तेनालीराम - चोरी पकड़ी

एक बार विजयनगर राज्य में लगातार चोरी होनी शुरू हुई। हर दिन कहीं न कहीं चोरी की घटनाएं घटने लगी। साधारण जनता तो परेशान थी ही, पर सेठ साहूकार चोरी की घटना से ज्यादा परेशान थे। सेठों ने आकर राजा के दरबार में दुहाई दी - "महाराज! हम लूट गए बरबाद हो गए। रात को ताला तोड़कर चोर हमारी तिजोरी का सारा धन उड़ा ले गए।"

राजा कृष्णदेव राय ने इन घटनाओं की जांच कोतवाल से करवाई, पर कुछ भी हाथ नहीं लगा। 

राजा बहुत चिंतित हुए। चोरी की घटनाएं होती रहीं। चोरों की हिम्मत बढ़ती जा रही थी। 

बात को बहुत ज्यादा बिगड़ता देख राजा ने एक सभा बुलाई। महाराज ने सभा में मौजूद दरबारियों पर नाराजगी जताते हुए कहा - "क्या आप में से कोई भी ऐसा नहीं, जो चोरों को पकड़वाने की जिम्मेदारी ले सके?"

सारे दरबारी एक- दूसरे का मुंह देखने लगे। तेनालीराम ने उठकर कहा - महाराज! यह जिम्मेदारी मैं लूंगा। महाराज ने थोड़ी राहत की सांस लेते हुए कहा - तेनालीराम! जल्द से जल्द उन चोरों  लगाओ। 

तेनालीराम वहां से उठकर नगर के एक प्रमुख जौहरी के यहां गए। उस जौहरी से तेनालीराम ने अपनी योजना बताई और घर लौट आये। 

अगले दिन उस जौहरी ने अपने यहां आभूषणों की एक बड़ी प्रदर्शनी लगवाई। रात होने पर उसने सारे आभूषणों को एक तिजोरी में रखकर ताला लगा दिया। आधी रात को चोर आ धमके। ताला तोड़कर तिजोरी में रखे सारे आभूषण थैले में डालकर वे बाहर आए। जैसे ही वे सेठ की हवेली से बाहर जाने लगे सेठ को पता चल गया, उसने शोर मचा दिया। आस-पास के लोग भी आ जुटे। तेनालीराम भी अपने सिपाहियों के साथ वहीं छिपे बैठे थे। चारों तरफ से सभी को घेर लिया गया। 

तेनालीराम ने सैनिकों को आदेश दिया कि जिनके हाथों में लाल रंग लगा हुआ है, उन्हें पकड़ लो। तुरंत ही सारे चोर पकड़े गए। 

अगले दिन चोरों को दरबार में पेश किया गया। सभी के हाथों पर लगे रंग देखकर राजा ने पूछा - "तेनालीराम! यह क्या है?" 

तेनालीराम बोले - "महाराज! हमने तिजोरी पर गीला रंग लगा दिया था ताकि चोरी के इरादे से आए चोरों के शरीर पर रंग चढ़ जाए और हम उन्हें आसानी से पकड़ सकें।"

महाराज ने पूछा - "पर तुम वहां सिपाहियों को तैनात कर सकते थे।"

तेनालीराम बोले - "महाराज! इसमें उनके चोरों से मिल जाने की संभावना थी। दूसरी बात सिपाहियों की भनक लगने से चोर चोरी करने नहीं आते। यह सुनकर राजा कृष्णदेव राय ने तेनालीराम की खूब प्रशंसा की।

Chori Pakdi

Once upon a time there was constant piracy in the Vijayanagara kingdom. Every day the incidents of theft started happening somewhere. The general public was upset, but Seth Sahukar was more worried than the incident of theft. The Seths came and cried in the king's court - "Your Majesty! We were robbed and ruined. By breaking the lock at night, the thieves took away all the money in our vault."

King Krishna Deva Raya got these incidents investigated by the Kotwal, but nothing worked.

The king was very worried. Incidents of theft continued. The courage of the thieves was increasing.

Seeing things getting worse, the king called a meeting. The Maharaj expressed his displeasure at the courtiers present in the meeting and said - "Isn't there any of you who can take the responsibility of catching the thieves?"

All the courtiers looked at each other's faces. Tenaliram got up and said - Maharaj! I will take this responsibility. The Maharaj, breathing a sigh of relief, said - Tenaliram! Find those thieves as soon as possible.

Tenaliram got up from there and went to a prominent jeweler of the city. Tenaliram told his plan to that jeweler and returned home.

The next day the jeweler got a big exhibition of jewelery set up in his place. At night, he kept all the jewelery in a safe and locked it. Thieves came in the middle of the night. They came out by breaking the lock and putting all the jewelery kept in the safe in the bag. As soon as they started leaving Seth's mansion, Seth came to know about it, he made a noise. Neighbors also gathered. Tenaliram was also sitting there hiding with his soldiers. Everyone was surrounded from all sides.

Tenaliram ordered the soldiers to catch those whose hands were painted red. All the thieves were caught immediately.

The thieves were presented in the court the next day. Seeing the colors on everyone's hands, the king asked - "Tenaliram! What is this?"

Tenaliram said - "Your Majesty! We had put wet paint on the safe so that the thieves who came with the intention of stealing could get paint on their bodies and we could catch them easily."

Maharaj asked - "But you could have posted the soldiers there."

Tenaliram said - "Maharaj! There was a possibility of him joining the thieves. Secondly, because of the knowledge of the soldiers, thieves do not come to steal. On hearing this, King Krishnadevaraya praised Tenaliram very much.

 तेनालीराम - कंजूस सेठ और चित्रकार

एक समय पर राजा कृष्णदेव राय के राज्य में एक कंजूस सेठ हुआ करता था। उसके पास धन की कोई कमी न थी, पर एक पैसा भी जेब से निकालते समय मानो उसकी जान जाती थी। एक बार उसके कुछ मित्रों ने हंसी-हंसी में एक कलाकार से अपना चित्र बनवाने के लिए उसे राजी कर लिया। उसके सामने वह मान तो गया, पर जब चित्रकार उसका चित्र बनाकर लाया तो सेठ की हिम्मत न पड़ी कि चित्र के मूल्य के रूप में चित्रकार को सौ स्वर्ण मुद्राएं दे दे।

 चित्रकार को आया देखकर सेठ अंदर गया और कुछ ही क्षणों में अपना चेहरा बदलकर बाहर आया। उसने चित्रकार से कहा - "तुम्हारा चित्र जरा भी ठीक नहीं बना है। तुम्हीं बताओ, क्या तुम्हारे द्वारा बनाया गया चित्र मेरे चेहरे से जरा भी मिलता है?" 

चित्रकार ने देखा, सचमुच चित्र सेठ के चेहरे से जरा भी नहीं मिलता था।

तभी कंजूस सेठ बोला - "जब तुम ऐसा चित्र बनाकर लाओगे, जो ठीक मेरी शक्ल से मिलेगा, तभी मैं उसे खरीदूंगा।"

दूसरे दिन चित्रकार एक और चित्र बनाकर लाया, जो हूबहू सेठ के उस चेहरे से मिलता था, जो सेठ ने पहले दिन बना रखा था। इस बार फिर सेठ ने अपना चेहरा बदल लिया और चित्रकार के चित्र में कमी निकालने लगा। 

चित्रकार बड़ा लज्जित हुआ। उसकी समझ में नहीं आ रहा था कि इस तरह की गलती उसके चित्र में क्यों हो रही है? अगले दिन वह फिर एक नया चित्र बनाकर ले गया, पर उसके साथ फिर वही हुआ। अब तक चित्रकार की समझ में सेठ की चाल आ चुकी थी। 

वह जानता था कि यह मक्खीचूस सेठ असल में पैसे नहीं देना चाहता है, पर चित्रकार अपनी कई दिनों की मेहनत भी बेकार नहीं जाने देना चाहता था। बहुत सोंच-विचार कर चित्रकार तेनालीराम के पास पहुंचा और अपनी समस्या उनसे कह सुनाई।

कुछ समय सोचने के बाद तेनालीराम ने कहा - "कल तुम उसके पास एक शीशा लेकर जाओ और कहो कि इस बार बिल्कुल असली तस्वीर लेकर आया हूं। अच्छी तरह मिलाकर देख लीजिए। कहीं कोई अंतर आपको नहीं मिलेगा। बस, फिर अपना काम हुआ ही समझो।"

अगले दिन चित्रकार ने ऐसा ही किया। वह शीशा लेकर सेठ के यहां पहुंचा और उसके सामने रख दिया। देखिये सेठजी, आपका बिल्कुल सही चित्र। गलती की इसमें जरा भी गुंजाइश नहीं है। चित्रकार ने अपनी मुस्कराहट पर काबू पाते हुए कहा। 

लेकिन यह तो शीशा है,सेठ ने झुंझलाते हुए कहा। 

चित्रकार बोला - "आपकी असली सूरत शीशे के अलावा बना भी कौन सकता है? अब जल्दी से मेरे चित्रों का मूल्य एक हजार स्वर्ण मुद्राएं मुझे दे दीजिये।  

सेठ समझ गया कि यह सब तेनालीराम की सूझबूझ का परिणाम है। उसने तुरंत एक हजार स्वर्णमुद्राएं चित्रकार को दे दीं। इसतरह चित्रकार के मेहनत के पैसे उसे मिल  गए। 

English Translate

Tenaliram and Kanjus Seth

Once upon a time there used to be a miserly Seth in the kingdom of King Krishna Deva Raya. He had no shortage of money, but while taking out a single penny from his pocket, it was as if he had lost his life. Once some of his friends laughingly persuaded an artist to get him painted. He agreed in front of him, but when the painter brought him a picture, Seth did not dare to give a hundred gold coins to the painter as the value of the picture.

 Seeing the painter coming, Seth went inside and within a few moments came out with his face changed. He said to the painter - "Your picture is not made right at all. Tell me, does the picture made by you resemble my face at all?"

The painter saw that the picture really did not match Seth's face at all.

Then the miser Seth said - "When you will bring such a picture, which will match my face, only then I will buy it."

On the second day the painter brought another painting which was exactly the same as the face of Seth that Seth had drawn on the first day. This time again Seth changed his face and began to find fault with the portrait of the painter.

The painter was ashamed. He could not understand why such a mistake is happening in his picture. The next day he took a new picture again, but the same thing happened to him again. By now Seth's trick had come to the painter's understanding.

He knew that this scoundrel Seth really did not want to give money, but the painter did not want to let his many days of hard work go in vain. After much deliberation, the painter approached Tenaliram and narrated his problem to him.

After thinking for some time, Tenaliram said - "Tomorrow you go to him with a mirror and say that this time I have come with a real picture. Mix it well and you will not find any difference. That's it, then your work is done." understand."

The next day the painter did the same. He reached Seth's place with the mirror and placed it in front of him. See Sethji, your perfect picture. There is no room for error in this. The painter said, controlling his smile.

But this is a mirror, Seth said angrily.

The painter said - "Who can make your real face apart from the mirror? Now quickly give me one thousand gold coins worth my paintings.

Seth understood that all this was the result of Tenaliram's wisdom. He immediately gave one thousand gold coins to the painter. In this way he got the money for the painter's hard work.

तेनालीराम - बड़ा कौन || Tenali Raman - Bada Kaun ||

 बड़ा कौन

एक बार राजा कृष्णदेव राय अपनी पत्नी के साथ बैठे बातें कर रहे थे। बातों बातों में तेनालीराम की बात चली, तो राजा कृष्णदेव राय बोले - "सचमुच हमारे दरबार में तेनालीराम जैसा चतुर कोई और नहीं है। इसलिए अभी तक तो कोई उसे हरा नहीं पाया है।"

राजा की बात सुनकर रानी बोली - "आप कल तेनालीराम को भोजन के लिए महल में आमंत्रित करें। मैं तेनालीराम को जरूर हरा दूंगी।"

राजा ने मुस्कुराकर हामी भर ली। अगले दिन रानी ने अपने हाथों से स्वादिष्ट पकवान बनाए। तेनालीराम के समक्ष पकवान पेश किये गए। राजा के साथ बैठे तेनालीराम उन पकवानों की जी-भरकर प्रशंसा करते हुए खाते जा रहे थे। खाने के बाद रानी ने तेनालीराम को बढ़िया पान का बीड़ा भी खाने को दिया।

तेनालीराम मुस्कराकर बोले - "सचमुच, आज जैसा खाने का आनंद तो मुझे कभी नहीं आया। मन तृप्त हो गया। तभी रानी ने तेनालीराम से पूछ लिया - "अच्छा तेनालीराम एक बात बताओ। राजा बड़े हैं या मैं?"

अब तो तेनालीराम का माथा घुमा कि रानी के सवाल का क्या जवाब दे। राजा और रानी भी उत्सुकता से देख रहे थे कि भला तेनालीराम क्या जवाब देता है?

तेनालीराम भी कहाँ कम थे, फटाक से अपने दोनों हाथ जोड़कर पहले धरती को प्रणाम किया, फिर एकाएक जमीन पर गिर पड़े।

रानी घबराकर बोली - "अरे-अरे, यह क्या तेनालीराम? तेनालीराम उठकर खड़े हो गए और बोले - "महारानी! मेरे लिए तो आप धरती हैं और राजा आसमान, दोनों में से किसे छोटा, किसे बड़ा कहूं? कुछ समझ में नहीं आ रहा है?वैसे आज महारानी के हाथों का बना भोजन इतना स्वादिष्ट था कि उन्हीं को बड़ा कहना होगा। इसलिए मैं धरती को ही दंडवत प्रणाम कर रहा था।"

तेनालीराम की बात सुनकर राजा और रानी दोनों खुश हुए और रानी बोली - " तेनालीराम! तुम सचमुच चतुर हो।  मुझे भी जिता दिया और हारकर खुद भी जीत गए। 

English Translate

who is the elder

Once King Krishnadev Raya was talking with his wife. Talking about Tenaliram, King Krishnadev Raya said - "There is really no one else as clever as Tenaliram in our court. That's why no one has been able to defeat him so far."

After listening to the king, the queen said - "You invite Tenaliram to the palace for food tomorrow. I will definitely defeat Tenaliram."

The king agreed with a smile. The next day the queen made a delicious dish with her own hands. Dishes were presented to Tenaliram. Tenaliram, who was sitting with the king, was going to eat, praising those dishes wholeheartedly. After eating, the queen gave Tenaliram a piece of fine betel leaf to eat.

Tenaliram smiled and said - "Really, I have never had the pleasure of eating like today. The mind was satisfied. Then the queen asked Tenaliram - "Well Tenaliram, tell me one thing. Is the king older or me?"

Now Tenaliram's head turned around that what should be the answer of the queen's question. The king and queen were also eagerly watching what Tenaliram would answer.

Where Tenaliram was also less, he first bowed down to the earth with both his hands folded, then suddenly fell on the ground.

The queen panicked and said - "Hey, what is this Tenaliram? Tenaliram stood up and said - "Empress! For me, you are the earth and the king of the sky, which of the two should I call smaller, which is bigger? Do not understand anything? Well today the food prepared by the queen's hands was so delicious that she would have to say big. That's why I was bowing down to the earth itself."

Both the king and the queen were happy after listening to Tenaliram and the queen said - "Tenaliram! You are really smart. Gave me the victory and defeated myself.

तेनालीराम की चुटिया  

राजा कृष्ण देव राय और तेनालीरमन में किसी किसी बात पर चर्चा होती रहती थी। एक दिन बातों-बातों में राजा कृष्णदेव राय ने तेनालीरमन से पूछा - "अच्छा, यह बताओ कि किस प्रकार के लोग सबसे अधिक मूर्ख होते हैं और किस प्रकार के सबसे अधिक सयाने? 

तेनालीरमन ने तुरंत उत्तर दिया - "महाराज! ब्राह्मण सबसे अधिक मूर्ख और व्यापारी सबसे अधिक सयाने होते हैं। 

राजा ने कहा - "ऐसा कैसे हो सकता है?"

तेनालीराम ने कहा - "मैं यह बात साबित कर सकता हूं।

राजा कृष्ण देव राय ने पूछा - कैसे?

तेनालीराम ने कहा - "अभी जान जाएंगे आप। पहले जरा राजगुरु को बुलवाइए। 

राजगुरु को बुलवाया गया।

तेनालीराम ने कहा - "महाराज, अब मैं अपनी बात साबित करूंगा, लेकिन इस काम में आप दखल नहीं देंगे। आप यह वचन दें, तभी मैं काम आरंभ करूंगा।" 

राजा ने तेनालीराम की बात मान ली।

तेनालीराम ने आदरपूर्वक राजगुरु से कहा - "राजगुरु! महाराज को आपकी चोटी की आवश्यकता है। इसके बदले आपको मुंहमांगा इनाम दिया जाएगा। 

राजगुरु को काटो तो खून नहीं। वर्षों से पाली गई प्यारी चोटी को कैसे कटवा दें? लेकिन राजा की आज्ञा कैसे टाली जा सकती थी?

राजगुरु ने कहा - "तेनालीराम, मैं इसे कैसे दे सकता हूं?

तेनालीराम ने कहा - "राजगुरु! आपने जीवनभर महाराज का नमक खाया है। चोटी कोई ऐसी वस्तु तो है नहीं, जो फिर न आ सके। फिर महाराज मुंहमांगा इनाम भी दे रहे हैं। "

राजगुरु मन ही मन समझ गए कि यह तेनालीराम की जरूर कोई चाल है।

तेनालीराम ने पूछा - "राजगुरु, आपको चोटी के बदले क्या इनाम चाहिए? 

राजगुरु ने कहा - पांच स्वर्ण मुद्राएं बहुत होंगी। 

पांच स्वर्ण मुद्राएं राजगुरु को दे दी गईं और नाई को बुलवाकर राजगुरु की चोटी कटवा दी गई। 

अब तेनालीरमन ने नगर के सबसे प्रसिद्ध व्यापारी को बुलवाया। 

तेनालीराम ने व्यापारी से कहा - महाराज को तुम्हारी चोटी की आवश्यकता है। 

व्यापारी ने कहा - "सब कुछ महाराज का ही तो है, जब चाहें ले लें। लेकिन बस इतना ध्यान रखें कि मैं एक गरीब आदमी हूं। 

तेनालीराम ने कहा - "तुम्हें तुम्हारी चोटी का मुंहमांगा दाम दिया जाएगा।"

व्यापारी ने कहा - "सब आपकी कृपा है लेकिन। लेकिन कहकर व्यापारी चुप हो गया। 

तेनालीराम ने पूछा - "क्या कहना चाहते हो?"

व्यापारी ने कहा - "जी बात यह है कि जब मैंने अपनी बेटी का विवाह किया था, तो अपनी चोटी की लाज रखने के लिए पूरी पांच हजार स्वर्ण मुद्राएं खर्च की थीं। पिछले साल मेरे पिता की मौत हुई, तब भी इसी कारण पांच हजार स्वर्ण मुद्राओं का खर्च हुआ और अपनी इसी प्यारी-दुलारी चोटी के कारण बाजार से कम से कम पांच हजार स्वर्ण मुद्राओं का उधार मिल जाता है।

 तेनालीराम ने कहा - अच्छा तो इस तरह तुम्हारी चोटी का मूल्य पंद्रह हजार स्वर्ण मुद्राएं हुआ। तुम यही कहना चाहते हो ना। ठीक है, यह मूल्य तुम्हें दे दिया जाएगा।"

पंद्रह हजार स्वर्ण मुद्राएं व्यापारी को दे दी गईं। व्यापारी चोटी मुंडवाने बैठा। जैसे ही नाई ने चोटी पर उस्तरा रखा, व्यापारी कड़ककर बोला - "संभलकर, नाई के बच्चे। जानता नहीं, यह महाराज कृष्णदेव राय की चोटी है। 

राजा ने यह बात सुना तो आग-बबूला हो गए। इस व्यापारी की यह मजाल कि हमारा अपमान करे? 

उन्होंने कहा - "धक्के मारकर निकाल दो इस सिरफिरे को।"

व्यापारी पंद्रह हजार स्वर्ण मुद्राओं की थैली को लेकर वहां से भाग निकला। कुछ देर बाद तेनालीराम ने कहा - "आपने देखा महाराज, राजगुरु ने तो पांच स्वर्ण मुद्राएं लेकर अपनी चोटी मुंड़वा ली। व्यापारी पंद्रह हजार स्वर्ण मुद्राएं भी ले गया और चोटी भी बचा ली। आप ही कहिए, ब्राह्मण सयाना हुआ कि व्यापारी?"

राजा ने कहा - "सचमुच तुम्हारी बात ठीक निकली।"

English Translate

King Krishna Deva Raya and Tenaliraman used to discuss about something. One day, King Krishnadeva Raya asked Tenaliraman in conversation - "Well, tell me what kind of people are the most stupid and which type is the most grown up?

Tenaliraman immediately replied - "Your Majesty! Brahmins are the most foolish and traders are the most grown ups.

The king said - "How can this happen?"

Tenaliram said - "I can prove this.

King Krishna Deva Raya asked - How?

Tenaliram said - "You will know now. First just call Rajguru.

Rajguru was summoned.

Tenaliram said - "Sir, now I will prove my point, but you will not interfere in this work. If you give this promise, then I will start the work."

The king obeyed Tenaliram.

Tenaliram respectfully said to the Rajguru - "Rajguru! Maharaj needs your peak. In return you will be given a handsome reward.

If you cut Rajguru, there is no blood. How to cut off a lovely braid that has been cultivated over the years? But how could the king's order be avoided?

Rajaguru said - "Tenaliram, how can I give it?

Tenaliram said - "Rajguru! You have eaten Maharaj's salt throughout your life. There is no such thing as a peak which cannot come again. Then Maharaj is also giving a handsome reward."

Rajguru understood in his mind that this must be some trick of Tenaliram.

Tenaliram asked - "Rajguru, what reward do you want for the top?

Rajguru said - Five gold coins will be plenty.

The five gold coins were given to Rajguru and the hairdresser was called and Rajguru's top was cut off.

Now Tenaliraman called the most famous merchant of the city.

Tenaliram said to the merchant - Maharaj needs your peak.

The merchant said - "Everything belongs to the Maharaj, take it whenever you want. But just keep in mind that I am a poor man.

Tenaliram said - "You will be given a handsome price for your peak."

The merchant said - "All is your grace but. But saying that the merchant became silent.

Tenaliram asked - "What do you want to say?"

The merchant said - "The thing is, when I got my daughter married, I had spent the whole five thousand gold coins to keep my top honor. Last year my father died, even then five thousand rupees for this reason. Gold currencies are spent and due to this lovely peak, at least five thousand gold currencies are borrowed from the market.

 Tenaliram said - Well, in this way your peak was worth fifteen thousand gold coins. That's what you want to say, isn't it? Well, this price will be given to you."

Fifteen thousand gold coins were given to the merchant. The merchant sat down to shave the top. As soon as the barber placed the razor on the top, the merchant said sternly - "Be careful, children of the barber. I don't know, this is the peak of Maharaja Krishna Deva Raya.

When the king heard this, he was furious. It is the prank of this merchant to insult us?

He said - "Push out this madman."

The merchant fled from there with a bag of fifteen thousand gold coins. After sometime Tenaliram said - "You have seen, Maharaj, Rajguru has shaved his top with five gold coins. The merchant also took fifteen thousand gold coins and saved the top too. You can say that the brahmin is a grown-up or a merchant?"

The king said - "You are really right."

तेनालीराम - सबसे बड़ा जादूगर || Tenali Raman - Sabse Bada Jadugar ||

सबसे बड़ा जादूगर

जादूगर का खेल हमेशा से ही लोगों के लिए मनोरंजन का साधन रहा है। एक बार की बात जब राजा कृष्णदेव राय के दरबार में एक जादूगर आया। उसने कहा कि वह देश विदेश में बहुत जगह जादू दिखा चूका है और उसको बहुत इनाम मिले हैं। मैं यहाँ दरबार में भी जादू का खेल दिखाना चाहता हूँ। राजा के कहने पर उसने अपना जादू दिखाना शुरू किया। 

उसने कहा कि यह जादू एक प्रकार की हाथों की सफाई होती है। अगर किसी की नज़रें तेज़ हो तो वह इसको पकड़ भी सकता है। आप सब इस जादू को ध्यान से देखिये। उसने एक कबूतर के ऊपर लाल कपड़ा डालकर उसको अंडे में बदल दिया। वह बोला किसी ने देखा मैंने कैसे कबूतर को अंडे में बदल दिया? किसी को मेरे हाथ की सफाई का पता लगा मैंने यह कैसे किया? क्या यहाँ दरबार में सभी लोगों की आँखे कमजोर हैं। इसके बाद उसने उस अंडे के ऊपर लाल कपड़ा डाला और उसको सोने के सिक्के में बदल दिया। इसके बाद भी उसने सभी लोगों से पूछा किसी को मेरे हाथ की सफाई नज़र आयी। 

उसने तेनालीराम  को कहा कि आप तो बहुत बुद्धिमान हैं, लेकिन इस जादू के खेल में बुद्धिमानी काम नहीं आएगी। आपको तेज़ नज़रो से इसको पकड़ना होगा। फिर उस जादूगर ने कहा कि ध्यान से देखना कैसे मैं इस सोने के सिक्के को हवा में गायब करता हूँ? इसके बाद उसने सोने के सिक्के को ऊपर फेंका और वह गायब हो गया। जिससे सभी दरबार के लोग हैरान रह गए। उसने तेनालीराम को कहा कि आपकी आँखे भी कमजोर हैं। आप भी मेरा जादू नहीं पकड़ सके। 

इसके बाद वह दरबार में मौजूद सभी लोगों को कहने लगा कि कोई ऐसा व्यक्ति है, जो मेरे जैसा कुछ करके दिखा सकें। उसके घमंड को देखते हुए तेनालीराम ने कहा की मैं जो बंद आँखों से कर सकता हूँ, उसको तुम खुली आँखों से भी नहीं कर सकते। 

तेनालीराम की बात सुनकर जादूगर बोला, जो आप बंद आँखों से करोगे अगर मैं खुली आँखों से भी नहीं कर सका तो मैं आपका गुलाम बन जाऊंगा। यदि मैंने वह कर लिया तो आपको मेरा गुलाम बनना पड़ेगा। जब यह बात तय हो गयी तो तेनालीराम के कहने पर एक सैनिक लाल मिर्च का पाउडर लेकर आया। 

तेनाली ने अपनी आँखे बंद की और लाल मिर्च के पाउडर को अपनी आँखों के ऊपर डाल दिया। उसके बाद अपनी आंखे खोल ली। यह देखकर जादूगर ने सोंचा अब तो मैं फ़स चुका हूँ। अगर मैंने मिर्च का पाउडर अपनी आँखों में डाला तो मेरी आँखे फुट जाएँगी। अगर मैंने ऐसा नहीं किया तो मुझे तेनालीराम का गुलाम बनना पड़ेगा। उसने तेनालीराम से माफ़ी मांगी कि आप बहुत बुद्धिमान हैं मैं आपकी गुलामी को स्वीकार करता हूँ। 

तेनालीराम ने कहा :- मैं तुम्हें गुलाम नहीं बनाना चाहता हूँ। मैं चाहता हूँ कि तुम अपना घमंड और बदतमीजी छोड़ कर जादू का खेल दिखाओ और सभी लोगों की इज्जत करो। 

जादूगर ने कहा:- आगे से वह ऐसा ही करेगा। इसके बाद वह चला गया। 

राजा ने तेनालीराम से कहा मैंने तुमसे बड़ा जादूगर नहीं देखा, जिसने बत्तमीज और घमंडी जादूगर को कुछ देर में ही ठीक कर दिया। इसके बाद सब दरबारी हँसने लगे।

the greatest magician

The game of magician has always been a means of entertainment for the people. Once upon a time, a magician came to the court of King Krishna Deva Raya. He said that he has shown magic in many places in the country and abroad and he has got many rewards. I want to show a game of magic here in the court also. At the behest of the king, he started showing his magic.

He said that this magic is a kind of sleight of hand. If someone's eyesight is sharp, he can even catch it. All of you watch this magic carefully. He put a red cloth over a pigeon and turned it into an egg. He said, did someone see how I turned a pigeon into an egg? Anyone know of my sleight of hand How did I do it? Are the eyes of all the people here in the court weak? After this he put a red cloth over that egg and turned it into a gold coin. Even after this, he asked all the people, did anyone see the cleanliness of my hands.

He told Tenaliram that you are very intelligent, but intelligence will not work in this magic game. You have to catch it with a sharp eye. Then the magician said that watch carefully how do I make this gold coin disappear in the air? After this he threw the gold coin up and it disappeared. Due to which all the people of the court were astonished. He told Tenaliram that your eyes are also weak. You too could not catch my magic.

After this he started telling all the people present in the court that there is such a person who can show something like me. Seeing his pride, Tenaliram said that what I can do with closed eyes, you cannot do it even with open eyes.

After listening to Tenaliram, the magician said, what you will do with closed eyes, if I could not do it even with open eyes, then I will become your slave. If I do that then you will have to be my slave. When this was settled, a soldier brought red chili powder at the behest of Tenaliram.

Tenali closed her eyes and poured red chili powder over her eyes. After that he opened his eyes. Seeing this, the magician thought, now I am stuck. If I put chili powder in my eyes, my eyes will burst. If I do not do this then I will have to become a slave of Tenaliram. He apologized to Tenaliram that you are very intelligent, I accept your slavery.

Tenaliram said: - I do not want to make you a slave. I want you to leave your arrogance and rudeness and show the game of magic and respect all the people.

The magician said: - From now on he will do the same thing. After that he left.

The king said to Tenaliram, I have not seen a greater magician than you, who cured the arrogant and arrogant magician in a short time. After this all the courtiers started laughing.

तेनालीराम - कुत्ते की दुम सीधी || Tenali Raman - Kutte ki Dum Sidhi ||

 कुत्ते की दुम सीधी 

एक दिन राजा कृष्णदेव राय के दरबार में अनेक मुद्दों पर चर्चा हो रही थी। धीरे धीरे बात आगे बढ़ती रही और इस बात पर गरमा-गरम बहस शुरू हो गई कि मनुष्य का स्वभाव बदला जा सकता है या नहीं। कुछ का कहना था कि मनुष्य का स्वभाव बदला जा सकता है। कुछ का विचार था कि ऐसा नहीं हो सकता, जैसे कुत्ते की दुम कभी सीधी नहीं हो सकती। 

फिर क्या था, राजा को एक विनोद सूझा। उन्होंने कहा कि अगर कुत्ते की दुम सीधी की जा सकती है, तो मनुष्य का स्वभाव भी बदला जा सकता है, नहीं तो नहीं बदला जा सकता। राजा ने फिर विनोद को आगे बढ़ाने की सोची, बोले, ‘ठीक है, आप लोग यह प्रयत्न करके देखिए। 

राजा ने दस चुने हुए व्यक्तियों  को कुत्ते का एक-एक पिल्ला दिलवाया और छह मास के लिए हर मास दस स्वर्ण मुद्राएं देना निश्चित किया। इन सभी लोगों को कुत्तों की दुम सीधी करने का प्रयत्न करना था। इन व्यक्तियों में एक तेनालीराम भी थे। शेष नौ लोगों ने इन छह महीनों में पिल्लों की दुम सीधी करने की बड़ी कोशिशें कीं।एक ने पिल्ले की पूंछ के छोर को भारी वजन से दबा दिया ताकि इससे दुम सीधी हो जाए। 

दूसरे ने पिल्ले की दुम को पीतल की एक सीधी नली में डाले रखा। तीसरे ने अपने पिल्ले की पूछ सीधी करने के लिए हर रोज पूंछ की मालिश करवाई।छठे सज्जन कहीं से किसी तांत्रिक को पकड़ लाए, जो कई तरह से उटपटांग वाक्य बोलकर और मंत्र पढ़कर इस काम को करने के प्रयत्न में जुटा रहा। 

सातवें सज्जन ने अपने पिल्ले की शल्य चिकित्सा यानी ऑपरेशन करवाया। आठवां व्यक्ति पिल्ले को सामने बिठाकर छह मास तक प्रतिदिन उसे भाषण देता रहा कि पूंछ सीधी रखो भाई, सीधी रखो।नौवां व्यक्ति पिल्ले को मिठाइयां खिलाता रहा कि शायद इससे यह मान जाए और अपनी पूंछ सीधी कर ले। 

पर तेनालीराम पिल्ले को इतना ही खिलाता जितने से वह जीवित रहे। उसकी पूंछ भी बेजान-सी लटक गई, जो देखने में सीधी ही जान पड़ती थी।छह मास बीत जाने पर राजा ने दसों पिल्लों को दरबार में उपस्थित करने का आदेश दिया। नौ व्यक्तियों ने हट्टे-कट्टे और स्वस्थ पिल्ले पेश किए। 

जब पहले पिल्ले की पूंछ से वजन हटाया गया तो वह एकदम टेढ़ी होकर ऊपर उठ गई। दूसरी की दुम जब नली में से निकाली गई वह भी उसी समय टेढ़ी हो गई। शेष सातों पिल्लों की पूंछे भी टेढ़ी ही थीं। तेनालीराम ने अपने अधमरा-सा पिल्ला राजा के सामने कर दिया। 

उसके सारे अंग ढलक रहे थे।तेनालीराम बोला, ‘महाराज, मैंने कुत्ते की दुम सीधी कर दी है।”दुष्ट कहीं के!’ राजा ने कहा, ‘बेचारे निरीह पशु पर तुम्हें दया भी नहीं आई? तुमने तो इसे भूखा ही मार डाला। इसमें तो पूंछ हिलाने जितनी शक्ति भी नहीं है। 

महाराज, अगर आपने कहा होता कि इसे अच्छी तरह खिलायापिलाया जाए तो मैं कोई कसर नहीं छोड़ता, पर आपका आदेश तो इसकी पूंछ को स्वभाव के विरुद्ध सीधा करने का था, जो इसे भूखा रखने से ही पूरा हो सकता था। बिलकुल ऐसे ही मनुष्य का स्वभाव भी असल में बदलता नहीं है।हां, आप  उसे काल-कोठरी में बंद करके, उसे भूखा रखकर उसका स्वभाव मुर्दा बना सकते हैं।

Kutte ki Dum Sidhi

One day many issues were being discussed in the court of King Krishna Deva Raya. Slowly the matter kept on moving forward and a heated debate started on whether the nature of man can be changed or not. Some said that human nature can be changed. Some thought that this could not happen, as a dog's tail could never be straight.

What was it then, the king got a sense of humor. He said that if the tail of a dog can be straightened, then the nature of man can also be changed, otherwise it cannot be changed. The king again thought of taking Vinod forward, said, 'Okay, you guys try this.

The king got ten selected persons a puppy of a dog and decided to give ten gold coins every month for six months. All these people had to try to straighten the tail of the dogs. Tenaliram was also one of these persons. The remaining nine made great efforts to straighten the tails of the puppies during these six months. One pressed the tail end of the puppy with a heavy weight so that it straightened the tail.

The other put the tail of the puppy in a straight brass tube. The third got the tail massaged every day to straighten the tail of his puppy. The sixth gentleman got hold of a tantrik from somewhere, who was trying to do this work by uttering ludicrous sentences and reciting mantras in various ways.

The seventh gentleman got his puppy surgically operated. The eighth person kept the puppy in front and kept giving speech to him daily for six months that keep the tail straight, brother, keep it straight. The ninth person kept feeding sweets to the puppy so that maybe it would agree and straighten his tail.

But Tenaliram would feed the puppy only as long as he lived. His tail also hanged lifeless, which seemed to be straight in sight. After six months, the king ordered the ten puppies to be present in the court. Nine individuals produced stocky and healthy pups.

When the weight was removed from the first puppy's tail, it rose upright and crooked. When the tail of the other was removed from the tube, it also got crooked at the same time. The tails of the remaining seven puppies were also crooked. Tenaliram presented his half-dead puppy in front of the king.

All his limbs were drooping. Tenaliram said, 'Sir, I have straightened the dog's tail. You killed it by starvation. It doesn't even have the power to wag its tail.

Sir, if you had said that it should be fed well, I would leave no stone unturned, but your order was to straighten its tail against nature, which could be accomplished only by starving it. Just like this, the nature of a human being does not actually change. Yes, you can make him dead by keeping him in a dungeon, starving him.

तेनालीराम - उधार का बोझ || Tenali Raman - Udhar ka Bojh ||

उधार का बोझ

एक समय की बात है जब किसी वित्तीय समस्या में फंसकर तेनालीराम ने राजा कृष्णदेव राय से कुछ रुपए उधार लिए थे। समय बीतता गया और पैसे वापस करने का समय भी निकट आ गया, परंतु तेनालीराम के पास पैसे वापस लौटाने का कोई प्रबंध नहीं हो पाया था, तो उन्होंने उधार चुकाने से बचने के लिए एक योजना बनाई। 

एक दिन राजा को तेनालीराम की पत्नी की ओर से एक पत्र मिला। उस पत्र में लिखा था कि तेनालीराम बहुत बीमार हैं। तेनालीराम कई दिनों से दरबार में भी नहीं आ रहे थे। इसलिए राजा ने सोचा कि स्वयं जाकर तेनालीराम से मिला जाए। साथ ही राजा को भी संदेह हुआ कि कहीं उधार से बचने के लिय यह तेनालीराम की कोई योजना तो नहीं है। राजा तेनालीराम के घर पहुंचे। 

वहां तेनालीराम कम्बल ओढ़कर पलंग पर लेटे हुए थे। उनकी ऐसी अवस्था देखकर राजा ने उसकी पत्नी से कारण पूछा। 

तब वह बोली -"महाराज! इनके दिल पर आपके दिए हुए उधार का बोझ है। यही चिंता इन्हें अंदर ही अंदर खाए जा रही है और शायद इसी कारण ये बीमार हो गए।" 

राजा ने तेनालीराम को सांत्वना दी और कहा - "तेनाली! तुम परेशान मत हो। तुम मेरा उधार चुकाने के लिए बाध्य नहीं हो। चिंता छोड़ो और शीघ्र स्वस्थ हो जाओ।" 

यह सुन तेनालीराम हंसते हुए पलंग पर उठ कर बैठ गए और बोले - "महाराज! धन्यवाद।" 

यह देख महाराज क्रोधित हो गए। यह क्या है, तेनाली? इसका मतलब तुम बीमार नहीं थे। मुझसे झूठ बोलने का तुम्हारा साहस कैसे हुआ?’ राजा ने क्रोध में कहा। 

तेनालीराम - "नहीं-नहीं, महाराज! मैंने आपसे झूठ नहीं बोला। मैं उधार के बोझ से बीमार था। आपने जैसे ही मुझे उधार से मुक्त किया, तभी से मेरी सारी चिंता खत्म हो गई और मेरे ऊपर से उधार का बोझ हट गया। इस बोझ के हटते ही मेरी बीमारी भी जाती रही और मैं अपने को स्वस्थ महसूस करने लगा। अब आपके आदेशानुसार मैं स्वतंत्र, स्वस्थ व प्रसन्न हूं।" 

हमेशा की तरह राजा के पास कहने के लिए कुछ न था , वे तेनाली की योजना पर मुस्करा पड़े और तेनालीराम को उनकी गुस्ताखी के लिए माफ कर दिया।

English Translate

Udhar ka Bojh (debt burden)

Once upon a time, Tenaliram had borrowed some money from King Krishnadeva Raya after getting stuck in some financial problem. Time passed and the time to return the money also drew near, but there was no arrangement to return the money to Tenaliram, so he made a plan to avoid repaying the loan.

One day the king received a letter from Tenaliram's wife. It was written in that letter that Tenaliram is very ill. Tenaliram was not even coming to the court for many days. So the king thought that he himself should go and meet Tenaliram. At the same time, the king also doubted whether this was any plan of Tenaliram to avoid borrowing. The king reached Tenaliram's house.

There Tenaliram was lying on the bed wearing a blanket. Seeing his condition, the king asked his wife the reason.

Then she said - "Your Majesty! Their heart is burdened by your loan. This worry is eating them inside and maybe that's why they got sick."

The king consoled Tenalirama and said - "Tenali! Don't you worry. You are not obliged to repay my loan. Quit worrying and get well soon."

Hearing this, Tenaliram sat down on the bed laughing and said - "Your Majesty! Thank you."

Seeing this the Maharaj became angry. What is this, Tenali? It didn't mean you weren't sick. How dare you lie to me?' The king said in anger.

Tenaliram - "No-no, Maharaj! I didn't lie to you. I was sick with the burden of borrowing. As soon as you freed me from the debt, from then on all my worries ended and the burden of debt was removed from me. As soon as this burden was removed, my illness also kept going and I started feeling healthy. Now I am free, healthy and happy according to your orders.

As usual the king had nothing to say, he smiled at Tenali's plan and forgave Tenalirama for his insolence.

तेनालीराम - जादुई कुएं || Tenali Raman - Jadui kuwen ||

जादुई कुएं

गर्मियों का मौसम शुरू होने वाला था। राजा कृष्णदेव राय ने अपने मंत्री को राज्य में अनेक कुएं बनाने का आदेश दिया। राजा चाहते थे कि गर्मी शुरू होने से पूर्व ही कुएं खुदकर तैयार हो जाएं ताकि लोगों को गर्मियों में पानी की समस्या ना हो।

मंत्री ने इस कार्य के लिए शाही कोष से बहुत-सा धन लिया। शीघ्र ही राजा के आदेशानुसार नगर में अनेक कुएं खुदवाए गए। कार्य पूरा होने पर एक दिन राजा ने नगर भ्रमण किया और कुछ कुओं का स्वयं निरीक्षण किया।       

अपने आदेश को पूरा होते देख वे संतुष्ट हो गए। गर्मियों में एक दिन नगर के बाहर से कुछ गांव वाले तेनालीराम के पास पहुंचे, वे सभी मंत्री के विरुद्ध शिकायत लेकर आए थे। तेनालीराम ने उनकी शिकायत सुनी और उन्हें न्याय दिलाने का रास्ता बताया। 

तेनालीराम अगले दिन राजा से मिले और बोले - "महाराज! मुझे विजयनगर में कुछ चोरों के होने की सूचना मिली है। वे हमारे कुएं चुरा रहे हैं। 

इस पर राजा बोले - "क्या बात करते हो, तेनाली! कोई चोर कुएं को कैसे चुरा सकता है?" 

तेनालीराम बोले - "महाराज! यह बात आश्चर्यजनक जरूर है, परंतु सच है। वे चोर अब तक कई कुएं चुरा चुके हैं। तेनालीराम ने बहुत ही भोलेपन से कहा।" 

तेनालीराम की बात को सुनकर दरबार में उपस्थित सभी दरबारी हंसने लगे। महाराज ने कहा -"तेनालीराम! तुम्हारी तबीयत तो ठीक है। आज कैसी बहकी-बहकी बातें कर रहे हो? तुम्हारी बातों पर कोई भी व्यक्ति विश्वास नहीं कर सकता।"

तेनालीराम बोले - "महाराज! मैं जानता था कि आप मेरी बात पर विश्वास नहीं करंगे, इसलिए मैं कुछ गांव वालों को साथ - साथ लाया हूं। वे सभी बाहर खड़े हैं। यदि आपको मुझ पर विश्वास नहीं है, तो आप उन्हें दरबार में बुलाकर पूछ लीजिए। वे आपको सारी बात विस्तारपूर्वक बता दंगे।" 

राजा ने बाहर खड़े गांव वालों को दरबार में बुलवाया। एक गांव वाला बोला - "महाराज! मंत्री द्वारा बनाए गए सभी कुएं समाप्त हो गए हैं, आप स्वयं देख सकते हैं।" 

राजा ने उनकी बात मान ली और मंत्री, तेनालीराम, कुछ दरबारियों तथा गांव वालों के साथ कुओं का निरीक्षण करने के लिए चल दिए। पूरे नगर का निरीक्षण करने के पश्चात उन्होंने पाया कि राजधानी के आस-पास के अन्य स्थानों तथा गांवों में कोई कुआं नहीं है।

राजा को यह पता लगते देख मंत्री घबरा गया। वास्तव में उसने कुछ कुओं को ही बनाने का आदेश दिया था। बचा हुआ धन उसने अपनी सुख-सुविधाओं पर व्यय कर दिया। अब तक राजा भी तेनालीराम की बात का अर्थ समझ चुके थे। वे मंत्री पर क्रोधित होने लगे, तभी तेनालीराम बीच में बोल पड़े - महाराज! इसमें इनका कोई दोष नहीं है। वास्तव में वे जादुई कुएं थे, जो बनने के कुछ दिन बाद ही हवा में समाप्त हो गए। अपनी बात समाप्त कर तेनालीराम मंत्री की ओर देखने लगे। 

मंत्री ने अपना सिर शर्म से झुका लिया। राजा ने मंत्री को बहुत डांटा तथा उसे सौ और कुएं बनवाने का आदेश दिया। इस कार्य की सारी जिम्मेदारी तेनालीराम को सौंपी गई।

Jadui kuwen (magic well)

The summer season was about to start. King Krishnadeva Raya ordered his minister to build several wells in the state. The king wanted the wells to be ready by themselves before the onset of summer so that people do not face the problem of water in summer.

The minister took a lot of money from the royal treasury for this work. Soon many wells were dug in the city as per the orders of the king. After the completion of the work, one day the king visited the city and inspected some wells himself.

He was satisfied to see his order being fulfilled. One day in the summer, some villagers from outside the city approached Tenaliram, all of them with complaints against the minister. Tenaliram listened to his complaint and told him the way to get justice.

Tenaliram met the king the next day and said - "Maharaj! I have received information about the presence of some thieves in Vijayanagara. They are stealing our wells.

To this the king said - "What are you talking about, Tenali! How can a thief steal a well?"

Tenaliram said - "Your Majesty! This thing is definitely surprising, but it is true. Those thieves have stolen many wells so far. Tenaliram said very naively."

Hearing Tenaliram's words, all the courtiers present in the court started laughing. Maharaj said - "Tenaliram! You are fine. What kind of deceitful talk are you talking about today? No one can believe your words."

Tenaliram said - "Maharaj! I knew that you would not believe me, so I have brought some villagers together. They are all standing outside. If you do not believe in me, you can invite them to the court." Ask. They will tell you everything in detail."

The king called the villagers standing outside to the court. A villager said - "Maharaj! All the wells made by the minister are exhausted, you can see for yourself."

The king agreed to them and the minister, Tenaliram, accompanied by some courtiers and villagers went to inspect the wells. After inspecting the whole city, he found that there is no well in other places and villages around the capital.

Seeing the king knowing this, the minister was terrified. In fact, he had ordered only a few wells to be built. He spent the remaining money on his comforts. By now even the king had understood the meaning of Tenaliram's words. He started getting angry at the minister, when Tenaliram interrupted and said - Maharaj! It's not their fault in this. In fact they were magic wells, which ended up in the air only a few days after they were built. Ending his talk, Tenaliram started looking at the minister.

The minister bowed his head in shame. The king scolded the minister a lot and ordered him to build a hundred more wells. All the responsibility of this work was entrusted to Tenaliram.

तेनालीराम - खूंखार घोड़ा और तेनालीराम || Tenali Raman - Khunkhar Ghoda Aur Tenaliram ||

खूंखार घोड़ा 

राजा कृष्णदेव राय के शासन काल में एक दिन एक अरबी व्यापारी बहुत सारे घोड़े लेकर कृष्णदेव राय के दरबार में आते हैं और महाराजा से सिफारिश करते हैं कि मुझे यह सारे घोड़े बेचने हैं कृपा करके आप इन घोड़ों को खरीद लें। राजा ने उस अरबी व्यापारी से पूछा इन घोड़ा में ऐसा क्या खास है, जिसकी वजह से हम इन्हें खरीदें। 

वह अरबी व्यापारी वाक पटुता में माहिर था, उसने राजा के सामने अपने घोड़ों की इतनी तारीफ की कि राजा उन सारे घोड़ों को खरीदने के लिए तैयार हो गए। 

महाराजा उस अरबी व्यापारी से उसके सारे घोड़े खरीद लिए। अरबी व्यापारी बहुत खुश हुए और सारे घोड़ों का मोल लेकर दरबार से चले गए। व्यापारी के जाते ही दरबारियों ने राजा से प्रश्न किया कि इन घोड़ों को आप कहां रखेंगे? हमारे पास उन सारे घोड़ों को रखने के लिए इतनी जगह नहीं है। इन घोड़ों को रखने के लिए हमें ‌एक बड़े घुड़साल की आवश्यकता होगी। राजा के सामने एक बहुत बड़ी मुश्किल खड़ी हो गई। 

इस समस्या से निपटने के लिए राजा ने अपने दरबार में मंत्रियों की सभा रखी। अगले दिन सभी मंत्री राजा के कहने पर राज्य की सभा पर इकट्ठे हो गए। राजा ने अपनी समस्या मंत्रियों के सामने रखी और मंत्रियों से इस समस्या का हल ढूंढने के लिए कहा गया। सभी मंत्रियों ने उचित से उचित योजना बनाकर राजा के सामने पेश किया। 

अगले दिन राजा ने अपनी प्रजा को इकट्ठा होने के लिए आदेश दे दिया। सभी प्रजा राजा के कहने पर एक जगह इकट्ठी हो गई। राजा वहां पहुंचकर अपनी सारी प्रजा से कहते हैं कि - "मैंने आप सभी को एक जरूरी काम सौंपने के लिए बुलाया है। हमने बहुत सारे अरबी नस्ल के घोड़े खरीदे हैं और यह सभी घोड़े बेशकीमती, लाजवाब और समझदार हैं। लेकिन अफसोस इस बात है कि इन सभी घोड़ों को रखने के लिए पर्याप्त जगह राजमहल में नहीं है। इसके लिए एक बहुत बड़े घुड़साल की आवश्यकता है, जिसको तैयार होने में कम से कम तीन महीने लग जायेंगे। इसीलिए तीन महीने तक आप सभी को एक-एक घोड़ा दिया जाएगा, जिसकी देखभाल आपको करनी होगी। इसके लिए आप सभी को हर महीने एक सोने का सिक्का भी दिया जाएगा।" 

सभी प्रजा का चेहरा उतर गया। भला एक सोने के सिक्के से क्या होता है? इससे तो एक दिन का चारा पानी भी नहीं आएगा। अब राजा का आदेश था तो सबको मानना पड़ा। राजा ने सभी को एक-एक घोड़ा दे दिया और सभी एक एक घोड़ा लेकर अपनी अपनी घर की तरफ चले गए। 

प्रजा के साथ साथ तेनालीरमन को भी एक घोड़ा दिया गया। तेनालीरमन घोड़े को घर लेजाकर घर के पीछे घास फूस की छोटी-सी घुड़साल बना देते हैं और उसके साथ ही तेनालीरमन घोड़े को थोड़ा-सा चारा भी डाल देते हैं। तेनालीरमन हमेशा घोड़े को थोड़ा थोड़ा सा ही चारा और पानी देते रहे।                

बाकी प्रजा घोड़े की अच्छी तरीके से सेवा करती रही, क्योंकि प्रजा राजा के क्रोध से डरती थी कि कहीं घोड़ा मर गया तो राजा उन्हें मृत्युदंड ना दे दे। इसीलिए प्रजा ने अपनी आधी से अधिक कमाई घोड़े पर लगा दी। प्रजा खुद भूखी सोती थी लेकिन घोड़े को भरपेट चारा पानी देकर सोती थी। 

दो महीने बीत गए थे। तेनालीरमन का घोड़ा बिल्कुल सूख गया। तेनालीराम का घोड़ा चिड़चिड़ा होने लगा। कोई भी उसके सामने आता तो वह अपने मुंह से सामने वाले को घात पहुंचाने की कोशिश करता। तेनालीराम घुड़साल की खिड़की से ही उस घोड़े की देखभाल करते थे। वहीं से वह थोड़ा बहुत चारा पानी डाल देते थे।      तीन महीने बीत गए। 

महाराजा ने सभी को अपने घोड़े के साथ एकत्रित होने के लिए आदेश दे दिए। सभी अपने अपने घोड़े लेकर राजमहल के आगे पहुंच गए। लेकिन तेनालीराम अपना घोड़ा अपने साथ में नहीं लेकर आए। तेनालीराम से इसका कारण पूछा गया तो तेनालीराम बोले कि महाराज घोड़ा काफी खूंखार और बिगडैल है। वह किसी को अपने पास नहीं आने देता। 

महाराज आप घोड़े को लाने की बात कर रहे हैं, मैं तो घुड़साल में जाने की भी हिम्मत नहीं कर सकता, लाने की दूर की बात है। मैं खुद घोड़े की घुड़साल की खिड़की से उसको चारा पानी देता हूं। तभी राजगुरु महाराज से बोले कि महाराज हमें तेनालीराम की बातों का विश्वास नहीं करना चाहिए। हमें खुद वहां जाकर देखना चाहिए। सभी लोग तेनालीराम के घर पर जाते हैं और छोटी सी घुड़साल को राजगुरु देखते हैं।           

राजगुरु तेनालीराम से कहते है मूर्ख तेनाली यह क्या घुड़साल बनाई है तूने। इस छोटी सी कुटिया को तुमने घुड़साल नाम दिया है, बड़े शर्म की बात है। राजगुरु की बात पर तेनालीराम बोले की आप बहुत विद्वान हैं, इसीलिए मुझसे ज्यादा आपको पता है। लेकिन घोड़ा खूंखार हो चुका है, इसलिए आप अंदर मत जाइएगा। घुड़साल में मैंने एक खिड़की बनाई है, जहां से मैं घोड़े की देखरेख करता हूं। 

आप भी वही से झांक कर देख लीजिए। तेनालीराम के कहने पर राजगुरु घोड़े को देखने के लिए खिड़की तक जाते हैं। खिड़की से झांकते ही वह घोड़ा राजगुरु की दाढ़ी अपने मुंह से पकड़ लिया। राजगुरु दर्द से चीखने लगे। राजगुरु व अन्य सभी साथियों ने दाढ़ी छुड़वाने का बहुत प्रयास किया लेकिन घोड़े ने दाढ़ी नहीं छोड़ी। 

तभी एक दरबारी तलवार निकाला और एक ही झटके में राजगुरु की दाढ़ी काट दिया। महाराजा के आदेश से दस सेवक मिलकर जैसे-तैसे घोड़े को दरबार तक लेकर गए। घोड़े को देखते ही महाराजा तेनालीराम से पूछते हैं कि घोड़ा इतना दुबला पतला क्यों है? 

तेनालीराम बोले - "मैंने घोड़े को कम से कम चारा और पानी दिया है। जैसे प्रजा थोड़े से ही अपना गुजारा कर लेती है। इस वजह से घोड़ा इतना दुबला पतला है। तेनालीराम ने कहा कि प्रजा आपका सम्मान करती है, इसलिए वह आपकी कोई बात नहीं टाल सकती। सारी प्रजा एक सोने के सिक्के से ही घोड़े को पालने के लिए मान गई। 

सारी प्रजा अपनी आधी कमाई उस घोड़े पर लगा दी, जो आपने उन्हें दिया था। घोड़ों को तो भर पेट भोजन मिलता था, लेकिन आधी जनता को बिना खाए पिए ही सोना पड़ता था। इससे आपके घोड़े तो हष्ट पुष्ट हो गए लेकिन आपकी सारी प्रजा दुर्बल हो गई। 

आप का कर्म है कि आप प्रजा के हित के लिए काम करें ना कि उन पर अधिक से अधिक बोझ डालें। तेनालीराम अपने सारे वाक्यांशों पर माफी मांगते हुए पीछे हट गए। 

महाराजा को तेनालीराम की सारी बातें समझ में आ गई। महाराज ने अपनी गलती पर क्षमा मांगते हुए पूरी प्रजा में महीने भर का राशन मुफ्त में बंटवाया।

Khunkhar Ghoda (the dreaded horse)

One day during the reign of King Krishnadeva Raya an Arabian merchant comes to Krishnadev Raya's court with a lot of horses and recommends to the Maharaja that I have to sell all these horses, please buy these horses. The king asked that Arabian merchant, what is so special about these horses, because of which we should buy them.

That Arabic merchant was a master of speech, he praised his horses in front of the king so much that the king agreed to buy all those horses.

The Maharaja bought all his horses from that Arabian merchant. The Arabian merchants were very happy and left the court after buying all the horses. As soon as the merchant left, the courtiers asked the king that where will you keep these horses? We don't have enough space to keep all those horses. To keep these horses we will need a big stall. A great difficulty arose in front of the king.

To deal with this problem, the king kept a meeting of ministers in his court. The next day all the ministers gathered at the state assembly at the behest of the king. The king put his problem in front of the ministers and the ministers were asked to find a solution to this problem. All the ministers made a proper plan and presented it to the king.

The next day the king ordered his subjects to gather. All the subjects gathered at one place at the behest of the king. The king reaches there and says to all his subjects that - "I have called all of you to entrust an important task. We have bought many horses of Arabian breed and all these horses are valuable, wonderful and intelligent. But the regret is this. That there is not enough space in the palace to keep all these horses. For this a very big stall is needed, which will take at least three months to prepare. That's why for three months each of you will be given one horse. , which you will have to take care of. For this you all will also be given a gold coin every month.

The faces of all the people fell. What's wrong with a gold coin? Due to this, even a day's fodder and water will not come. Now there was the order of the king, so everyone had to obey. The king gave each horse a horse and they all went towards their home with one horse.

Along with the subjects, Tenaliraman was also given a horse. Tenaliraman takes the horse home and makes a small hay of hay behind the house and with it Tenaliraman also puts some fodder for the horse. Tenaliraman always gave little fodder and water to the horse.

The rest of the subjects continued to serve the horse well, because the subjects were afraid of the king's anger that if the horse died, the king should not give them the death penalty. That is why the subjects put more than half their earnings on the horse. The subjects themselves slept hungry but slept after giving enough fodder and water to the horse.

Two months had passed. Tenaliraman's horse dried up completely. Tenaliram's horse started getting irritable. If anyone came in front of him, he would try to ambush the person in front of him with his mouth. Tenaliram used to take care of that horse from the window of the stall. From there he used to pour some fodder water. Three months passed.

The Maharaja ordered everyone to assemble with his horse. Everyone took their horses and reached in front of the palace. But Tenaliram did not bring his horse with him. When Tenaliram was asked the reason for this, Tenaliram said that Maharaj's horse is very dangerous and bad-tempered. He does not allow anyone to come near him.

Sir, you are talking about bringing a horse, I can't even dare to go to the horse, it is a distant thing to bring. I myself give him fodder and water from the window of the horse's stud. Then Rajguru said to Maharaj that Maharaj should not believe the words of Tenaliram. We should go there and see for ourselves. Everyone goes to Tenaliram's house and sees Rajguru, a small horse.

Rajguru says to Tenali Ram, what a fool Tenali, what a stud have you made. It is a matter of great shame that you have given this small hut the name Ghursal. On Rajguru's talk, Tenaliram said that you are very learned, that is why you know more than me. But the horse is dreaded, so don't go inside. In the stall I have made a window, from where I look after the horse.

Take a look from the same side and see. At the behest of Tenaliram, Rajguru goes to the window to see the horse. As soon as he peeped through the window, the horse grabbed Rajguru's beard from his mouth. Rajguru started screaming in pain. Rajguru and all the other companions tried hard to get rid of the beard but the horse did not give up the beard.

Then a courtier took out the sword and in one stroke cut off the beard of Rajguru. On the orders of the Maharaja, ten servants together took the horse to the court. On seeing the horse, Maharaja asks Tenaliram why the horse is so lean and thin.

Tenaliram said - "I have given at least fodder and water to the horse. Just like the people make a little living for themselves. Because of this the horse is so thin. Tenaliram said that the people respect you, that's why they don't want any of yours." The matter cannot be avoided.All the people agreed to keep the horse with only one gold coin.

All the people put half their earnings on the horse that you gave them. The horses were fed enough food, but half the population had to sleep without eating and drinking. This made your horses strong, but your All the people became weak.

It is your duty to work for the benefit of the people and not put more and more burden on them. Tenaliram backed away apologizing for all his words.

The Maharaja understood everything about Tenaliram. The Maharaj, apologizing for his mistake, distributed free ration for a month among the entire subjects.

तेनालीराम - रसगुल्ले की जड़ || Tenali Raman - Rasgulle Ki Jad ||

 रसगुल्ले की जड़

एक समय की बात है जब विजय नगर में एक शेख व्यापारी व्यापार के लिए आता है। इस व्यापारी के स्वागत के लिए महाराजा ने महल के सभी कर्मचारियों को आदेश दिया और कहा -  "व्यापारी की आवभगत में कोई कमी नहीं रहनी चाहिए। उसके रहने और खाने-पीने सारा इंतजाम अच्छे से हो जाना चाहिए।" 

महाराज ने रसोइए को खासकर कहा कि - "व्यापारी के भोजन के लिए प्रत्येक समय अलग-अलग पकवान और मिठाइयां बननी चाहिए।"     

महाराज का आदेश पाकर व्यापारी के लिए महल में सारी व्यवस्थाएं कर दी गई और रसोईया व्यापारी के लिए प्रत्येक समय अलग-अलग पकवान बनाकर खिलाता रहा। 

एक दोपहर रसोइए ने व्यापारी के लिए रसगुल्ले बनाए। व्यापारी रसगुल्ले खा कर बहुत प्रसन्न हुआ क्योंकि उसे रसगुल्ले बहुत पसंद आए। व्यापारी ने रसोइए को बुलाया और पूछा - "इस रसगुल्ले की जड़ क्या है?" 

रसोईया व्यापारी की बात सुनकर आश्चर्यचकित हो गया कि भला रसगुल्ले की जड़ क्या हो सकती है? धीरे-धीरे यह बात पूरे महल में फैल गई। किंतु किसी के पास भी व्यापारी के प्रश्न का कोई जवाब नहीं था। सेवकों ने व्यापारी का प्रश्न महाराज तक पहुंचाया। महाराज भी व्यापारी का प्रश्न सुनकर आश्चर्य में पड़ गए। भला रसगुल्ले की जड़ क्या हो सकती है? कुछ समय सोच विचार करने के पश्चात महाराज ने अपने सबसे चतुर मंत्री तेनालीरामन को बुलवाया और तेनालीरमन को व्यापारी के इस प्रश्न का उत्तर ढूंढने के लिए कहा - "रसगुल्ले की जड़ क्या है?" 

तेनालीरमन ने सवाल का जवाब देने के लिए महाराज से एक छुरी, एक कटोरा और एक दिन का समय मांगा। अगले दिन तेनालीरमन उस कटोरे को एक कपड़े से ढककर राज दरबार में व्यापारी के सामने ले आए और व्यापारी से कहा कि - "आप इस कपड़े को हटाइए और आपको आपके प्रश्न का जवाब मिल जाएगा।"        

व्यापारी समेत संपूर्ण दरबार यह जानने को उत्सुक था कि रसगुल्ले की जड़ क्या होती है? जैसे ही व्यापारी ने कटोरे के ऊपर से कपड़ा हटाया तो व्यापारी समेत पूरा दरबार आश्चर्यचकित हो गया क्योंकि उस कटोरे में गन्ने के चार पांच छोटे-छोटे टुकड़े थे। तभी तेनालीरामा ने सबको समझाया कि प्रत्येक मिठाई शक्कर से बनती है और शक्कर गन्ने से बनती है। अतः रसगुल्ले की जड़ गन्ना है। 

संपूर्ण दरबार और महाराजा कृष्णदेव राय तेनालीरामा की बात सुनकर हंस पड़े और तेनालीरामा की चतुराई की सराहना की।

English Translate

Rasgulle Ki Jad

Once upon a time a sheikh merchant came to Vijay Nagar for business. To welcome this merchant, the Maharaja ordered all the employees of the palace and said - "There should be no shortage in the hospitality of the merchant. All arrangements for his accommodation and food should be made well."

The chef specially told the cook that - "At every time different dishes and sweets should be prepared for the food of the merchant."

After getting the orders of the Maharaj, all the arrangements were made for the merchant in the palace and the cook kept on preparing and feeding different dishes for the merchant every time.

One afternoon the cook made rasgullas for the merchant. The merchant was very happy after eating the rasgullas because he liked the rasgullas very much. The merchant called the cook and asked - "What is the root of this rasgulla?"

The cook was surprised to hear the merchant that what could be the root of the rasgulla? Gradually this word spread throughout the palace. But no one had any answer to the merchant's question. The servants brought the merchant's question to the Maharaj. Maharaj was also surprised to hear the merchant's question. What could be the root of Rasgulla? After thinking for some time, Maharaj called his smartest minister Tenaliraman and asked Tenaliraman to find the answer to this question of the merchant - "What is the root of Rasgulla?"

Tenaliraman asked Maharaj for a knife, a bowl and a day's time to answer the question. The next day, Tenaliraman covered the bowl with a cloth and brought it to the merchant in the royal court and told the merchant - "You remove this cloth and you will get the answer to your question."

The entire court including the merchant was curious to know what is the root of Rasgulla? As soon as the merchant removed the cloth from the top of the bowl, the whole court including the merchant was astonished because there were four or five small pieces of sugarcane in that bowl. Then Tenalirama explained to everyone that every sweet is made from sugar and sugar is made from sugarcane. Hence the root of Rasgulla is sugarcane.

The entire court and Maharaja Krishnadeva Raya laughed hearing Tenalirama and praised Tenalirama's cleverness.

तेनालीराम: कुछ नहीं || Tenaliram: Kuch Nahi

कुछ नहीं

तेनालीराम की चतुर बुद्धि तथा राजा कृष्ण देव राय से उनका सानिध्य होने के कारण बहुत से लोग उनसे जलते थे। तेनालीराम से ईर्ष्या करने वालों में से एक रघु नाम का व्यक्ति था, जो फल का व्यापारी था। उसने एक बार तेनालीराम को षड्यंत्र में फंसाने की युक्ति बनाई। उसने तेनालीराम को फल खरीदने के लिए बुलाया। जब तेनालीराम ने फलों का मूल्य पूछा तो रघु मुस्कुराते हुए बोला - "आपके लिए तो इनका दाम ‘कुछ नहीं’ है।"

इसके बाद तेनालीराम ने कुछ फल खाए और बाकी थैले में भर आगे बढ़ने लगे। तभी रघु ने उन्हें रोका और कहा कि मेरे फल के दाम तो देते जाइये तेनाली जी। 

तेनालीराम रघु की बात से हैरान होते हुए बोले - "अभी तो तुमने कहा की फल का दाम ‘कुछ नहीं’ है। तो अब क्यों अपनी बात से पलट रहे हो।" 

तब रघु बोला - "मेरे फल मुफ्त में नहीं है। मैंने साफ-साफ बताया था की मेरे फलों का दाम ‘कुछ नहीं’ है। अब सीधी तरह मुझे ‘कुछ नहीं’ दे दो, अन्यथा मैं राजा कृष्ण देव राय के पास फरियाद ले कर जाऊंगा और तुम्हें कठोर दंड दिलाऊँगा।"

तेनालीराम बड़े सोंच में पड़ गए और सोचते-सोचते वहाँ से अपने घर चले गए।

उनके मन में एक ही सवाल चल रहा था कि इस पागल फल वाले के अजीब षड्यंत्र का तोड़ कैसे खोजूँ? इसे ‘कुछ नहीं’ कहाँ से लाकर दूँ?

अगले ही दिन फल वाला राजा कृष्णदेव राय के दरबार में आ गया और फरियाद करने लगा। वह बोला की तेनालीराम ने मेरे फलों का दाम ‘कुछ नहीं’ मुझे नहीं दिया है।

राजा कृष्ण देव राय ने तुरंत तेनालीराम को हाज़िर होने को कहा। तेनालीराम के आते ही उनसे सफाई मांगी गई। तेनालीराम पहले से ही इसके लिए तैयार थे। उन्होंने एक रत्न-जड़ित संदूक लाकर रघु फल वाले के सामने रख दिया और कहा ये लो तुम्हारे फलों का दाम।

संदूक को देखते ही रघु की आँखें चौंधिया गयीं, उसने अनुमान लगाया कि इस संदूक में बहुमूल्य हीरे-जवाहरात होंगे। कुछ ही पलों में वह रातों-रात अमीर बनने के ख्वाब देखने लगा। और इन्हीं ख़यालों में खोये-खोये उसने संदूक खोला।

संदूक खोलते ही मानो उसका ख्वाब टूट गया, वह जोर से चिल्लाया, "ये क्या? इसमें तो ‘कुछ नहीं’ है।"

तब तेनालीराम बोले- "बिलकुल सही, अब तुम इसमें से अपना ‘कुछ नहीं’ निकाल लो और यहाँ से चलते बनो।"

वहां मौजूद महाराज और सभी दरबारी ठहाका लगा कर हंसने लगे। और रघु को अपना सा मुंह लेकर वापस जाना पड़ा। एक बार फिर तेनालीराम ने अपने बुद्धि चातुर्य से महाराज का मन जीत लिया।

English Translate

Kuch Nahi

Many people used to envy him because of Tenaliram's clever intellect and his association with King Krishna Deva Raya. One of the envious of Tenalirama was a man named Raghu, who was a merchant of fruits. He once hatched a plan to implicate Tenaliram in a conspiracy. He called Tenaliram to buy fruits. When Tenaliram asked the price of fruits, Raghu smiled and said - "For you they cost 'nothing'."

After this Tenaliram ate some fruits and started moving ahead in the rest of the bag. Then Raghu stopped them and said that Tenali ji should give the price of my fruits.

Tenaliram was surprised by Raghu's words and said - "Just now you said that the price of the fruit is 'nothing'. So why are you going back on your words now."

Then Raghu said - "My fruits are not for free. I had clearly told that the price of my fruits is 'nothing'. Now give me 'nothing' directly, otherwise I should approach King Krishna Deva Raya. I will do it and I will give you severe punishment."

Tenaliram fell into deep thought and went to his home from there thinking.

There was only one question going on in his mind that how to find the break of this strange conspiracy of this crazy fruit guy? From where should I get this 'nothing'?

The very next day the king of fruits came to the court of Krishna Deva Raya and started complaining. He said that Tenaliram has not given me 'nothing' for my fruits.

King Krishna Deva Raya immediately asked Tenaliram to attend. As soon as Tenaliram came, he was asked for clarification. Tenaliram was already prepared for it. He brought a gem-studded box and placed it in front of the Raghu fruit person and said, take the price of your fruits.

Raghu's eyes were dazzled on seeing the box, he guessed that this box would contain valuable diamonds and jewels. Within a few moments, he started dreaming of becoming rich overnight. And lost in these thoughts he opened the box.

As he opened the box, he cried out loudly, "What is this? There is nothing in it."

Then Tenaliram said - "All right, now take your 'nothing' out of it and keep walking from here."

The Maharaj and all the courtiers present there started laughing. And Raghu had to go back with his own mouth. Once again Tenaliram won the mind of Maharaj with his intellect.

तेनालीराम: सोने के आम || Tenaliram: Sone ke Aam

 सोने के आम 

ये उन दिनों की बात है जब राजा कृष्णदेव राय की माता बहुत वृद्ध हो गई थीं। एक बार वे बहुत बीमार पड़ गईं। उन्हें लगा कि अब वे शीघ्र ही मर जाएंगी। मरने की आशंका से उन्होंने राजा कृष्णदेव राय से अपनी इच्छा प्रकट की। उन्हें आम बहुत पसंद थे, इसलिए जीवन के अंतिम दिनों में वे आम दान करना चाहती थीं। उन्होंने राजा से ब्राह्मणों को आम दान करने की इच्छा प्रकट की। 

उन्हें ऐसा लगता था कि इस प्रकार दान करने से उन्हें स्वर्ग की प्राप्ति होगी। दुर्भाग्यवश कुछ दिनों बाद राजा की माता अपनी अंतिम इच्छा की पूर्ति किए बिना ही मृत्यु को प्राप्त हो गईं। उनकी मृत्यु के बाद राजा ने सभी विद्वान ब्राह्मणों को बुलाया और अपनी मां की अंतिम अपूर्ण इच्छा के बारे में बताया। 

कुछ देर तक चुप रहने के पश्चात ब्राह्मण बोले- "यह तो बहुत ही बुरा हुआ महाराज, अंतिम इच्छा के पूरा न होने की दशा में तो उन्हें मुक्ति ही नहीं मिल सकती। वे प्रेत योनि में भटकती रहेंगी। महाराज आपको उनकी आत्मा की शांति का उपाय करना चाहिए।" 

तब महाराज ने उनसे अपनी माता की अंतिम इच्छा की पूर्ति का उपाय पूछा। ब्राह्मण बोले - "उनकी आत्मा की शांति के लिए आपको उनकी पुण्यतिथि पर सोने के आमों का दान करना चाहिए।" अतः ब्राह्मणों की बात मानते हुए राजा ने मां की पुण्यतिथि पर कुछ ब्राह्मणों को भोजन के लिए बुलाया और प्रत्येक को सोने से बने आम दान में दिए। 

जब तेनालीराम को यह पता चली तो वह तुरंत समझ गए कि ब्राह्मण लोग राजा की सरलता तथा भोलेपन का लाभ उठा रहे हैं। तेनालीराम को यह बात गवारा नहीं गुजरा और उन्होंने उन ब्राह्मणों को पाठ पढ़ाने की एक योजना बनाई। 

अगले दिन तेनालीराम ने ब्राह्मणों को निमंत्रण-पत्र भेजा। उसमें लिखा था कि तेनालीराम भी अपनी माता की पुण्यतिथि पर दान करना चाहते हैं, क्योंकि मेरी माता भी अपनी एक अधूरी इच्छा लेकर इस दुनिया से चली गई थीं। जबसे उन्हें यह बात पता चली है कि उनकी मां की अंतिम इच्छा पूरी न होने के कारण वे प्रेत-योनि में भटक रही होंगी, वह बहुत ही दुखी हैं और चाहते हैं कि जल्दी ही उसकी माता की आत्मा को शांति मिले। 

ब्राह्मणों ने सोचा कि तेनालीराम के घर से भी बहुत अधिक दान मिलेगा, क्योंकि वह शाही विदूषक हैं। सभी ब्राह्मण निश्चित दिन तेनालीराम के घर पहुंच गए। ब्राह्मणों को स्वादिष्ट भोजन परोसा गया। भोजन करने के पश्चात सभी दान मिलने की प्रतीक्षा करने लगे। तभी उन्होंने देखा कि तेनालीराम लोहे के सलाखों को आग में गर्म कर रहे हैं। पूछने पर तेनालीराम बोले - "मेरी मां फोड़ों के दर्द से परेशान थीं। मृत्यु के समय उन्हें बहुत तेज दर्द हो रहा था। इससे पहले कि मैं गर्म सलाखों से उनकी सिंकाई करता, वह मर चुकी थीं। अब उनकी आत्मा की शांति के लिए मुझे आपके साथ वैसा ही करना पड़ेगा, जैसी कि उनकी अंतिम इच्छा थी।" 

यह सुनकर ब्राह्मण बौखला गए। वे वहां से तुरंत चले जाना चाहते थे। वे गुस्से में तेनालीराम से बोले कि हमें गर्म सलाखों से दागने पर तुम्हारी मां की आत्मा को कैसे शांति मिलेगी? 

तेनालीराम बोले - "महाशय, मैं झूठ नहीं बोल रहा। यदि सोने के आम दान में देने से महाराज की मां की आत्मा को स्वर्ग में शांति मिल सकती है, जो कि उनकी अंतिम इच्छा थी तो मैं अपनी मां की अंतिम इच्छा क्यों नहीं पूरी कर सकता?" 

यह सुनते ही सभी ब्राह्मण समझ गए कि तेनालीराम क्या कहना चाहते हैं? वे बोले - "तेनालीराम, हमें क्षमा करो। हम वे सोने के आम तुम्हें दे देते हैं। बस तुम हमें जाने दो।" 

तेनालीराम ने सोने के आम लेकर ब्राह्मणों को जाने दिया, परंतु एक लालची ब्राह्मण ने सारी बात राजा को जाकर बता दी। यह सुनकर राजा क्रोधित हो गए और उन्होंने तेनालीराम को बुलाया। 

महाराज तेनाली रमन से बोले - "तेनालीराम यदि तुम्हें सोने के आम चाहिए थे, तो मुझसे मांग लेते। तुम इतने लालची कैसे हो गए कि तुमने ब्राह्मणों से सोने के आम ले लिए? 

तेनालीराम ने कहा - "महाराज! मैं लालची नहीं हूं, अपितु मैं तो उनकी लालच की प्रवृत्ति को रोक रहा था। यदि वे आपकी मां की पुण्यतिथि पर सोने के आम ग्रहण कर सकते हैं, तो मेरी मां की पुण्यतिथि पर लोहे की गर्म सलाखें क्यों नहीं झेल सकते?" 

राजा तेनालीराम की बातों का अर्थ समझ गए। उन्होंने ब्राह्मणों को बुलाया और उन्हें भविष्य में  इस तरह लालच में आकर दूसरों को गुमराह करने से शख्त मना किया।

 They felt that by donating in this way they would attain heaven. Unfortunately, a few days later, the king's mother died without fulfilling her last wish. After her death the king called all the learned brahmins and told about his mother's last unfulfilled wish.

 After remaining silent for some time, the brahmin said - "It is very bad sir, in case of non-fulfilment of last wish, they cannot get salvation. They will keep wandering in the phantom vagina. Maharaj wish you the peace of their soul." Measures should be taken."

 Then the Maharaj asked him a way to fulfill his mother's last wish. The Brahmin said - "For the peace of his soul, you should donate gold mangoes on his death anniversary." Therefore, following the advice of the brahmins, the king called some brahmins for food on the death anniversary of his mother and gave each one a mango made of gold.

 When Tenaliram came to know about this, he immediately understood that the brahmins were taking advantage of the king's simplicity and innocence. This did not go down well with Tenaliram and he made a plan to teach lessons to those brahmins.

 The next day Tenaliram sent invitation letters to the brahmins. It was written in it that Tenali Ram also wants to donate on the death anniversary of his mother, because my mother too had left this world with an unfulfilled wish. Ever since he comes to know that he must be wandering in a phantom-vagina as his mother's last wish is not fulfilled, he is very sad and wants his mother's soul to rest in peace soon.

 The Brahmins thought that even from Tenaliram's house, he would get a lot of donations, because he is a royal clown. All the brahmins reached Tenaliram's house on a certain day. Delicious food was served to the Brahmins. After having food, everyone waited for the donation. Then he saw Tenaliram heating iron bars in the fire. On being asked, Tenaliram said - "My mother was troubled by the pain of boils. At the time of her death she was in severe pain. She was dead before I could douse her with hot bars. Now I pray for her soul to rest in peace. You will have to do it as his last wish."

 Hearing this, the brahmins were shocked. They wanted to leave immediately. He angrily said to Tenaliram that how will your mother's soul find peace if we are fired with hot bars?

 Tenaliram said - "Sir, I am not lying. Can?"

 Hearing this, all the brahmins understood what Tenaliram wanted to say. He said - "Tenaliram, forgive us. We give you those golden mangoes. You just let us go."

 Tenaliram let the brahmins go with the gold mangoes, but a greedy brahmin went and told the whole thing to the king. Hearing this, the king became furious and called Tenaliram.

 Maharaj said to Tenali Raman - "Tenaliram if you wanted gold mangoes, you would have asked me. How did you become so greedy that you took gold mangoes from Brahmins?

 Tenaliram said - "Maharaj! I am not greedy, but I was stopping their greedy tendencies. If they can accept gold mangoes on your mother's death anniversary, then why hot iron bars on my mother's death anniversary. Can't bear it?"

 King understood the meaning of Tenaliram's words. He called the brahmins and strictly forbade them to mislead others by getting greedy like this in future.

राजा कृष्णदेव राय अपने दरबार में बैठे हुए थे, तभी वहां एक नीलकेतु नाम का व्यक्ति आया। नीलकेतु काफी दुबला-पतला व्यक्ति था। वो दरबार में पहुंचा और राजा कृष्णदेव राय को बताया कि वो नीलदेश से आया है और अभी वो विश्व भ्रमर के मकसद से इस यात्रा पर निकला है। उसने राजा को यह भी बताया कि सभी जगह घूमने के बाद वो राजा के दरबार में पहुंचा है।   

इतना सब कुछ सुनता राजा कृष्णदेव राय काफी खुश हुए, फिर राजा ने उसका स्वागत विशेष मेहमान के रूप में किया। राजा द्वारा किए गए सम्मान और सत्कार को देखकर नीलकेतु काफी खुश हुआ। उसने राजा से बोला- "महाराज! मैं उस जगह के बारे में जानता हूं, जहां कई सारी परियां रहती हैं। मैं अपने जादू से उन्हें बुला भी सकता हूं।" 

यह सुनकर राजा कृष्णदेव राय काफी खुश हुए और उत्सुक होते हुए बोले - "अच्छा, ऐसा भी हो सकता है क्या? चलो बताओ इसके लिए मुझे क्या करना होगा?"             

यह सुनकर नीलकेतु ने राजा को रात में तालाब के पास आने को कहा और बोला कि वो परियों को मनोरंजन और नृत्य के लिए बुला सकता है। यह सुनकर राजा ने नीलकेतु की बात मान ली। फिर जैसे ही रात हुई, राजा अपने घोड़े पर बैठकर तालाब की ओर चल दिए। राजा जैसे ही तालाब के पास पहुंचे, तो वहां पास ही में एक किले के सामने नीलकेतु राजा का इंतजार कर रहा था। राजा उसके पास पहुंचे, तो नीलकेतु ने उनका स्वागत करते हुए कहा - "महाराज! मैंने सारा इंतजाम कर लिया है और सारी परियां किले के अंदर ही मौजूद हैं।"

राजा जैसे ही नीलकेतु के साथ किले के अंदर जाने लगे, तभी राजा के सैनिकों ने नीलकेतु को बंधक बना लिया। यह देख राजा हैरान रह गए।

महाराज ने पूछा - "यह सब क्या हो रहा है? तुम सब ने इसे बंधक क्यों बना लिया है?" तभी किले के अंदर से तेनालीराम बाहर आए और उन्होंने कहा - "महाराज! मैं बताता हूं कि क्या हो रहा है?"     

तेनालीराम ने बताना शुरू किया -"महाराज! यह नीलकेतु कोई यात्रा करने वाला नहीं है, बल्कि नीलदेश का रक्षा मंत्री है और उसने धोखे से आपको यहां बुलाया है। किले के अंदर कोई परियां नहीं है। यह सिर्फ आपको यहां मारने के लिए लेकर आया था।" 

यह सुनकर राजा ने तेनालीराम को अपनी जान बचाने के लिए धन्यवाद किया और पूछा - "तुम्हें इस बात का पता कैसे लगा तेनालीरामन?"          

तब तेनालीराम ने कहा - "महाराज, पहले दिन ही जब वो दरबार में आया था, उसी दिन मुझे इस पर शक हो गया था। उसके बाद मैंने इसके पीछे अपने साथियों को जासूसी के लिए लगा दिया था, जिससे मुझे पता चला कि यह आपको मारने की योजना बना रहा था।" तेनालीराम की सूझबूझ के लिए राजा कृष्णदेव राय ने उन्हें धन्यवाद दिया।

Hearing this, King Krishna Deva Raya was very happy and said being curious - "Well, can this also happen? Let's tell what I have to do for this?"

Hearing this, Neelketu asked the king to come near the pond at night and said that he could invite the fairies for entertainment and dance. Hearing this, the king agreed to Neelketu. Then as soon as the night came, the king sat on his horse and walked towards the pond. As soon as the king reached near the pond, Neelketu was waiting for the king in front of a fort nearby. When the king reached him, Neelketu welcomed him and said - "Maharaj! I have made all the arrangements and all the fairies are present inside the fort."

As soon as the king started going inside the fort with Neelketu, only then the king's soldiers took Neelketu hostage. The king was surprised to see this.

Maharaj asked - "What is all this happening? Why have you all taken it hostage?" Then Tenaliram came out from inside the fort and said - "Maharaj! I will tell what is happening?"

Tenaliram started telling - "Maharaj! This Nileketu is not a traveller, but the defense minister of Nildesh and he has called you here by deceit. There are no fairies inside the fort. It just brought you here to kill you." Was."

Hearing this, the king thanked Tenaliram for saving his life and asked - "How did you come to know about this, Tenaliraman?"

Then Tenaliram said - "Maharaj, on the very first day when he came to the court, I had doubts about it. After that I had put my comrades behind it for spying, from which I came to know that it was you. Was planning to kill." King Krishnadeva Raya thanked Tenalirama for his wisdom.

तेनालीराम की हाजिरजवाबी तो मशहूर थी ही, साथ ही हमेशा प्रतिक्रिया देने के अपने अनोखे तरीकों के लिए भी तेनालीराम जाने जाते थे। उनसे जो भी सवाल पूछा जाता था, वह हमेशा अलग अंदाज में जवाब देते थे, भले ही सवाल किसी भी क्षेत्र से हो। इस बार सवाल उनकी पसंदीदा मिठाई का था। तो चलिए इस जानते हैं, तेनालीराम ने अपनी पसंदीदा मिठाई के पीछे महाराज कृष्णदेवराय की कसरत कैसे कराई? 

सर्दियों का मौसम था। दोपहर के समय महाराजा कृष्णदेवराय, राजपुरोहित और तेनालीराम महल के बगीचे में टहल रहे थे। महाराज ने कहा, "इस बार बहुत ठंड पड़ रही है। इतनी ठंड वर्षों से नहीं पड़ी है। यह मौसम जम रईसों की तरह खाने और स्वस्थ रहने का मौसम है। क्यों राजपुरोहित जी, आप क्या कहते हैं?" 

राजपुरोहित ने जवाब दिया - "महाराज! आप बिल्कुल सही कह रहे हैं। इस मौसम में ढेर सारे मेवे, फल और मिठाई खाने का मजा ही अलग है।" 

मिठाइयों का नाम सुनते ही महाराज ने कहा, "आप बिल्कुल सही कह रहे हैं। वैसे, सर्दियों में कौन सी मिठाई खाई जाती है?

राजपुरोहित ने कहा - "महाराज! काजू कतली, बर्फी, हलवा, गुलाब जामुन आदि सूखे मेवों से बनी कई मिठाइयाँ हैं। इसके साथ ही और भी कई मिठाइयाँ हैं, जिन्हें हम सर्दियों में खा सकते हैं। यह सुनकर महाराज हंसने लगे और तेनालीराम की ओर मुड़ते हुए कहे -" तेनालीराम तुम बताओ, ठंड में तुम्हें कौन सी मिठाई खाना पसंद है?" 

तब तेनालीराम ने उत्तर दिया - "महाराज! आप और  राजपुरोहित जी, आप दोनों रात को मेरे साथ चलिए। मैं आप लोगों को अपनी पसंदीदा मिठाई खिलाऊंगा।" 

महाराज ने कहा - "ऐसी कौन सी मिठाई है? तुम उसका नाम बताओ, हम महल में ही उस मिठाई को बनवाएंगे।" 

तेनालीराम ने कहा - "नहीं महाराज, वह मिठाई यहां किसी को बनानी नहीं आएगी। आपको मेरे साथ बाहर ही चलना पड़ेगा। 

महाराज ने हंसकर कहा - "ठीक है! तो फिर आज रात को खाने के बाद की मिठाई हम तुम्हारे बताए जगह से और तुम्हारे पसंद के ही खाएंगे।" 

खाना खाने के बाद महाराज और राजपुरोहित ने सादे कपड़े पहने और तेनाली के साथ चल दिए। गाँव को पार करके खेतों में बहुत दूर तक चलने के बाद महाराज ने कहा - "तेनाली! और कितना चलना पड़ेगा? तुमने तो आज हमें बुरी तरह थका दिया है।" 

तेनालीराम ने कहा - महाराज! बस कुछ दूर और।

थोड़ी दूर और चलने के बाद तेनालीराम ने महाराज और राजपुरोहित को वहां रखी एक खाट पर बिठाया और स्वयं मिठाई लेने चले गए। कुछ ही देर में वह अपने साथ तीन कटोरी गर्म मिठाइयाँ ले आए। जैसे ही महाराज ने मिठाई का स्वाद चखा, उनके मुंह से वाह के अलावा कुछ नहीं निकला। महाराज और राजपुरोहित ने एक ही बार में सारी मिठाई खा ली। 

इसके बाद महाराज ने तेनालीराम से कहा - वाह! मजा आ गया, क्या थी यह मिठाई? हमने यह पहले कभी नहीं खाई है।" 

महाराज की बातों पर तेनालीराम मुस्कुराए और बोले, "महाराज यह गुड़ था। पास में एक गन्ने का खेत है और किसान रात में उससे गुड़ बनाते हैं। मुझे यहाँ आकर गुड़ खाना बहुत पसंद है। मेरा मानना है कि गर्म गुड़ भी किसी अच्छी मिठाई से कम नहीं है।

Rajpurohit replied - "Maharaj! You are absolutely right. The fun of eating lots of nuts, fruits and sweets in this season is different."

On hearing the name of the sweets the Maharaj said, "You are absolutely right. By the way, which sweet is eaten in winter?

Rajpurohit said - "Maharaj! There are many sweets made from dry fruits like cashew katli, barfi, halwa, gulab jamun etc. Along with this, there are many other sweets, which we can eat in winter. On hearing this Maharaj started laughing and asked Tenaliram. Turning to him, he said, "Tenaliram, tell me, which sweets do you like to eat in winter?"

Then Tenaliram replied - "Maharaj! You and Rajpurohit ji, both of you come with me at night. I will feed you my favorite sweets."

Maharaj said - "What is such a sweet? You tell its name, we will get that sweet made in the palace itself."

Tenaliram said - "No sir, nobody will come here to make that sweet. You will have to walk outside with me."

The Maharaj laughed and said - "Okay! Then tonight we will eat the sweets after dinner from the place you mentioned and of your choice."

After having dinner, Maharaj and Rajpurohit put on plain clothes and left with Tenali. After crossing the village and walking for a long distance in the fields, the Maharaj said - "Tenali! How much more will we have to walk? You have tired us badly today."

Tenaliram said - Maharaj! Just some distance away.

After walking some distance, Tenaliram made Maharaj and Rajpurohit sit on a cot kept there and himself went to get sweets. In no time he brought three bowls of hot sweets with him. As soon as Maharaj tasted the sweet, nothing but wow came out of his mouth. The Maharaj and the Rajpurohit ate all the sweets in one go.

After this Maharaj said to Tenaliram - Wow! Enjoyed it, what was this sweet? We've never eaten this before."

Tenaliram smiled at Maharaj's words and said, "Maharaj it was jaggery. There is a sugarcane field nearby and farmers make jaggery from it at night. I love coming here and eating jaggery. I believe that hot jaggery is also a good sweet. is not less than.
