहते थे कि उनके काम करने का समय एक दिन में 15 घंटे से घटाकर 8 घंटे किया जाए। इसके लिए उन्हें बहुत संघर्ष करना पड़ा। अंततः उन्हें सफलता मिली और तब से 1 मई का दिन मजूदर क्रांति (Labour revolution) की सफलता का ही नहीं रहा, अपितु दुनिया भर में मजदूरों के हितों और उनके सम्मान के लिए मजदूर दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाने लगा।

अमेरिका में मजदूर दिवस मनाने का प्रस्ताव 1 मई 1889 को लागू हुआ लेकिन भारत में इस दिन को मनाने की शुरुआत लगभग 34 साल बाद हुई। भारत में भी मजदूर अत्याचार और शोषण के खिलाफ आवाज उठा रहे थे। मजदूरों का नेतृत्व वामपंथी कर रहे थे। उनके आंदोलन को देखते हुए 1 मई 1923 में पहली बार चेन्नई में मजदूर दिवस मनाया गया। लेबर किसान पार्टी ऑफ हिंदुस्तान की अध्यक्षता में मजदूर दिवस मनाने की घोषणा की गई। कई संगठन और सोशल पार्टी ने इस फैसले का समर्थन किया।

हर बार मजदूर दिवस की एक थीम होती है, जिसके आधार पर इन दिन को मनाया जाता है। इस बार 2024 में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय श्रम संगठन (ILO) द्वारा अंतर्राष्ट्रीय श्रम दिवस 2024 की आधिकारिक थीम की घोषणा नहीं की गई है। विषय चाहे जो भी हो, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय श्रम दिवस श्रमिकों के योगदान को पहचानने, उनके अधिकारों की वकालत करने और सभी के लिए काम के एक निष्पक्ष और अधिक टिकाऊ भविष्य को बढ़ावा देने के लिए एक महत्वपूर्ण मंच बना हुआ है।

Every time Labor Day has a theme, based on which this day is celebrated. This time in 2024, the official theme of International Labor Day 2024 has not been announced by the International Labor Organization (ILO).
