घड़े (बर्तन) में बुद्धि ~ Ghade me Buddhi

एक दिन श्रीलंका के राजा का दूत बादशाह अकबर के दरबार में उपस्थित हुआ। बादशाह का अभिवादन करके वह बोला, "महाबली! हमारे महाराज को पता चला है कि आपके दरबार में एक से बढ़कर एक बुद्धिमान लोग हैं। उनका आग्रह है कि आप एक घड़ा बुद्धि उनके लिए भी भेज दें।"

श्रीलंका के महाराज का अनुग्रह सुनकर वहां मौजूद सभी दरबारी हक्के बक्के रह गए और एक दूसरे को देखने लगे। वे समझ गए कि श्रीलंका के राजा ने इसप्रकार का आग्रह करके उनकी होशियारी का इम्तिहान लेने की कोशिश की है। लेकिन उन्हें इसका कोई जवाब नहीं सूझ रहा था। एक दरबारी ने तो खड़ा होकर बोल भी दिया- "बादशाह सलामत! यह प्रार्थना पूरी कर पाना संभव नहीं है। भला यह कैसे हो सकता है कि बुद्धि को घड़े में भरकर भेजा जाए।"

तभी बीरबल खड़े होकर बोले, "मैं श्रीलंका के महाराज की इच्छा पूरी कर सकता हूं, परंतु इसके लिए मुझे एक हफ्ते का वक्त चाहिए। बादशाह ने दूत से कहा, "आप एक सप्ताह का समय दीजिए और हमारे मेहमानखाने में रहिए। तब तक बुद्धि को घड़े में भरने का काम पूरा हो जाएगा।"

दूत ने कहा कि मैं एक हफ्ता तक मेहमानखाने में रहने को तैयार हूं। मुझे कोई दिक्कत नहीं है और वह मन ही मन यह सोच रहा था कि बुद्धि को घड़े में भर देना किसी के लिए भी संभव नहीं है। उसने बादशाह अकबर का प्रस्ताव स्वीकार कर लिया।

उधर बीरबल ने घर पहुंच कर अपने नौकर से बाजार जाकर कुछ छोटे मुंह वाले घड़े लाने को कहा। नौकर तुरंत बाजार गया और एक दर्जन छोटे मुंह वाला घड़ा लेकर लौट आया। बीरबल घड़ों को लेकर अपने बगीचे में गए, जहां बहुत से कद्दू लगाए हुए थे। उन्होंने कुछ कद्दू को घड़ों में स्थापित कर दिया। उन्होंने नौकर को आदेश दिया कि उनके कहने तक उन घड़ों को वहां से हटाया ना जाए।

एक हफ्ते बाद बीरबल बगीचे में उनको देखने के लिए पहुंचे। उन्होंने देखा कि कद्दू उन घड़ों के अंदर पूरी तरह उग चुके हैं। उन्होंने नौकरों को कद्दू से भरा हुआ घड़ा बड़ी सावधानी से वहां से ले चलने का हुक्म दिया। थोड़ी ही देर में वे नौकर को साथ लिए हुए दरबार में उपस्थित हुए।

बीरबल के साथ घड़ा देखकर बादशाह के चेहरे पर मुस्कुराहट तैरने लगी और वह समझ गए कि बीरबल ने लंका के राजा की योजना निष्फल करने का कोई ना कोई व्यवस्था कर ही लिया है। उन्होंने तुरंत एक नौकर को श्रीलंका के दूत को बुलाने के लिए भेज दिया। थोड़ी ही देर में श्रीलंका का दूत दरबार में उपस्थित हुआ। बीरबल को घड़े के साथ वहां मौजूद देखकर वह भौचक्का रह गया। उसने सपने में भी नहीं सोचा था कि बीरबल उसकी चुनौती को इतनी आसानी से पूरा कर देंगे। फिर बीरबल दूत को घड़ा देते हुए बोले - "मैं आपको मुगल दरबार की ओर से बुद्धि से भरा घड़ा दे रहा हूं।" 

आप सोच रहे होंगे कि हमने इस घड़े में बुद्धि कैसे डाला? मैं आपको बताना चाहता हूं कि हम बुद्धि को बहुत ही कीमती समझते हैं। अतः इसे घड़ों में छिपाकर रखते हैं। हम श्रीलंका के महाराज को अपना मित्र समझते हैं और इसी कारण हम इतनी बहुमूल्य वस्तु उन्हें उपहार स्वरूप भेंट कर रहे हैं।

बुद्धि को घड़े से निकालते समय इस बात का ध्यान अवश्य रखिएगा कि उसे इस घड़े में से इतनी सावधानी से निकालना है कि उसे अथवा इस घड़े को किसी भी किस्म का कोई नुकसान ना हो। अगर आपने बिना घड़े को तोड़े फोड़े बुद्धि निकाल ली तो समझ लीजिएगा कि आप बुद्धिमान हो गए हैं। 

दूत को दिया गया घड़ा कपड़े से ढका हुआ था। कपड़ा हटाने पर दूत ने उसमें कद्दू पाया, तो वह हैरान रह गया कि उस घड़े में कद्दू डाला कैसे गया होगा? उसने वहां से चुपचाप निकल जाने में ही अपनी भलाई समझी। वह जल्दी से बादशाह का अभिवादन करके वहां से चल पड़ा।

जब बादशाह अकबर ने घड़े में रखी बुद्धि के बारे में बीरबल से जानना चाहा तो बीरबल ने अपने घर से एक और घड़ा मंगवा लिया और सारा वाकया कह सुनाया। जब महाराज ने उसके अंदर रखे कद्दू को देखा तो हंसते -हंसते लोटपोट हो गए और बोले श्रीलंका का राजा अब जीवन में कभी भी बुद्धि के घड़े की मांग नहीं करेगा।

Wisdom in pitcher

One day the messenger of the King of Sri Lanka appeared in the court of Emperor Akbar. Greeting the emperor, he said, "Mahabali! Our Maharaj has come to know that there are more intelligent people in your court than one. He urges you to send a pot of wisdom to him as well."

Hearing the grace of the King of Sri Lanka, all the courtiers there were stunned and started seeing each other. They understood that the King of Sri Lanka has tried to test their intelligence by urging this type. But he could not think of any answer to this. A courtier even stood up and said - "King Salamat! It is not possible to fulfill this prayer. How can it be possible that wisdom is sent in a pot."

Then Birbal stood up and said, "I can fulfill the wish of the Maharaja of Sri Lanka, but for this I need a week's time. The king said to the messenger," Give me a week's time and stay in our hospitality. By then, the work of filling the intellect in the pitcher will be complete.

The messenger said that I am ready to stay in the guest house for one week. I have no problem and that mind was thinking that it is not possible for anyone to fill the intellect in the pitcher. He accepted the proposal of Emperor Akbar.

On the other hand, Birbal reached home and asked his servant to go to the market and bring some small-faced pitcher. The servant immediately went to the market and returned with a pitcher with a dozen small mouths. Birbal took the pitches to his garden, where many pumpkins were planted. They installed some pumpkins in the pitches. He ordered the servant not to remove those pots until he asked.

A week later Birbal arrived in the garden to see them. He saw that the pumpkins had grown completely inside those pots. He ordered the servants to take the pitcher full of pumpkin very carefully from there. In a short while, he attended the court with the servant.

Seeing the pitcher with Birbal, a smile floated on the king's face and he realized that Birbal had already made some arrangement to nullify the plan of the king of Lanka. He immediately dispatched a servant to summon the Sri Lankan envoy. The Sri Lankan envoy appeared in the court in a short time. He was shocked to see Birbal present there with the pitcher. He did not even think in the dream that Birbal would complete his challenge so easily. Then, while giving the pot to the Birbal messenger, he said - "I am giving you a pitcher full of wisdom from the Mughal court."

You must be wondering how we put wisdom in this pitcher? I want to tell you that we consider intelligence very valuable. So, keep it hidden in the pitcher. We consider the King of Sri Lanka as our friend and that is why we are offering such a valuable item to him as a gift.

While removing the intellect from the pitcher, keep in mind that it has to be removed from this pitcher so carefully that it does not cause any harm to him or this pitcher. If you have broken the pot without breaking the pitcher, then you will understand that you have become intelligent.

The pot given to the messenger was covered with cloth. After removing the cloth, the messenger found a pumpkin in it, so he was surprised how the pumpkin would have been put in that pitcher. He realized his goodness only when he left quietly there. He hurried away to greet the emperor and left.

When Emperor Akbar wanted to know from Birbal about the wisdom kept in the pitcher, Birbal got another pot from his house and narrated the whole incident. When Maharaj saw the pumpkin inside it, he laughed and laughed and said that the King of Sri Lanka would never ask for a pot of wisdom in life.
