51 शक्तिपीठों में से एक अमरनाथ का महामाया शक्ति पीठ (Mahamaya Shakti Peeth), अमरनाथ की पवित्र गुफा में जहाँ भगवान शिव के हिम-ज्योतिर्लिंग के दर्शन होते हैं, वहीं पर हिम-शक्तिपीठ भी बनता है। 

महामाया शक्ति पीठ (Mahamaya Shakti Peeth) हिंदुओं के लिए सबसे प्रमुख धार्मिक स्थलों में से एक है। यह मंदिर भारत के जम्मू कश्मीर राज्य के अमरनाथ पर्वत पर स्थित है। माना जाता है कि यह मंदिर लगभग 5000 साल पुराना है। जम्मू कश्मीर के अमरनाथ की पवित्र गुफा में हेम निर्मित शिवलिंग के दर्शन होते हैं। हिम से निर्मित शिवलिंग को अमरनाथ शिवलिंग कहा जाता है, और इस शिवलिंग के पास हिम से निर्मित 1 शक्तिपीठ भी बनता है। बहुत कम लोग जानते हैं कि कश्मीर में माता सती का एक बहुत ही जागृत शक्तिपीठ है, जिसे "महामाया शक्ति" पीठ कहा जाता है। इस शक्तिपीठ को "पार्वती पीठ" भी कहा जाता है। शक्तिपीठ का दर्शन केवल अमरनाथ के दर्शन पर ही हो सकती है। यह मंदिर भी पवित्र अमरनाथ की गुफा में ही है। अमरनाथ की यात्रा बहुत ही कठिन है। यह यात्रा पैदल व घोड़े द्वारा की जाती है। यहां दर्शन करने से जन्म जन्म के पाप कट जाते हैं।

यह मंदिर माता के 51 शक्तिपीठों में से एक है। इस मंदिर में शक्ति को ‘महामाया’ के रूप पूजा जाता है और भैरव को ‘त्रिसन्ध्येश्वर’ के रूप में पूजा जाता है। पुराणों के अनुसार जहाँ-जहाँ सती के अंग के टुकड़े, धारण किए वस्त्र या आभूषण गिरे, वहाँ-वहाँ शक्तिपीठ अस्तित्व में आये। ये अत्यंत पावन तीर्थस्थान कहलाते हैं। ये तीर्थ पूरे भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में फैले हुए हैं।

अमरनाथ की गुफा लगभग 60 फुट लंबी 28 फुट चौड़ी है। इसकी ऊँचाई 15 फुट है। यह आयताकार गुफा है।

अमरनाथ यात्रा

जम्मू कश्मीर राज्य में स्थित अमरनाथ बहुत पवित्र तीर्थस्थल है। श्रीनगर से 140 किलोमीटर उत्तर-पूर्व, समुद्रतल से 13600 फुट की ऊँचाई पर स्थित अमरनाथ की यात्रा दुरूह है। इस गुफा में भक्तों को विभूति का प्रसाद दिया जाता है। यह गुफा मात्र कुछ दिनों के लिए, आषाढ़ से श्रावण-  पूर्णिमा तक ही खुलती है। अमरनाथ गुफा पहुँचने के दो मार्ग हैं-एक मार्ग श्रीनगर से 70 किलोमीटर दूर बालताल होकर जाता है। यह मार्ग पैदल चलने की दृष्टि से छोटा ज़रूर है, पर काफ़ी खतरनाक है, क्योंकि बरसात के कारण ख़तरा बढ़ जाता है। दूसरा मार्ग पहलगाम से शुरू होता है, जो चंदनबाड़ी, शेषनाग, पंचतरणी होकर जाता है। ज्यादातर यात्री इसी मार्ग को अपनाते हैं। जम्मू से पहलगाम तक 12 घण्टे बस की यात्रा तथा रात्रिविश्राम पहलगाम में करके, फिर यात्रा प्रारम्भ होती है। पहला पड़ाव 14 किलोमीटर दूर चन्दनबाड़ी में होता है। यह दूरी पैदल या मिनी बस से की जा सकती है। 9500 फुट की ऊँचाई पर स्थित चंदनबाड़ी में सर्द हवा तथा ठण्ड लगने लगती है। यहाँ पर यात्रा के लिए नुकीली छड़ियाँ ख़रीद ली जाती हैं, क्योंकि यहाँ से पदयात्रा प्रारंभ होती है। लगभग 32 किलोमीटर सीधी यात्रा तथा चढ़ाई वाली मार्ग होने से काफ़ी कठिन लगती है।

According to the Puranas, wherever the pieces of Sati's body parts, clothes or ornaments worn by her fell, Shaktipeeths came into existence there. They are called the most sacred shrines. These pilgrimages are spread all over the Indian subcontinent.

The cave of Amarnath is about 60 feet long by 28 feet wide. Its height is 15 feet. It is a rectangular cave.

Pilgrimage to Amarnaath

Amarnath is a very holy pilgrimage site located in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The journey to Amarnath, located 140 km north-east of Srinagar, at an altitude of 13,600 feet above sea level, is an arduous one. Vibhuti's offerings are given to the devotees in this cave. This cave is open only for a few days, from Ashadha to Shravan- Poornima. There are two routes to reach Amarnath Cave - one route goes through Baltal, 70 km from Srinagar. This route is short from the point of view of walking, but it is quite dangerous, as the danger increases due to rain. The second route starts from Pahalgam, which goes through Chandanbari, Sheshnag, Panchtarni. Most of the travelers take this route. After 12 hours bus journey from Jammu to Pahalgam and overnight stay in Pahalgam, then the journey starts. The first stop is at Chandanbadi, 14 km away. This distance can be covered on foot or by mini bus. Situated at an altitude of 9500 feet, Chandanbadi experiences cold air and cold. Pointed sticks are bought for the journey here, because the padyatra starts from here. Due to the direct journey of about 32 km and the climbing route, it seems quite difficult.
