सोमेश्वर मंदिर, कोलार

सोमेश्वर मंदिर कोलार क्षेत्र के मध्य में स्थित है और इस शहर के प्रसिद्ध मंदिरों में से एक है। सोमेश्वर मंदिर भगवान शिव को समर्पित है। इस मंदिर में उन्हें भगवान सोमेश्वर के नाम से पूजा जाता है।

सोमेश्वर मंदिर भारत के कर्नाटक राज्य के कोलार शहर में स्थित है, जिसे तमिल राजा चोल ने बनवाया था। यह 14वीं शताब्दी के विजयनगर युग की द्रविड़ शैली का एक अलंकृत निर्माण है। सोमेश्वर, हिंदू भगवान शिव का दूसरा नाम है, जो मंदिर के प्रमुख देवता हैं। यह मंदिर राष्ट्रीय महत्व के स्मारक के रूप में भारतीय पुरातत्व सर्वेक्षण द्वारा संरक्षित है। 

द्रविड़ वास्तुकला में बने इस मंदिर के प्रवेश द्वार पर बना विशाल गोपुर इस मंदिर के निर्माण में चोलों के हाथ की गवाही देता है। मंदिर में भारी प्राकार दीवारें, एक कल्याण मंतप (विवाह कक्ष), विशाल स्तंभों वाला एक मुख मंडप, एक वसंत मंतप (विवाह मंच) और देवी पार्वती के लिए एक मंदिर है। कल्याण मंडप में 64-16 भुजाओं वाले स्तंभ हैं, जिनमें से कुछ पर पुरुषों को घुड़सवारी करते हुए और अन्य पर पौराणिक कहानियों का चित्रण है। स्तंभों पर की गई नक्काशी पर यूरोपीय, चीनी और थाई शैली का प्रभाव है।

आंतरिक मंडप में आठ खूबसूरत मूर्तियों के साथ-साथ कुंभ कलश, लताएं, वनस्पतियां, केले के फूल, शेर, हाथी, बैल, भगवान वेंकटेश्वर, भगवान वेणुगोपाल, भगवान अंजनेय, देवी लक्ष्मी, श्री रामानुजाचार्य और कई अन्य जटिल नक्काशी हैं। मुख्य मंदिर के साथ, मंदिर परिसर में देवी माँ पार्वती का एक और मंदिर भी स्थित है जहाँ आप नंदी की एक और सुंदर मूर्ति देख सकते हैं।

कोलार लगभग सोने का पर्याय है। यह शहर 5वीं शताब्दी से अपने सोने के भंडार के लिए जाना जाता है।

Someshwara Temple, Kolar

Someshwara Temple is situated in the heart of Kolar region and is one of the famous temples of the city. Someshwar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. He is worshiped in this temple by the name of Lord Someshwar.

The Someshwara Temple is located in the city of Kolar in the Indian state of Karnataka, which was built by the Tamil king Chola. It is an ornate Dravidian style construction of the 14th century Vijayanagara era. Someshwar, another name for the Hindu god Shiva, is the presiding deity of the temple. The temple is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India as a monument of national importance.

The huge gopura built at the entrance of this temple built in Dravidian architecture testifies to the hand of the Cholas in the construction of this temple. The temple has massive prakara walls, a kalyana mantapa (marriage hall), a mukha mantapa with massive pillars, a vasanta mantapa (marriage platform) and a shrine for goddess Parvati. The Kalyana Mandapa has 64-16 side pillars, some depicting men riding horses and others depicting mythological stories. The carvings on the pillars are influenced by European, Chinese and Thai styles.

The top portion of the Kalyana Mandapa reflects the Chinese style of architecture. In addition, Vijayanagara inscriptions are found on the walls of the sacrificial hall and the store room of the temple, which date back to the 15th century CE. The door frame of this grand temple is inscribed with dvarapalas (guards) in pure Vijayanagara style. A granite bull is made at the entrance of the temple. The temple also has a large terraced tank called Kalyani in the Vijayanagara style.

The inner mandapa has eight beautiful sculptures as well as intricate carvings of Kumbh Kalash, creepers, flora, banana flowers, lions, elephants, bulls, Lord Venkateswara, Lord Venugopala, Lord Anjaneya, Goddess Lakshmi, Sri Ramanujacharya and many more. Along with the main temple, another temple of Goddess Parvati is also located in the temple complex where you can see another beautiful idol of Nandi.

Kolar is almost synonymous with gold. The city is known for its gold deposits from the 5th century.
