महाराज कृष्ण देव के नगर में चमेली नाम की एक महिला रहती थी, जिसके पति का नाम माधो था। चमेली अपने पति से बहुत लड़ती - झगड़ती रहती थी और पति पर अपना गुस्सा उतारती थी। उनकी चांदकुमारी नाम की एक बेटी भी थी। 

चांदकुमारी देखने में बेहद खूबसूरत थी। खूबसूरत और काबिल होने के बावजूद भी उसकी झगड़ालू मां के कारण कोई उससे शादी नहीं करना चाहता था। चंदकुमारी की मां चमेली के झगड़ालू व्यवहार के बारे में गांव में सभी लोग अवगत थे।

वहीं तेनालीराम अपनी बुद्धि के कारण बहुत प्रसिद्ध थे। उनकी प्रसिद्धि के कारण, कई लोग उनसे ईर्ष्या करते थे। एक दिन ऐसे ही ईर्ष्यालु लोगों में से एक उनके घर आया। वह तेनालीराम को बताने लगा कि हमारे नगर में चांदकुमारी नाम की एक बेहद खूबसूरत लड़की रहती है। वह उस खूबसूरत लड़की का रिश्ता तेनालीराम के भाई के लिए ले आया है। 

वह आदमी चाहता था कि विवाह पश्चात चांदकुमारी भी अपनी मां की तरह अपने पति से लड़ाई झगड़ा करे और उसे डराकर रखे। यह सोच मन में लिए ही वह तेनालीराम के यहां आया था, लेकिन वह इस बात से अंजान था कि तेनालीराम का कोई भाई था ही नहीं। तेनालीराम को उस आदमी की खराब नियत का पता शुरू में ही लग चुका था, क्योंकि वे भी चमेली के झगड़ालू आदत के बारे में पहले से ही जानते थे। 

तेनालीराम बहुत बुद्धिमान थे, उन्होंने लड़की के बारे में और जानने का नाटक किया, आखिरकार रिश्ते के लिए राजी हो गए और एक कप चाय और पानी के बाद उस आदमी को विदा कर दिया। अब परेशानी यह थी कि तेनालीराम को शादी के लिए एक भाई की जरूरत थी, क्योंकि वह पहले ही शादी के लिए राजी हो गए थे।

तेनालीराम उसकी तलाश में दूसरे गांव की ओर चल दिए। जब वह युवक की तलाश कर रहे थे तो रास्ते में उन्हें एक परेशान युवक मिला। जब तेनालीराम ने उसकी परेशानी का कारण पूछा तो उसने जवाब दिया कि "मैं काम की तलाश में हूं। क्या तुम्हारे पास मेरे लिए कोई काम होगा?" 

तेनालीराम ने उसे काम देने का वादा किया और कहा कि "इसके बदले में तुम्हें मेरी इच्छा के अनुसार शादी करनी होगी। तुम निश्चिंत रहो क्योंकि जिस लड़की से मैं तुम्हारी शादी कराना चाहता हूं, वह बहुत सुंदर और योग्य है।" 

यह सुनकर युवक खुश हो गया। इधर चांदकुमारी के घर भी शादी का प्रस्ताव सुनकर सभी खुश हो गए। पंडित को जल्दी से बुलाकर शादी की तारीख पक्की की गई और तैयारियां शुरू हो गईं। 

बड़ी धूमधाम से चांदकुमारी का विवाह सम्पन्न हुआ। विदाई का समय आया तो चांदकुमारी की मां चमेली ने अपनी पुत्री के कान में कहा - "बेटी! मैं तुम्हारे पिता को रोज डरा-धमकाकर अपने नियंत्रण में रखती हूं। अगर तुम भी शुरुआत से ही अपने पति पर रौब झाड़ोगी तो तुम्हारा पति भी तुम्हारे नियंत्रण में रहेगा।" चांदकुमारी ने अपनी मां की बात को ध्यान से सुना और उनकी बात मान ली।

चमेली ने अपने पति माधो से भी कहा कि वह भी कुछ दिनों के लिए अपनी बेटी के यहां चला जाए।

धीरे-धीरे समय बीतता गया और चांदकुमारी को एहसास हुआ कि उसका पति और तेनालीराम बहुत जिद्दी और असभ्य हैं, लेकिन फिर भी वह हर दिन अपने पति से किसी न किसी बात पर झगड़ती रहती थी और अपना गुस्सा भी जाहिर करती रहती थी। 

यहाँ माधो भी वहीं रहता था, इसलिए तेनालीराम ने उसे दूध, घी, बादाम आदि पौष्टिक आहार खिलाए और कुछ ही महीनों में उसे बलवान बना दिया। जब वह अपने घर लौटने लगा, तो तेनालीराम ने उसे अपने पास बुलाया और समझाया - "देखो दोस्त! मुझे पता है कि तुमने इतने सालों में बहुत कुछ सहा है। अगर शुरू से ही अपनी पत्नी से डरने के बजाय तुमने उसे जवाब दिया और शब्द और क्रोध से समझाया होता, तो आज यह स्थिति नहीं होती। तो अब समय आ गया है, जब आपको साहस दिखाना होगा और अपनी पत्नी के क्रोधी स्वभाव को सुधारना होगा। अब तुम खुद जानते हो कि क्या करना है। तुम्हें अपनी मदद खुद करनी होगी।" 

माधो तेनालीराम की बात समझ गया। उसने तेनालीराम को धन्यवाद दिया और अपने घर के लिए रवाना हो गया। जब वह घर पहुंचा तो चमेली उसे देखकर बहुत खुश हुई। वह अपने पति से लड़ने के बहाने तलाशने लगी। 

यह सोचकर जैसे ही वह अपने पति पर चिल्लाने लगी, तो उसका पति उसे सच बताने लगा। वह उस पर बहुत क्रोधित होने लगा। झगड़े की शोर सुनकर सभी पड़ोसी वहां आ गए। सभी ने माधो को शांत करने की कोशिश की, लेकिन माधो का गुस्सा सातवें आसमान पर था। इतनी सारी बातें सुनकर चमेली शांत हो गई। माधो जानता था कि जब कोई किसी के बारे में बुरा बोलता है या उसका सम्मान नहीं करता है, तो कितना दुख होता है। कुछ देर बाद माधो का गुस्सा भी शांत हो गया और उसने चमेली से माफी मांगते हुए कहा कि उसने यह सब सिर्फ उसे सबक सिखाने के लिए किया है। 

अब चमेली भी पूरी तरह से बदल चुकी थी और उसने भी माधो से अपने बुरे व्यवहार के लिए माफी मांगी ली। इतना सब होने के बाद उसने अपनी बेटी चांदकुमारी को भी समझाया कि वह भी अपने पति की बात माने और उससे लड़ाई न करे। साथ ही उन्होंने अपनी बेटी से यह भी कहा कि किसी भी रिश्ते में स्नेह और सम्मान का होना बहुत जरूरी है। अपनी मां से यह सब सुनकर चांदकुमारी भी अपने पति के साथ सम्मान और खुशी से अपना जीवन व्यतीत करने लगी।

Chandkumari was very beautiful to see. Despite being beautiful and capable, no one wanted to marry her because of her quarrelsome mother. Everyone in the village was aware of the quarrelsome behavior of Chandkumari's mother, Jasmine.

At the same time, Tenaliram was very famous due to his intelligence. Because of his fame, many people envied him. One day one of such envious people came to his house. He started telling Tenaliram that a very beautiful girl named Chandkumari lives in our town. He has brought that beautiful girl's relation to Tenaliram's brother.

The man wanted that after marriage, Chandkumari, like her mother, should fight with her husband and keep him intimidated. With this thought in mind, he had come to Tenaliram's place, but he was unaware that Tenaliram had no brother. Tenaliram had come to know of the man's bad intentions from the very beginning, as he also already knew about Jasmine's quarrelsome habit.

Tenaliram was very intelligent, pretended to know more about the girl, eventually agreed to the relationship and after a cup of tea and water sent the man off. Now the trouble was that Tenaliram needed a brother for marriage, as he had already agreed to the marriage.

Tenaliram went in search of him towards another village. When he was looking for the young man, he found a troubled youth on the way. When Tenaliram asked the reason for his trouble he replied that "I am looking for work. Will you have any work for me?"

Tenaliram promised to give her work and said that "in return you will have to marry as per my wish. You rest assured because the girl I want to marry you is very beautiful and deserving."

The young man was happy hearing this. Here everyone became happy after hearing the proposal of marriage at Chandkumari's house. The wedding date was confirmed by calling the pandit quickly and the preparations started.

Chandkumari's marriage was completed with great pomp. When the time of farewell came, Chandkumari's mother Jasmine said in her daughter's ear - "Daughter! I keep your father under my control by intimidating you every day. will be under control." Chandkumari listened carefully to her mother's words and agreed to her.

Jasmine also asked her husband Madho to go to her daughter's place for a few days.

Gradually time passed and Chandkumari realized that her husband and Tenaliram were very stubborn and rude, but still she used to quarrel with her husband every day on some issue and also used to express her anger.

Here Madho also lived there, so Tenaliram fed him nutritious food like milk, ghee, almonds etc. and made him strong in a few months. When he started returning to his home, Tenaliram called him to himself and explained - "Look friend! I know you have gone through a lot over the years. If instead of being afraid of your wife from the beginning you answered her and said And had it been explained with anger, this situation would not have happened today. So now is the time when you have to show courage and correct the angry nature of your wife. Now you yourself know what to do. You have to help yourself. Will be."

Madho understood Tenaliram's point. He thanked Tenaliram and left for his home. When he reached home, Jasmine was very happy to see him. She started looking for excuses to fight with her husband.

Thinking this, as soon as she started shouting at her husband, her husband started telling her the truth. He got very angry at her. Hearing the noise of quarrel, all the neighbors came there. Everyone tried to pacify Madho, but Madho's anger was in seventh heaven. Jasmine became calm after hearing so many things. Madho knew how much it hurts when someone spoke ill of someone or didn't respect them. After sometime Madho's anger also subsided and she apologizes to Jasmine saying that she has done all this just to teach her a lesson.

Now Jasmine too had changed completely and she also apologized to Madho for her bad behavior. After all this, she also explained to her daughter Chandkumari that she should also obey her husband and not fight with him. At the same time, he also told his daughter that it is very important to have affection and respect in any relationship. Hearing all this from her mother, Chandkumari also started living her life with respect and happiness with her husband.
