भगवान श्री कृष्ण का नाम हमेशा राधा रानी के साथ लिया जाता है। कृष्ण जन्माष्टमी के ठीक 15 दिन के बाद राधा अष्टमी का त्यौहार मनाया जाता है। इस साल राधा अष्टमी 23 सितंबर, शनिवार अर्थात आज के दिन मनाई जा रही है। मान्यता है कि राधा रानी के बिना भगवान श्री कृष्ण की पूजा अधूरी होती है। इसलिए भगवान श्री कृष्ण के नाम के साथ राधा रानी का नाम लिया जाता है। अब बात करते हैं एक ऐसे मंदिर की जिसका पट वर्ष में एक बार सिर्फ राधा अष्टमी के दिन ही खुलता है।

विदिशा शहर के नंदवाना गली में राधा रानी का प्राचीन मंदिर स्थित है। इस मंदिर के पट वर्ष में एक बार राधा अष्टमी के दिन खुलते हैं। मंदिर के सेवक का कहना है कि जब तक ठकुराइन (राधा रानी) की हवेली नहीं बनती तब तक वर्षभर मंदिर के पट नहीं खुल सकते। परंपरा के चलते इस बार भी मंदिर के पट सिर्फ राधा अष्टमी के दिन एक दिन के लिए खुले। फिर 1 साल के लिए मंदिर के पट बंद हो गए। मंदिर में गुप्त रूप से पूजा होती रहेगी। सन् 1669 से यह परंपरा चली आ रही है।

मंदिर के सेवक मनमोहन शर्मा बताते हैं कि जो प्रतिमाएं नंदवाना स्थित मंदिर में विराजमान हैं, वह औरंगजेब के अत्याचारों के दौरान 353 वर्ष पहले सन् 1669 में गुप्तरुप से विदिशा लाई गई थीं। इन प्रतिमाओं को स्वामी परिवार लेकर आया था। इससे पहले यह प्रतिमाएं वृंदावन में जमुना जी के किनारे राधा रंगीराय मंदिर में विराजमान थीं। वर्तमान में उनकी 12वीं पीढ़ी गुप्त रुप से सेवा करती आ रही है। बताया जाता है कि शुरूआती दौर में ठकुराइन को 21 तोपों की सलामी दी जाती थी।

मंदिर के सेवक मनमोहन शर्मा का कहना है कि उनकी भी इच्छा है कि साल भर मंदिर के पट खुलना चाहिए, लेकिन जब उन्होंने राधावल्लभ मंदिर वृंदावन पीठ के प्रधान पीठाधीश्वर गोस्वामी राधेश्लाल महाराज से आग्रह किया तो उन्होंने पहले हवेली बनाने की बात कही। उनका कहना था कि यदि ठकुराइन के लिए हवेली बन जाए तो नित्य पट खोलने पर विचार किया जा सकता है। मंदिर बोर्ड के सदस्यों का कहना है कि प्रशासन को आगे आकर पहल करनी चाहिए।

देश में सिर्फ दो राधा रानी का मंदिर है, एक बरसाने में दूसरा विदिशा में 

 देश में राधा रानी के प्राचीन मात्र दो ही मंदिर बताये जाते हैं, जिनमें एक मंदिर वृदावन के बरसाना और दूसरा मंदिर शहर के नंदवाना में स्थित है। बरसाना में तो राधारानी की हवेली बनी हुई है, जहां ठकुराइन के श्रद्धालुओं को रोज दर्शन होते हैं, लेकिन विदिशा में पिछले 333 साल से राधा रानी एक छोटे से गर्भग्रह में विराजमान हैं। जहां साल भर गुप्त रूप से उनकी सेवा की जाती है, और राधा अष्टमी के मौके पर आम श्रद्धालुओं के लिए पट खोले जाते हैं। 7 इंच की अष्टधातु की ठकुराइन की प्रतिमा के साथ ही उनकी सहेलियां भी यहां विराजमान हैं।

राधा अष्टमी के दिन शाम को संध्या आरती और रात 7 से 10 बजे तक पालना दर्शन, हवेली संगीत से राधारानी का दरबार गूंज उठा। पूरे समय दर्शनों के लिए बड़ी संख्या में लोग आते रहे। इस दौरान मंदिर की वृन्दावन गली का नजारा देखते ही बन रहा था।

The ancient temple of Radha Rani is situated in Nandwana street of Vidisha city. The doors of this temple are opened once a year on the day of Radha Ashtami. The servant of the temple says that until the mansion of Thakuraine (Radha Rani) is not built, the doors of the temple cannot be opened throughout the year. Due to tradition, this time also the doors of the temple were opened for one day only on the day of Radha Ashtami. Then the doors of the temple were closed for 1 year. Puja will continue in secret in the temple. This tradition is going on since 1669.

Manmohan Sharma, the servant of the temple, tells that the idols which are situated in the temple at Nandwana were secretly brought to Vidisha in 1669, 353 years ago during the atrocities of Aurangzeb. These idols were brought by the Swami family. Earlier these idols were sitting in the Radha Rangirai temple on the banks of Jamuna ji in Vrindavan. At present, his 12th generation has been serving in secret. It is said that in the initial phase, Thakurain was given a 21-gun salute.

Manmohan Sharma, the servant of the temple, says that he also wishes that the doors of the temple should be opened throughout the year, but when he requested the head of Radhavallabh temple Vrindavan Peeth, Peethadheeshwar Goswami Radheshlal Maharaj said that he should first build a haveli. He said that if a mansion is built for Thakurain, then opening of Nitya Patt can be considered. The members of the temple board say that the administration should come forward and take the initiative.

 There are only two ancient temples of Radha Rani in the country, in which one temple is located in Barsana of Vridavan and the other temple is located in Nandwana of the city. In Barsana, Radharani's haveli is built, where the devotees of Thakurain have daily darshan, but in Vidisha for the last 333 years, Radha Rani is sitting in a small sanctum. Where she is served secretly throughout the year, and on the occasion of Radha Ashtami, the doors are opened to the common devotees. Along with the 7-inch Ashtadhatu Thakurain statue, her friends are also seated here.

On the day of Radha Ashtami, the evening aarti and cradle darshan from 7 to 10 pm, Radharani's court reverberated with haveli music. Throughout the time, a large number of people kept coming for darshan. During this, the view of the Vrindavan street of the temple was being made.
