चमड़े की धोती

एक समय एक घमंडी साधु को किसी ने चमड़े की धोती दान में दे दी। दान में मिली धोती पहनकर वह साधु अपने को अन्य साधुओं से श्रेष्ठ समझने लगा।

एक रोज वह उसी चमड़े की धोती को पहनकर भिक्षाटन के लिए घूम रहा था। रास्ते में उसे एक बड़ा सा जंगली भेड़ मिला। वह भेड़ थोड़ा पीछे हटकर अपना सिर झटक - झटक कर नीचे करने लगा। साधु ने समझा कि निश्चय ही वह भेड़ झुक कर उसका अभिवादन करना चाहता था। क्योंकि वह एक श्रेष्ठ साधु था, जिसके पास चमड़े के वस्त्र थे।

तभी इस दृश्य को दूर से देखते एक व्यापारी ने साधु को आगाह करते हुए कहा - "हे ब्राह्मण! मत कर तू विश्वास ऐसे जानवर का; बनते हैं यह पतन का कारण; यह पीछे जाकर करते हैं पीछे से आक्रमण।"

ब्राह्मण अपने घमंड में राहगीर की बातों को नजरअंदाज कर दिया। उसी क्षण उस जंगली भेड़ ने साधु पर अपने नुकीले सींग से आक्रमण कर दिया और ब्राह्मण को नीचे गिरा दिया। ब्राह्मण का पेट फट गया और क्षण भर में ही वह अपना दम तोड़ दिया।

Once upon a time someone donated a leather dhoti to an arrogant monk. Wearing a donated dhoti, the sage began to consider himself superior to other sages.

One day he was walking for alms, wearing the same leather dhoti. On the way he found a big wild sheep. He sent back a little and began to lower his head with a crack. The monk understood that he definitely wanted to bow down and greet him. Because he was a superior monk who had leather garments.

Seeing this scene from a distance, a businessman warned the monk and said - "O Brahmin! Do not believe such an animal; It causes a downfall; It goes back and attacks from behind."

The Brahmin ignored the passerby in his pride. At that moment the wild sheep attacked the monk with his pointed horn and brought down the Brahmin. The Brahmin's stomach was torn and he died in a moment.
