कोयला-और-चंदन

भरत नाम का एक लड़का था, जो कुछ गलत बच्चों की संगत में पड़ता जा रहा था। भरत के माँ पिता को भरत के भविष्य की लेकर बहुत फ़िक्र सताने लगी। उनका मानना ये था कि मारने पीटने से ये और ज्यादा ढीठ बन सकता है। इसलिए वो रोज भरत को समझाते की बेटा बुरे बच्चों का साथ छोड़ दो। दिन पर दिन तुम्हारी आदतें बिगड़ती जा रही हैं। भरत पर उनके समझाने का कोई असर नहीं दिख रहा था।

एक दिन भरत शाम को बहुत बुरी हालत मे घर पहुंचा। भरत के कपड़े फ़टे हुए और गंदे थे। भरत को कुछ जगह पर चोटें भी आई थीं। माँ ने भरत को इस हालत में देखा तो बहुत दुखी और अचंभित हो गई। माँ पूछने लगी की ये सब कैसे हुआ, किसने मारा?

भरत की हालत देख कर साफ पता लगा रहा था की भरत झगड़ा कर के आया है। इतने में भरत के पिता भी दफ्तर से घर पहुँच गए। भरत की हालत देख पिता जी भी अचंभित रह गए। पिता जी के हाथ में 4-5 कोयले के टुकड़े और दूसरे हाथ मे चंदन की लकड़ी थी। पिता ने भरत को बुलाया और भरत के एक हाथ मे कोयले के टुकड़े और दूसरे हाथ में चंदन की लकड़ी रखते हुए बोले - "बेटा कुछ देर दोनों को अपने हाथों में ऐसे ही पकड़े रखो।"

कुछ समय बाद पिता ने बोला की बेटा अब दोनों नीचे रख दो। भरत के जिस हाथ में कोयला था उतनी जगह पर हाथ काला हो चुका था और जिस हाथ मे चंदन था वह हाथ बिलकुल साफ था और हाथ से चंदन की सुगंध भी आ रही थी। अब पिता ने कहा की कोयले की वजह से तुम्हारा हाथ काफ़ी गन्दा दिख रहा है, अब इसे साफ करो। भरत ने बहुत कोशिस की, लेकिन अब भी भरत का हाथ काफ़ी गन्दा ही दिख रहा था।

अब पिता ने भरत को सीख देते हुए कहा की बेटा, ठीक ऐसी ही बुरी संगत भी होती है। बुरी संगत में रहने से बुरी आदतें पड़नी ही है, बुरी आदतें पड़ गई तो बहुत मुश्किल से छूटेंगी। बुरी संगत से बुरी आदतें लगती हैं, जो जीवन को बर्बाद कर देती हैं। जीवन में दुख देती हैं।

वहीं दूसरी तरफ चंदन अच्छे लोगों की संगत की तरह है। अच्छी संगत से जीवन में अच्छी आदतें और अच्छे गुण आते हैं, जो जीवन को चंदन की सुगंध की तरह सुगंधित कर देता हैं। पिता जी की इन बातों का भरत के मन पर गहरा प्रभाव हुआ। भरत ने उसी समय बुरे लोगों की संगत छोड़ दी।

शिक्षा : लोगों की संगत से हमारे जीवन पर बहुत प्रभाव पड़ता है, हमेशा अच्छे लोगों की संगत में रहें।

There was a boy named Bharat, who was falling into the company of some wrong children. Bharat's parents started worrying a lot about Bharat's future. His belief was that beating him could make him more insolent. That's why he used to tell Bharat every day that son, leave the company of bad children. Your habits are worsening day by day. There was no visible effect of his explanation on Bharat.

One day Bharat reached home in the evening in a very bad condition. Bharat's clothes were torn and dirty. Bharat also suffered injuries at some places. When mother saw Bharat in this condition, she became very sad and surprised. Mother started asking how did all this happen, who killed her?

Seeing Bharat's condition, it was clear that Bharat had come after a fight. Meanwhile, Bharat's father also reached home from office. Seeing Bharat's condition, father was also surprised. Father had 4-5 pieces of coal in his hand and sandalwood in the other hand. The father called Bharat and said to Bharat, placing pieces of coal in one hand and sandalwood in the other hand - "Son, hold both of them in your hands like this for some time."

After some time, the father said, son, put both of them down now. Bharat's hand in which there was coal had turned black at that place and the hand in which there was sandalwood was completely clean and the fragrance of sandalwood was also coming from the hand. Now father said that your hand is looking very dirty because of the coal, now clean it. Bharat tried hard, but Bharat's hands still looked quite dirty.

Now the father taught Bharat a lesson and said that son, bad company is like this only. Staying in bad company is bound to lead to bad habits, if bad habits are formed then it will be very difficult to get rid of them. Bad company leads to bad habits which ruin life. Gives sorrow in life.

On the other hand, sandalwood is like the company of good people. Good company brings good habits and good qualities in life, which makes life fragrant like the fragrance of sandalwood. These words of his father had a deep impact on Bharat's mind. Bharat left the company of bad people at that very moment.

Lesson: The company of people has a great impact on our lives, always stay in the company of good people.
