 शूकर के साहस की कहानी

प्राचीन काल में जब काशी में महाराज ब्रह्मदत्त राज्य किया करते थे, तब काशी के समीप के एक गांव में कुछ बढ़ई रहते थे। उनमें से एक को जंगल में लकड़ी काटते समय एक सूअर का बच्चा गड्ढे में गिरा मिला। वह उसे निकाल कर घर ले आया और बड़े यत्नपूर्वक उसे पालने और सिखाने लगा।

धीरे-धीरे वह शूकर बड़ा हुआ और उसके मुख के बाहर दो तेज दांत दिखाई देने लगे। यह तरुण शूकर बहुत ही हृष्ट पुष्ट और सौम्य स्वभाव वाला था। मांसाहारी मनुष्यों से उसकी रक्षा करने के विचार से एक दिन बढ़ई ने उसे फिर जंगल में छोड़ने का निश्चय किया और उसे जंगल में छोड़ आया।

वह बलवान युवा शूकर वन में घूम- घूम कर अपने रहने योग्य कंदरा और खाने योग्य कंदमूल, फल खोजने लगा। इसी समय उसे उसकी जाति के अनेक शूकर मिले, परंतु वह सब दुखी और दुर्बल दिखाई दिए। उसने जब उनसे उनकी विपत्ति पूछी, तो उन्होंने उसे बताया कि इस वन में एक ढोंगी सन्यासी रहता है, जो कहीं से एक सिंह को ले आया है। 

सिंह के भय से वे त्रस्त रहते हैं। क्योंकि वह नित्य ही कुछ शूकरों को मारकर स्वयं खाता है और उस सन्यासी को भी खिलाता है। बढ़ई के शूकर ने उन सब को अभयदान दिया और उन सब ने उस शूकर का साहस देखकर उसे अपना नेता स्वीकार कर लिया। अब सब मिलकर उसी का सामना करने की युक्ति सोचने लगे। 

शूकर नेता ने समस्त अनुयायियों को युद्ध कौशल सिखाया और शकट व्यूह बनाकर दुर्बल बच्चों, मादाओं और बूढ़ों को उसके मध्य में सुरक्षित करके तरुण और बलवान शूकरों को बाहर वाले भाग में नियुक्त किया। इस प्रकार वह सिंह का सामना करने को तैयार होकर उसकी प्रतीक्षा करने लगे।

ठीक समय पर सिंह आया। पर्वत के ऊपर से उसने नीचे व्यूह बद्ध शूकरो को देखा और भयंकर गर्जना किया। परंतु जब उसने देखा कि एक भी शूकर भयभीत होकर उस व्यूह से बाहर नहीं भागा। तब शूकर का साहस देखकर उसकी आक्रमण की हिम्मत नहीं हुई। सिंह को चिंता कूल खाली हाथ लौट के देख ढोंगी सन्यासी ने यह गाथा कही, "जब तुम जंगल में सूअर के शिकार को जाते थे, तब सदा ही उत्तम मांस लाया करते थे। आज तुम खाली हाथ शोक ग्रस्त आ रहे हो। तुम्हारा वह विगत पराक्रम कहां गया?"

इसका उत्तर सिंह ने इस प्रकार दिया, "पहले मुझे देखकर शूकर समूह में भगदड़ मच जाती थी। वह अपनी कंदराओं की ओर भयभीत होकर भाग जाते थे। परंतु जित की भांति खड़े होकर मेरा सामना करने का साहस नहीं करते थे।"

ढोंगी सन्यासी ने सिंह को धिक्कारते हुए कहा, "उन से डरने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है। एक भयंकर गर्जना के साथ जब तुम छलांग भरोगे उस समय उनकी सिट्टी पिट्टी गुम हो जाएगी और वह घबराकर इधर-उधर भागने लगेंगे। सिंह ने अपने गुरु के उपदेश अनुसार ही काम किया। वह वन में गया और एक ऊंची पहाड़ी पर से दहाड़कर छलांग भरी। पहाड़ी बहुत ऊंची थी। सिंह छलांग भरकर उसकी ढलान पर जा गिरा और लुढ़कता पुढ़कता नीचे एक गहरे गड्ढे में जा गिरा। 

शेर की हड्डी पसली चूर चूर हो गई। इसी समय शूकरों के नेता ने अपने साथियों सहित आक्रमण करके उसे मार डाला। सिंह के मर जाने पर नेता ने कहा, "अब तो तुम लोग निर्भय हो गए।" शूकरों ने कहा- अभी कहां जब तक वह ढोंगी सनयासी जीवित है, तब तक सिंह का आना बंद नहीं होगा। वह फिर किसी को बुला लाएगा। नेता ने कहा अच्छा चलो उसे भी देख लें। 

सब लोग उसकी कंदरा की ओर चल पड़े। इधर सिंह की प्रतीक्षा करते जब बहुत देर हुई तो ढोंगी सन्यासी बड़बड़ाता हुआ उसकी खोज में निकला। रास्ते में उसने जब सूअरों के झुंड को अपनी ओर आते देखा तब तो वह एकदम घबरा गया और दौड़ कर एक अंजीर के पेड़ पर चढ़ गया। शूकरों ने उस पेड़ को घेर लिया। अब नेता ने बताया कि अपनी खीसों से सब लोग पेड़ के आसपास की मिट्टी खोद डालो। इससे जड़े बाहर आ जाएंगी फिर उन जोड़ों को भी दांतों से काट डालो। इससे पेड़ कमजोर हो जाएगा। इसके पश्चात धक्का मार कर पेड़ को गिरा दो। जिससे ढोंगी सन्यासी अपने आप भूमि पर गिर जाएगा। सब ने ऐसा ही किया और उस ढोंगी सनयासी का वहीं अंत हो गया। 

बोधिसत्व उस समय निकट ही एक वृक्ष के खोखले में निवास करते थे। उन्होंने शूकर का साहस व उसकी कुशलता देखकर नीचे लिखी गाथा कहीं 

"समस्त समवेत जातियों की जय हो। मैंने स्वयं एक आश्चर्यजनक संगठन देखा है कि शूकरों ने एक बार संघ शक्ति और सम्मिलित दंत शक्ति के द्वारा वनराज केसरी को परास्त कर दिया।"

In ancient times, when Maharaja Brahmdutt used to rule in Kashi, some carpenters lived in a village near Kashi. One of them found a piggy fell in a pit while chopping wood in the forest. He took her out and brought her home and with great care began to raise and teach her.

Slowly the pig grew and two sharp teeth started appearing outside its mouth. This young boar was very strong and soft-spoken. One day the carpenter decided to release him again in the forest with the idea of ​​protecting him from the carnivorous humans and left him in the forest.

That strong young pig roamed in the forest and started searching for his habitable tubers and edible tubers, fruits. At the same time he found many pigs of his caste, but all of them looked sad and weak. When he asked them about their calamity, they told him that in this forest there lives a hypocritical hermit, who has brought a lion from somewhere.

They are tormented by the fear of lions. Because he kills some pigs and eats it himself and also feeds that sannyasi. The carpenter's pig gave protection to all of them and all of them, seeing the courage of that pig, accepted him as their leader. Now everyone started thinking together to face the same.

The boar leader taught war skills to all the followers and by making a shakata array, keeping weak children, females and old people in its middle, appointed young and strong pigs in the outer part. Thus he got ready to face the lion and waited for him.

The lion came on time. From the top of the mountain he saw the arrayed pigs below and roared fiercely. But when he saw that not a single boar ran out of that array in fear. Then seeing the courage of the pig, he did not dare to attack. Seeing the lion returning empty-handed, the hypocrite sanyasi told this story, "When you used to go hunting for boar in the forest, you always used to bring good meat. Today you are coming empty handed mourning. Your past Where did the might go?"

To this Singh replied, "At first seeing me, there used to be a stampede in the boar group. They used to run away in fear towards their caves. But they did not dare to stand up to face me like a victor."

The hypocritical ascetic cursed the lion and said, "There is no need to be afraid of them. When you jump with a fierce roar, his spit-pittti will disappear and he will start running here and there in panic. Singh asked his master. He acted as instructed. He went into the forest and roared from a high hill and jumped. The hill was very high. The lion jumped and fell on its slope and while rolling it fell into a deep pit below.

The lion's bone rib was shattered. At the same time the leader of the pigs attacked and killed him along with his companions. On Singh's death the leader said, "Now you have become fearless." The pigs said- Where now as long as that hypocritical monk is alive, the lion will not stop coming. He'll call someone again. The leader said well let's see him too.

Everyone started walking towards his cave. When it was too late while waiting for the lion, the hypocritical sannyasi murmured and went in search of him. On the way, when he saw a herd of pigs coming towards him, he was very frightened and ran and climbed a fig tree. Pig surrounded the tree. Now the leader told that everyone should dig the soil around the tree with their giggles. Roots will come out from this, then cut those joints also with teeth. This will weaken the tree. After this push the tree down. Due to which the hypocritical sannyasi will fall on the ground on his own. Everyone did the same and that hypocritical monk ended there.

Bodhisattvas used to reside in the hollow of a tree nearby at that time. Seeing the courage and skill of the pig, he wrote the story below.

"Victory to all the assembled castes. I myself have seen a wonderful organization that the boars once defeated Vanraj Kesari by the union power and combined dental power."
