भीमाशंकर ज्योतिर्लिंग मंदिर ~ Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga Temple

आज हम स्वयंभू शिव शंकर के छठे ज्योतिर्लिंग के बारे में चर्चा करेंगे। शिव जी का यह प्रसिद्ध भीमाशंकर ज्योतिर्लिंग महाराष्ट्र के भोरगिरी गांव से 50 किलोमीटर उत्तर - पश्चिम पुणे से लगभग 110 किलोमीटर में स्थित है। यह पश्चिमी घाट के सह्याद्री पर्वत पर स्थित है। यहीं से भीमा नदी भी निकलती है। यह दक्षिण - पश्चिम दिशा में बहती हुई कर्नाटक के रायचूर जिले में कृष्णा नदी से जा मिलती है। इस मंदिर में स्थित शिवलिंग काफी बड़ा और मोटा है, इसलिए इसे 'मोटेश्वर महादेव' भी कहा जाता है। यह स्थान नासिक से लगभग 120 मील दूर है।

3250 फिट की ऊंचाई पर स्थित यह मंदिर पूरे देश में आस्था के एक बड़े केंद्र के रूप में जाना जाता है। मंदिर अत्यंत पुराना और कलात्मक है। यहां की मूर्तियों से निरंतर पानी गिरता रहता है। मंदिर के पीछे दो कुंड भी है। हर वर्ष महाशिवरात्रि और हर महीने पड़ने वाले शिवरात्रि के मौके पर यहां भक्तों की भारी संख्या दर्शन के लिए आती है।

कथा-

पौराणिक ग्रंथ शिवपुराण में लंका के राजा रावण के भाई कुंभकरण के बेटे के अत्याचारों और उसके संहार की एक कथा है-

कुंभकरण के पुत्र भीमा का जन्म अपने पिता की मृत्यु के बाद हुआ था।बचपन में उसे इस बात का आभास नहीं था कि भगवान राम ने उसके पिता का वध किया है। जैसे जैसे वह बड़ा हुआ वैसे वैसे इस बात का उसे पता लगा। बदले की भावना में वह जलने लगा और अपने पिता की हत्या का बदला लेने का प्रण किया। उसे पता था कि राम से युद्ध कर जितना आसान नहीं है, इसलिए उसने घोर तपस्या की और ब्रह्मा जी को प्रसन्न किया। ब्रह्मा जी ने उसे विजयी होने का वरदान दिया। इसके बाद भीमा ने अपने असुर शक्ति का इस्तेमाल कर लोगों को नुकसान पहुंचाना शुरू कर दिया। उसके अत्याचार से सिर्फ मानव ही नहीं देवतागण भी त्रस्त हो गए। चारों ओर त्राहि-त्राहि मच गई,अंततः देवताओं ने भगवान शिव से मदद की गुहार की।

भगवान शिव ने उसके अत्याचार से देवताओं को मुक्त कराने का वादा किया और स्वयं उसका संहार करने का निर्णय लिया। लड़ाई में भगवान शिव ने दुष्ट राक्षस को राख कर दिया और इस तरह अत्याचार की कहानी का अंत हुआ।महादेव ने जिस स्थान पर भीमा का वध किया वह स्थान देवताओं के लिए पूज्यनीय हो गया। सभी ने भगवान शिव से उसी स्थान पर शिवलिंग रूप में प्रकट होने की प्रार्थना की। भगवान शिव देवताओं का निवेदन स्वीकार किए और उसी स्थान पर शिवलिंग के रूप में प्रकट हुए। तभी से इस स्थान को भीमाशंकर के नाम से जाना जाता है।

मंदिर की संरचना

भीमाशंकर मंदिर नागर शैली की वास्तुकला से बनी एक प्राचीन और नई संरचना का सम्मिश्रण है। इस मंदिर में प्राचीन विश्वकर्मा वास्तुशिल्पियों के कौशल श्रेष्ठता का पता चलता है। इस सुंदर मंदिर का शिखर नाना फडणवीस द्वारा 18 वीं सदी में बनवाया गया था। कहा जाता है कि मराठा शासक शिवाजी ने इस मंदिर की पूजा के लिए कई तरह की सुविधाएं प्रदान कीं।

नाना फडणवीस द्वारा निर्मित हेमादिपंथी की संरचना में बनाया गया एक बड़ा घंटा भीमाशंकर की एक विशेषता है। भीमाशंकर लाल वन क्षेत्र और वन्य जीव अभयारण्य द्वारा संरक्षित है, जहां पक्षियों, जानवरों, फूलों और पौधों की भरमार है। यह जगह श्रद्धालुओं के साथ-साथ ट्रैकर्स प्रेमियों के लिए भी प्रसिद्ध है। यह मंदिर पुणे में बहुत ही प्रसिद्ध है।यहां दुनिया भर से लोग दर्शन और पूजन के लिए आते हैं। भीमाशंकर मंदिर के पास पार्वती जी का कमलजा (पार्वती जी काअवतार) मंदिर है।

Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga Temple

Today we will discuss about the sixth Jyotirlinga of Swayambhu Shiv Shankar. This famous Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga of Shiv ji is located about 50 km north-west of Bhorgiri village in Maharashtra, about 110 km from Pune. It is situated on the Sahyadri Mountains of the Western Ghats. The Bhima river also originates from here. It flows in the south-west direction and joins the Krishna River in Raichur district of Karnataka. The Shivalinga situated in this temple is quite big and thick, hence it is also known as 'Motheshwar Mahadev'. The place is about 120 miles from Nashik.

Situated at an altitude of 3250 feet, this temple is known throughout the country as a major center of faith. The temple is very old and artistic. The water continuously keeps falling from the idols here. There are also two pools behind the temple. A large number of devotees visit here on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri every year and Shivaratri that falls every month.

Story

The mythological treatise Shivpuran has a story about the atrocities and the extermination of the son of Kumbhakaran, brother of King Ravana of Lanka - Kumbhakaran's son Bhima was born after his father's death. In childhood, he had no idea that Lord Rama had killed his father. As he grew up, he came to know about this. He started burning in revenge and vowed to avenge his father's murder.

He knew that fighting Rama is not as easy, so he did austerity and pleased Brahma Ji. Brahma ji gave him the boon of winning. After this, Bhima used his demonic power to harm the people. Not only human beings but also gods were plagued by his atrocities. There was chaos all around, eventually the gods requested help from Lord Shiva.

Lord Shiva promised to free the gods from his atrocities and decided to kill him himself. In the battle, Lord Shiva turned the evil demon to ashes and thus ended the story of tyranny. The place where Mahadev killed Bhima became revered for the gods. Everyone prayed to Lord Shiva to appear in the same place as Shivalinga. Lord Shiva accepted the requests of the gods and appeared in the same place as Shivalinga. Since then this place is known as Bhimashankar.

Temple structure

The Bhimashankar Temple is an amalgam of an ancient and new structure made of Nagara style architecture. The skill superiority of ancient Vishwakarma sculptors is revealed in this temple. The peak of this beautiful temple was built by Nana Fadnavis in the 18th century. It is said that the Maratha ruler Shivaji provided many facilities for the worship of this temple.

A large bell built in the structure of Hemadipanthi, built by Nana Fadnavis, is a feature of Bhimashankar. Bhimashankar is protected by the Red Forest Region and Wildlife Sanctuary, which is rich in birds, animals, flowers and plants. This place is famous for the devotees as well as the trekkers lovers. This temple is very famous in Pune.
