घुश्मेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग/धृष्णेश्वर मन्दिर ज्योतिर्लिंग

महाराष्ट्र में औरंगाबाद के नजदीक दौलताबाद से 11 किलोमीटर दूर वेरुल गांव के पास घृष्णेश्वर या घुश्मेश्वर महादेव का मंदिर स्थित है। यह 12 ज्योतिर्लिंगों में से एक है। यह आखिरी ज्योतिर्लिंग है।

पौराणिक कथा-

इस ज्योतिर्लिंग के विषय में पुराणों में यह कथा वर्णित है-

दक्षिण देश में देव गिरी पर्वत के निकट सुधर्मा नामक एक अत्यंत तेजस्वी तपोनिष्ट ब्राह्मण रहता था।उसकी पत्नी का नाम सुदेहा था। दोनों में परस्पर प्रेम था किसी प्रकार का कोई कष्ट नहीं था, लेकिन उन्हें संतान नहीं थी।

सुदेहा संतान की बहुत इच्छुक थी। उसने सुधर्मा से अपनी छोटी बहन से दूसरा विवाह करने का आग्रह किया। पहले तो सुधर्मा को यह बात नहीं जंची,लेकिन अंत में उसे पत्नी की जिद के आगे झुकना ही पड़ा। वे अपनी पत्नी की छोटी बहन घुश्मा को विवाह कर घर ले आए। घुश्मा अत्यंत विनीत और सदाचार स्त्री थी। वह भगवान शिव की अनन्य भक्ता थी ‌प्रतिदिन 101 पार्थिव शिवलिंग बनाकर हृदय की सच्ची निष्ठा के साथ उनका पूजन करती थी।

भगवान शिव की कृपा से थोड़े दिनों के बाद ही उसके गर्भ से अत्यंत सुंदर बालक ने जन्म लिया। बच्चे के जन्म से सुदेहा और घुश्मा दोनों के आनंद का पार न रहा। दोनों के दिन बड़े आराम से बीत रहे थे ।लेकिन ना जाने कैसे थोड़े ही दिनों बाद सुदेहा के मन में एक कुविचार ने जन्म लिया। वह सोचने लगी, मेरा तो इस घर में कुछ है नहीं सब कुछ घुश्मा का है । मेरे पति पर भी उसने अधिकार जमा लिया । संतान भी उसी की है। यह कुविचार उसके मन में बढ़ने लगा। इधर घुश्मा का वह बालक भी बड़ा हो रहा था। धीरे-धीरे वह जवान हो गया और उसका विवाह भी हो गया‌।

अबतक सुधर्मा के मन का विचार रूपी अंकुर एक विशाल वृक्ष का रूप ले लिया, अंततः एक दिन उसने घुश्मा के युवा पुत्र को रात में सोते समय मार डाला। उसके शव को उसी तालाब में फेंक दिया जिसमें घुश्मा प्रतिदिन पार्थिव शिवलिंगों को विसर्जित करती थी। सुबह होते ही सब को इस बात का पता लगा ।पूरे घर में कोहराम मच गया सुधर्मा और उसकी पुत्रवधू सिर पीटकर फूट-फूट कर रोने लगे। लेकिन घुश्मा नित्य की भांति भगवान शिव की आराधना में तल्लीन रही, जैसे कुछ हुआ ही ना हो। पूजा समाप्त करने के बाद वह पार्थिव शिवलिंगों को तालाब में छोड़ने के लिए चल पड़ी, जब वह तालाब से लौटने लगी उसी समय उसका प्यारा लाल तालाब के भीतर से निकल कर आता हुआ दिखलाई पड़ा। वह सदा की भांति आकर घुश्मा के चरणों पर गिर पड़ा जैसे कहीं आस-पास से ही घूम कर आ रहा हो। इसी समय भगवान शिव भी उसकी भक्ति से प्रसन्न हो वहां प्रकट होकर घुश्मा से वर मांगने को कहने लगे। वह सुदेहा की घिनौनी करतूत से अत्यंत क्रुद्ध हो उठे थे ।अपने त्रिशूल द्वारा उसका गला काटने को उद्यत दिखलाई दे रहे थे। घुश्मा ने हाथ जोड़कर भगवान शिव से कहा -'प्रभु यदि आप मुझ पर प्रसन्न हैं तो मेरी उस अभागिन बहन को क्षमा कर दें निश्चित ही उसने अत्यंत जघन्य पाप किया है किंतु आप की दया से मुझे मेरा पुत्र वापस मिल गया है अब आप उसे क्षमा करें प्रभु!'

मेरी एक प्रार्थना और है, लोक कल्याण के लिए आप इस स्थान पर सर्वदा के लिए निवास करें! भगवान शिव ने उसकी यह दोनों बातें स्वीकार कर ली। ज्योतिर्लिंग के रूप में प्रकट होकर वह वही निवास करने लगे ।सती शिव भक्त घुश्मा के आराध्य होने के कारण वे वहां घुश्मेश्वर महादेव के नाम से विख्यात हुए। घुश्मेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग की महिमा पुराणों में बहुत विस्तार से वर्णित की गई है। इनका दर्शन लोक परलोक दोनों के लिए अमोघ फलदाई है।

Ghushmeshwar Jyotirlinga

 A temple of Ghrishneshwar or Ghushmeshwar Mahadev is located near Verul village, 11 km from Daulatabad, near Aurangabad in Maharashtra. It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas.

 Mythology-

 This story is described in the Puranas about this Jyotirlinga.

 Near the Dev Giri mountain in the south country lived an extremely fiery taphonish Brahmin named Sudharma. His wife's name was Sudeha. The two had mutual love, there was no trouble of any kind, but they did not have children.

 Sudeha was very keen for children. He urges Sudharma to remarry to his younger sister. At first Sudharma did not see this, but in the end he had to bow to the insistence of his wife. He married his wife's younger sister Ghushma and brought them home. Ghushma was a very gracious and virtuous woman. She was an exclusive devotee of Lord Shiva and worshiped him with true devotion to his heart by making 101 Parthiv Shivlinga every day.

 Only a few days by the grace of Lord Shiva, a very beautiful child was born from her womb. The birth of the child did not cross the pleasure of both Sudeha and Ghushma. The days of both were passing very comfortably, but do not know how soon after, a misconception was born in Sudeha's mind. She started thinking, I have nothing in this house, everything is of Ghushma. He also took control of my husband. He also has a child. This idea started to grow in his mind. Here Ghushma's child was also growing up. Gradually he became young and he was also married.

 By now, the seedling of Sudharma's mind took the form of a huge tree, eventually one day he killed Ghushma's young son while sleeping at night. He threw his body in the same pond in which Ghushma used to immerse the earthly Shivalingas daily. Everybody came to know about this in the morning. The whole house was disturbed by Sudharma and his daughter-in-law beating their heads and crying bitterly. But Ghushma, as usual, was engrossed in worshiping Lord Shiva, as if nothing had happened. After finishing the pooja, she started to leave the earthly Shivalingas in the pond, when she started returning from the pond, at the same time her beloved Lal was seen coming out of the pond. He always came and fell at the feet of Ghushma as if he was coming from somewhere nearby. At the same time Lord Shiva too was pleased with his devotion and appeared there and started asking Ghushma to ask for a bride. He was extremely angry with Sudeha's disgusting handiwork. He was looking forward to cutting his throat with his trident. Ghushma folded her hands and said to Lord Shiva - 'Prabhu, if you are happy with me, then forgive that unfortunate sister of mine. Surely she has committed a very heinous sin, but due to your kindness I have got my son back, now you forgive him. God!

 My one more prayer is, for the welfare of the people, you should live forever in this place! Lord Shiva accepted both of these things. Appearing as Jyotirlinga, he started living in the same residence. Due to the adoration of Satish Shiva devotee Ghushma, he became famous there by the name of Ghushmeshwar Mahadev. The glory of Ghushmeshwar Jyotirlinga is described in great detail in the Puranas. His philosophy is unfailing for both the worldly heavens.
