कालीघाट शक्तिपीठ या कालीघाट काली मंदिर पश्चिम बंगाल की राजधानी कोलकाता में स्थित काली देवी का मंदिर है। यह भारत के 51 शक्तिपीठों में से एक है। कोलकाता में देवी शक्ति के कई प्रसिद्ध स्थल हैं, लेकिन कालीघाट में स्थित इस काली मंदिर की महिमा बहुत बड़ी है। इस शक्तिपीठ में स्थित प्रतिमा की प्रतिष्ठा कामदेव ब्रह्मचारी (सन्यास पूर्व नाम जिया गंगोपाध्याय) ने की थी।

कालीघाट काली मंदिर में देवी की प्रतिमा में काली का मस्तक और चार हाथ नजर आते हैं। यह प्रतिमा एक काले पत्थर को तराश कर तैयार की गई है।यहां मां काली की जीभ काफी लंबी है, जो सोने की बनी हुई है, और बाहर निकली हुई है। यहां मां के दांत सोने के हैं। आंखें और सिर गेरुआ रंग के सिंदूर से बने हैं, और माथे पर तिलक भी गेरुआ है। प्रतिमा के हाथ स्वर्ण आभूषणों और गला लाल पुष्प की माला से सुसज्जित है।

इसके अलावा कालीघाट काली मंदिर में कुंडूपुकर नामक एक पवित्र तालाब है, जो मंदिर परिसर के दक्षिण-पूर्व कोने में स्थित है। इस तालाब के पानी को गंगा के समान पवित्र माना जाता है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि पानी में स्नान मात्र से हर मन्नत पूरी हो जाती है।

यह मंदिर काली भक्तों के लिए सबसे बड़ा मंदिर है। यहां की शक्ति 'कालिका' और भैरव 'नकुलेश' हैं। इस मंदिर में देवी काली की प्रचंड रूप की प्रतिमा स्थापित है। इस प्रतिमा में देवी काली भगवान शिव की छाती पर पैर रखी हुई हैं। उनके गले में नर मुंडो की माला है, हाथ में कुल्हाड़ी और कुछ नरमुंड हैं, तथा कमर में भी कुछ नरमुंड बंधे हुए हैं। उनकी जिह्वा (जीभ) निकली हुई है, और जीभ में से कुछ रक्त की बूंदे भी टपक रही हैं। प्रतिमा में जीह्वा स्वर्ण से बनी हुई है।मंदिर में त्रिनैना माता रक्तांबरा, मुंडमालिनी, मुक्तकेशी भी विराजमान हैं। पास ही में नकुलेश का भी मंदिर है।

कुछ अनुश्रुतियों के अनुसार देवी किसी बात पर क्रोधित हो गईं थीं, जिसके बाद उन्होंने नरसंहार करना शुरू कर दिया। उनके मार्ग में जो भी आता वह मारा जाता। उनके क्रोध को शांत करने के लिए स्वयं भगवान शिव उनके मार्ग में लेट गए। देवी ने गुस्से में उनकी छाती पर भी पैर रख दिया, उसी समय उन्होंने भगवान शिव को पहचान लिया और फिर नरसंहार बंद कर दिया।

पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार सती के शरीर के अंग प्रत्यंग जहां भी गिरे वहां शक्तिपीठ बन गए। यह बेहद पावन तीर्थ स्थान माने जाते हैं। ऐसा माना जाता है कि मां सती के दाएं पैर की कुछ अंगलिया इस जगह पर गिरी थीं।

Kalighat Shaktipeeth or Kalighat Kali Temple is a temple of Goddess Kali located in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. It is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths of India. The statue located in this Shaktipeeth was consecrated by Kamadeva Brahmachari (formerly known as Jiya Gangopadhyay).

Kali's head and four hands are seen in the idol of the goddess in Kalighat Kali temple. This idol is carved out of a black stone. Here the tongue of Maa Kali is very long, which is made of gold, and is protruding. Here mother's teeth are of gold. The eyes and head are made of ocher colored vermilion, and the tilak on the forehead is also ocher. The hand of the statue is adorned with gold ornaments and the neck is adorned with a garland of red flowers.

Apart from this, Kalighat Kali Temple has a sacred tank called Kundupukar, which is located in the south-east corner of the temple complex. The water of this pond is considered as holy as the Ganges. It is believed that just by bathing in the water, every wish is fulfilled.

This temple is the biggest temple for Kali devotees. The power here is 'Kalika' and Bhairav ​​is 'Nakulesh'. The idol of Goddess Kali in a fierce form is installed in this temple. In this statue, Goddess Kali is placed on the chest of Lord Shiva. He has a garland of male hairs around his neck, an ax in his hand and some narcissus, and some narwhals are tied around his waist. His jihwa (tongue) is protruding, and some drops of blood are also dripping from the tongue. The tongue in the statue is made of gold. Trinaina Mata Raktambara, Mundamalini, Muktkeshi are also seated in the temple. There is also a temple of Nakulesh nearby.

According to some legends, the goddess got angry over something, after which she started massacre. Whoever came in his way would be killed. To pacify his anger, Lord Shiva himself lay down on his path. The goddess angrily even put a foot on his chest, at the same time she recognized Lord Shiva and then stopped the massacre.

According to mythology, wherever the parts of Sati's body fell, it became a Shaktipeeth. It is considered a very sacred pilgrimage place. It is believed that some toes on the right leg of Mother Sati fell at this place.
