ऐटलस मोथ (Atlas Moth) - सर्प की तरह पंखों की आकृति वाली तितली की प्रजाति

रंग बिरंगी तितलियां तो आप सभी ने बहुत देखी होंगी, परंतु आज जिस तितली के बारे में चर्चा कर रहे हैं, उसके बारे में कम ही लोगों को जानकारी होगी। आज हम चर्चा करेंगे सर्प की तरह पंखों की आकृति वाली तितली की।

बिहार के पश्चिम चंपारण में बने वाल्मीकि टाइगर रिजर्व से बैरिया काला गांव में 25 Sep 2022 को तितली की खास तरह की प्रजाति मिली थी, इसका नाम एटलस मॉथ है। यह गांव के ही एक घर के पास जल रहे बल्‍ब पर बैठी देखी गई थी। यह दुर्लभ किस्‍म की ति‍तली है। 

यह दिखने में आम तितलियों से थोड़ी अलग है। इसके पंखों पर सांप जैसी आकृति बनी है। स्‍थानीय वन विभाग के अध‍िकारी सुनील कुमार के मुताबिक, यह तितली एटलस मॉथ की दुर्लभ प्रजाति है, जो खासतौर पर अमेरिका, चीन, अफ्रीका और मलेशिया में पाई जाती है। हालांकि इन देशों में इसे अलग-अलग नामों से बुलाया जाता है। सबसे खास बात होती है इसके पंखों में। यह 24 सेंटीमीटर में फैले हुए होते हैं। 

यह तितली खास तरह से अपना बचाव करती है। जब भी इसे खतरा महसूस होता है, तो यह अपने रंग-बिरंगे सांप की आकृति वाले पंख फड़फड़ाती है, तो शिकार करने वाला आश्‍चर्यचकित रह जाता है और डरता है। इससे यह अपना बचाव करने में सफल रहती है। सभी कीटों में इसका आकार सबसे बड़ा होता है। यह दुनिआ का सबसे बड़ा कीट है। 

WWF के अध‍िकारी कमलेश मौर्य के मुताबिक इस दुर्लभ ति‍तली का जीवनकाल मात्र 10 दिन का होता है। यह जंगलों में जून से लेकर अगस्‍त के अंत तक नजर आती है। जब यह अंडे देती है, तो उसके बच्‍चों के बाहर आने में दो हफ्ते लगते हैं। वहीं, प्‍यूपा से एक तितली बनने में 21 दिन तक लग जाते हैं। पूरी तरह तितली बन जाने पर यह 10 दिन तक जीती है। 

कमलेश मौर्य के मुताबिक, आमलोगों को इसके बारे में बहुत कम जानकारी है क्‍योंकि यह बहुत कम नजर आती है। बिहार से पहले यह झारखंड के पलामू में मिली थी। अंधेरे में उड़ने वाली यह तितली रोशनी की ओर आकर्षित होती है। इसलिए जहां भी रोशनी दिखती है यह उसके करीब पहुंच जाती है।

Atlas Moth - a species of butterfly with snake-like wings

All of you must have seen many colorful butterflies, but very few people would know about the butterfly we are discussing today. Today we will discuss about a butterfly with wings like a snake.

A special species of butterfly was found on 25 Sep 2022 in Bairiya Kala village from Valmiki Tiger Reserve in West Champaran, Bihar, its name is Atlas Moth. It was seen sitting on a burning bulb near a house in the village itself. This is a rare type of butterfly.

It is slightly different from common butterflies in appearance. A snake-like shape is made on its wings. According to local forest department officer Sunil Kumar, this butterfly is a rare species of atlas moth, which is found especially in America, China, Africa and Malaysia. Although it is called by different names in these countries. The most special thing is in its wings. It is spread over 24 cm.

This butterfly protects itself in a special way. Whenever it senses danger, it flaps its colorful snake-shaped wings, leaving the predator in awe and fear. With this it is successful in defending itself. It is the largest among all insects.

According to WWF official Kamlesh Maurya, the life span of this rare butterfly is only 10 days. It is visible in the forests from June to the end of August. When it lays eggs, it takes two weeks for its young to come out. Whereas, it takes up to 21 days to develop from pupa to a butterfly. It lives for 10 days after becoming a butterfly.

According to Kamlesh Maurya, common people have very little knowledge about it because it is rarely seen. Before Bihar it was found in Palamu of Jharkhand. This butterfly flying in the dark is attracted towards the light. So wherever the light is seen it gets closer to it.
