अरुणाचल प्रदेश  और केरल का राजकीय/ राज्य पक्षी 

"धनेश ( HornBill )"

भारत के 28 राज्य और 8 केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों के अपने अलग-अलग राजकीय पशु, पक्षी, फूल, पेड़ और अपनी अलग-अलग रोचक जानकारियां हैं। पिछले कुछ अंकों में कई राज्य के राजकीय पक्षियों के बारे में इस ब्लॉग में चर्चा की गई है। इसी क्रम को आगे बढ़ाते हुए आज जानते हैं 'अरुणाचल प्रदेश और केरल ' के राजकीय पक्षी के बारे में।

पक्षी और फूल प्रकृति की एक ऐसी रचना है, जिन्हें देखकर मन खुशी से प्रफुल्लित हो उठता है। फूलों में जहां खुशबू मन को मोह लेती है, वही पक्षियों की चहचहाहट मन को सुकून देती है। एक ऐसा ही पक्षी है धनेश। यह दुनिया के सबसे आकर्षक पक्षियों में से एक है। गाय के सिंह के समान इसकी अदभुत रंग बिरंगी चोंच और उस पर हड्डियों से बना हुआ, हेलमेट इसकी विशेषता है।

अरुणाचल प्रदेश का राजकीय पक्षी "धनेश" है जिसे अंग्रेजी में "ग्रेट हॉर्नबिल" के नाम से जाना जाता है। इसकी चोंच लंबी और नीचे की ओर घूमी हुई होती है और ऊपर वाली चोंच के ऊपर लंबा उभार होता है, जिसकी वजह से इसका अंग्रेजी नाम हॉर्नबिल (Horn - सींग, bill - चोंच) पड़ा है। भारत में इसकी 9 जातियां पाई जाती हैं। इनमें से चार प्रजातियां पश्चिम घाट पर पाई जाती हैं - भारतीय ग्रे हॉर्नबिल, मालाबार ग्रे हॉर्नबिल, मालाबार पाइड हॉर्नबिल और व्यापाक रूप से पाई जाने वाली ग्रेट हॉर्नबिल जो अरुणाचल प्रदेश और केरल राज्य का राजकीय पक्षी है। 

हॉर्नबिल पेड़ के कोटर या चट्टान की दरार में अपना घोंसला बनाते हैं रंग रूप के अलावा इनका आकार भी अलग-अलग होता है काला बौना हार्नबिल मात्र 1.06 किलोग्राम का होता है वही सदर्न ग्राउंड हार्नबिल का वजन 6.2 किलो तक हो सकता है। नर आकार में मादा से बड़ा होता है। चोंच का आकार भी इन पक्षियों में अलग-अलग पाया जाता है।

हॉर्नबिल दिन में घूमने वाला पक्षी है। यह जोड़े में या समूह में रहता है। मादा एक बार में छह सफेद अंडे किसी पेड़ के कोटर या चट्टान की दरार में देती है। अंडे देने के बाद मादा अक्सर इस कोटर में अपने आप को कैद कर लेती है। नर व मादा कोटर के मुंह को मिट्टी की दीवार से बंद कर देते हैं। उसमें सिर्फ खाना पहुंचाने लायक ही छेद रह जाता है। इस दौरान नर फलों का गूदा मादा को भोजन के रूप में पहुंचाता रहता है। जब बच्चे बड़े हो जाते हैं तो नर और मादा मिट्टी की दीवार को हटा देते हैं। हॉर्नबिल सर्वभक्षी (सबकुछ खाने वाला) है। यह मुख्य रूप से फल-फूल और छोटे जीवों को खाता है।

अरुणाचल प्रदेश का राजकीय पक्षी धनेश (हॉर्नबिल) इस राज्य के निशि नामक जनजातीय समूह का सांस्कृतिक प्रतीक है। ऐतिहासिक रूप से निशि जनजाति के लोग सिर पर पहनी जाने वाली विशेष प्रकार की टोपी बनाने के लिए इस पक्षी का शिकार कर उसके पंख और चोंच का इस्तेमाल करते थे। भारी संख्या में शिकार के कारण इसकी आबादी ख़तरे में पड़ गई। 

पिछले कुछ सालों में राज्य द्वारा धनेश पक्षी के शिकार को रोकने के प्रयासों में इस जनजाति के लोगों को शामिल करने पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया गया। उन्हें अपनी टोपियों में धनेश की चोंच के बदले प्लास्टिक और फ़ाइबरग्लास के उपयोग के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया गया।

India's 28 states and 8 union territories have their own different state animals, birds, flowers, trees and their own interesting information. The state birds of many states have been discussed in this blog in the last few issues. Taking this sequence forward, today we know about the state bird of 'Arunachal Pradesh and kerala'.

Birds and flowers are such a creation of nature, seeing which the mind gets elated with happiness. Where the fragrance of flowers fascinates the mind, the chirping of birds gives peace to the mind. Dhanesh is one such bird. It is one of the most attractive birds in the world. It is characterized by its wonderful colorful beak and the helmet made of bones on it, similar to the cow's lion.

The state bird of Arunachal Pradesh is "Dhanesh" which is known as "Great Hornbill" in English. Its beak is long and curved downwards and has a long bulge on the upper beak, due to which it has got its English name hornbill (Horn - horn, bill - beak). Its 9 castes are found in India. Four of these species are found in the Western Ghats – the Indian gray hornbill, the Malabar gray hornbill, the Malabar pied hornbill and the widely distributed great hornbill, which is the state bird of Arunachal Pradesh and Kerala.

Hornbills make their nests in tree hollows or rock crevices. Apart from color and form, their size also varies. The black dwarf hornbill weighs only 1.06 kg, while the southern ground hornbill can weigh up to 6.2 kg. The male is larger in size than the female. The shape of the beak is also found to be different in these birds.

Hornbill is a diurnal bird. It lives in pairs or in groups. The female lays six white eggs at a time in the hollow of a tree or in a crevice of a rock. After laying eggs, the female often confines herself in this cavity. Male and female close the mouth of the cavity with a wall of mud. Only a hole is left in it to deliver food. During this, the male continues to deliver the fruit pulp to the female as food. When the babies are grown, the male and female remove the mud wall. Hornbill is omnivore (eats everything). It mainly eats fruits and small animals.

The Dhanesh (hornbill), the state bird of Arunachal Pradesh, is the cultural symbol of the Nishi tribal group of the state. Historically, the people of the Nishi tribe hunted this bird and used its feathers and beak to make a special type of headgear. Its population was endangered due to heavy hunting.

In the past few years, efforts by the state to stop the hunting of the Dhanesh bird have focused on involving the people of this tribe. They were encouraged to use plastic and fiberglass in their hats instead of Dhanesh's beak.
