ग्लेडियोलस पंजाब का राजकीय फूल है। इसका नाम लैटिन शब्द 'ग्लैडियस' से लिया गया है, जिसका अर्थ तलवार होता है। इसे 'तलवार लिली' के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। ये फूल अक्टूबर से मार्च तक खिलते हैं और गुलाबी, बैंगनी, लाल और सफेद जैसे विभिन्न रंगों में पाए जाते हैं। ग्लेडियोलस जीनस में लगभग 300 प्रजातियाँ पाई जाती हैं। ग्लेडियोलस फूल चार फीट की ऊँचाई तक बढ़ सकते हैं और इनमें एक विशिष्ट स्पाइक जैसा पुष्पक्रम होता है जो लाल, गुलाबी, बैंगनी, पीले और सफेद सहित कई रंगों में कई फूल खिलता है। इसके पौधे में कोई फल नहीं लगते हैं और खाने के लिए जहरीले होते हैं।
