हिमाचल प्रदेश अपनी प्राकृतिक सुंदरता के लिए विश्व भर में प्रसिद्ध है। यह देवा स्थल भी है।

नैना देवी मंदिर (Naina Devi Temple, Himachal Pradesh) हिमाचल प्रदेश के बिलासपुर जिले में है। यह शिवालिक पर्वत श्रेणी की पहाड़ियों पर स्थित एक भव्य मंदिर है। यह देवी मंदिर 51 शक्तिपीठों में शामिल है। वर्तमान में उत्तर भारत की नौ देवी यात्रा में नैना देवी का छठवां स्थान है। वैष्णो देवी से शुरू होने वाली नव देवी यात्रा मां चामुंडा देवी, मां वज्रेश्वरी देवी, मां ज्वाला देवी, मां चिंतपूर्णी देवी, मां नैना देवी, मां मनसा देवी, मां कालिका देवी, मां शाकंभरी देवी सहारनपुर आदि शामिल है।

 नैना देवी मंदिर नेशनल हाईवे नंबर 21 से जुड़ा हुआ है। अतः श्रद्धालु अपने निजी वाहनों से भी बड़ी आसानी से पहुंच सकते हैं। मंदिर तक जाने के लिए रोप वे तथा पालकी आदि की भी व्यवस्था है। यह समुद्र तल से 1100 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर स्थित है। मान्यता है कि इस स्थान पर देवी सती के नेत्र गिरे थे। 

मंदिर में पीपल का पेड़ मुख्य आकर्षण का केंद्र है, जो की अनेक शताब्दी पुराना है। मंदिर के मुख्य द्वार के दाएं और भगवान गणेश और हनुमान की मूर्ति है। मुख्य द्वार को पार करने के बाद दो शेर की प्रतिमाएं हैं, जो माता का वाहन माना जाता है। मंदिर के गर्भ गृह में मुख्य तीन मूर्तियां हैं- दाईं तरफ माता काली की, मध्य में नैना देवी की और बाएं और भगवान गणेश की मूर्ति है। पास ही में पवित्र जल का तालाब है, जो मंदिर से कुछ दूरी पर स्थित है। मंदिर के समीप ही एक गुफा है जिसे नैना देवी गुफा के नाम से जाना जाता है। पहले मंदिर तक पहुंचने के लिए 1.25 किलोमीटर की पैदल यात्रा की जाती थी, परंतु अब मंदिर प्रशासन द्वारा मंदिर तक पहुंचने के लिए रोप वे का प्रबंध किया गया है।

पौराणिक सती कथा के अनुसार-

नैना देवी मंदिर शक्तिपीठों में से एक है। पूरे भारतवर्ष में कुल 51 शक्ति पीठ हैं, इन सब की उत्पत्ति कथा एक ही है। यह सभी मंदिर भगवान शिव और माता शक्ति से जुड़े हुए हैं। धार्मिक ग्रंथों के अनुसार इन सभी स्थलों पर देवी के अंग गिरे थे। 

भगवान शिव के ससुर राजा दक्ष ने यज्ञ का आयोजन किया, जिसमें उन्होंने शिव और सती को आमंत्रित नहीं किया, क्योंकि वह भगवान शिव को अपने बराबर का नहीं समझते थे। यह बात माता सती को काफी बुरी लगी, और वह बिना बुलाए यज्ञ में पहुंच गईं। यज्ञ स्थल पर भगवान शिव का काफी अपमान किया गया, जिससे माता सती सहन ना कर सकीं और वह हवन कुंड में कूद गयीं। जब भगवान शंकर को यह बात पता चली तो वह आए और माता सती के शरीर को हवन कुंड से निकालकर तांडव करने लगे, जिस कारण सारे ब्रह्मांड में हाहाकार मच गया। पूरे ब्रह्मांड को इस संकट से बचाने के लिए भगवान विष्णु ने माता सती के शरीर को अपने सुदर्शन चक्र से 51 भागों में बांट दिया, जो अंग जहां पर गिरा वही शक्तिपीठ बन गया। मान्यता है कि नैना देवी में माता सती के नेत्र गिरे थे।

नैना देवी मंदिर के प्रमुख त्यौहार

नैना देवी मंदिर में नवरात्रि का त्यौहार बड़े धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है। वर्ष में आने वाली दोनों नवरात्रि,चैत्र मास और अश्विन मास के नवरात्रि में यहां पर विशाल मेले का आयोजन किया जाता है। देश के कोने-कोने से श्रद्धालु यहां आकर माता नैना देवी की कृपा प्राप्त करते हैं। माता को भोग के रूप में 56 प्रकार की वस्तुओं का भोग लगाया जाता है। श्रावण अष्टमी को यहां भव्य व आकर्षक मेले का आयोजन किया जाता है। नवरात्रि में आने वाले श्रद्धालुओं की संख्या दोगुनी हो जाती है। अन्य त्योहार भी यहां पर काफी धूमधाम से मनाए जाते हैं।

हिन्दू-सिखों का सांझा तीर्थ स्थान

नैना देवी मंदिर एक ऐसा शक्तिपीठ है, जिसमें सिखों की गहरी आस्था है। यहां आने वाले 60 फीसदी सिख श्रदालु होते हैं। यह हिन्दू-सिखों का सांझा तीर्थ स्थान है। मंदिर के पुजारी के अनुसार माता नयना देवी के मंदिर में श्रावण अष्टमी के मेले में साठ फीसदी सिख आते हैं। सिखों के दसवें गुरु गोबिंद सिंह ने माता नैना देवी के मंदिर में तपस्या की थी और एक साल से अधिक समय तक मंदिर के हवन कुंड में हवन किया था। मान्यता है कि तपस्या व हवन से खुश होकर मां भवानी ने स्वयं प्रकट होकर गुरु जी को प्रसाद के रूप में तलवार भेंट की और गुरू जी को वरदान दिया था कि तुम्हारी विजय होगी और इस धरती पर तुम्हारा पंथ सदैव चलता रहेगा। हवन आदि के बाद जब गुरू जी आनंदपुर साहब की ओर जाने लगे तो उन्होंने अपने तीर की नोक से तांबे की एक प्लेट पर अपने पुरोहित को हुक्मनामा लिखकर दिया, जो आज भी नयना देवी के पंडित बांके बिहारी शर्मा के पास सुरक्षित है।

हवन कुंड 

मंदिर के साथ ही एक हवन कुंड भी बना हुआ है जिसकी विशेषता है कि इसमें डाली गई सारी सामग्री जल कर उसके बीच में ही समा जाती है टनों भस्म कहां जाती है यह आज तक रहस्य बना हुआ है। भवन से कुछ ही दूरी पर एक प्राचीन गुफा भी है। श्रद्धालु जन उसके भी श्रद्धा भाव से दर्शन करते हैं। भवन से 100 मीटर की दूरी पर एक सरोवर है जिसमें स्नान करना पुण्य माना जाता है।

Naina Devi Temple is in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh. It is a grand temple situated on the hills of Shivalik mountain range. This Devi temple is included in the 51 Shaktipeeths. At present, Naina Devi is the sixth place in the Nau Devi Yatra of North India. The Nav Devi Yatra starting from Vaishno Devi includes Maa Chamunda Devi, Maa Vajreshwari Devi, Maa Jwala Devi, Maa Chintpurni Devi, Maa Naina Devi, Maa Mansa Devi, Maa Kalika Devi, Maa Shakambhari Devi Saharanpur etc.

 Naina Devi Temple is connected by National Highway No. 21. Therefore, devotees can reach easily even by their own personal vehicles. There is also a ropeway and palanquin etc. to reach the temple. It is situated at an altitude of 1100 meters above sea level. It is believed that the eyes of Goddess Sati fell at this place.

The main attraction of the temple is the Peepal tree, which is several centuries old. To the right of the main entrance of the temple is the idol of Lord Ganesha and Hanuman. After crossing the main gate there are two lion statues, which are believed to be the vehicle of the mother. In the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, there are three main idols- Mata Kali on the right, Naina Devi in ​​the middle and left and the idol of Lord Ganesha. Nearby is a pond of holy water, which is situated at some distance from the temple. There is a cave near the temple which is known as Naina Devi cave. Earlier to reach the temple, a walk of 1.25 km was done, but now the ropeway has been arranged by the temple administration to reach the temple.

According to the legend Sati-

Naina Devi Temple is one of the Shaktipeeths. There are a total of 51 Shakti Peeths in the whole of India, the origin story of all of them is the same. All these temples are associated with Lord Shiva and Mother Shakti. According to religious texts, the parts of the goddess had fallen at all these places.

King Daksha, the father-in-law of Lord Shiva, organized a yagna, to which he did not invite Shiva and Sati, as he did not consider Lord Shiva as his equal. Mother Sati felt very bad about this thing, and she reached the yagya without being called. Lord Shiva was insulted a lot at the place of Yagya, due to which Mother Sati could not bear it and she jumped into the Havan Kund. When Lord Shankar came to know about this, he came and took out the body of Mother Sati from the Havan Kund and started doing tandav, due to which there was an outcry in the whole universe. To save the entire universe from this crisis, Lord Vishnu divided the body of Mother Sati into 51 parts with his Sudarshan Chakra, the part where it fell became the Shaktipeeth. It is believed that the eyes of Mother Sati had fallen in Naina Devi.

Major Festivals of Naina Devi Temple

The festival of Navratri is celebrated with great pomp in the Naina Devi temple. A huge fair is organized here in both the coming Navratri, Chaitra month and Navratri of Ashwin month. Devotees from every corner of the country come here to get the blessings of Mata Naina Devi. 56 types of things are offered to the mother as bhog. A grand and attractive fair is organized here on Shravan Ashtami. The number of devotees visiting Navratri doubles. Other festivals are also celebrated here with great pomp.

Hindu-Sikh common pilgrimage place

Naina Devi Temple is one such Shaktipeeth, in which Sikhs have deep faith. 60 percent of the Sikhs who come here are devotees. It is a common pilgrimage place of Hindus and Sikhs. According to the priest of the temple, sixty percent of Sikhs attend the fair of Shravan Ashtami in the temple of Mata Naina Devi. The tenth Guru of the Sikhs, Gobind Singh, had done penance at the temple of Mata Naina Devi and performed a havan in the temple's Havan Kund for more than a year. It is believed that after being pleased with the austerity and havan, Maa Bhavani herself appeared and presented a sword to Guru ji as prasad and gave a boon to Guru ji that you will be victorious and your cult will continue on this earth forever. After Havan etc., when Guru ji started going towards Anandpur Sahib, he gave the order with the tip of his arrow to his priest on a copper plate, which is still safe with Pandit Banke Bihari Sharma of Naina Devi.

Havan Kund

Along with the temple, a Havan Kund is also built, whose specialty is that all the material put in it burns and gets absorbed in the middle of it, where the tons of ashes go, it remains a mystery till date. There is also an ancient cave at a short distance from the building. Devotees also visit him with reverence. At a distance of 100 meters from the building, there is a lake in which bathing is considered a virtue.
