इजराइली खोजकर्ताओं ने दुनिया की सबसे लंबी नमक की गुफा खोज निकाली है। अब तक दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी 'नमक की गुफा' ईरान की 3N गुफा कहलाई जाती थी, जो वहां के केशम आईलैंड के दक्षिणी हिस्से में थी। लेकिन अब एक और नई गुफा इजराइल में खोजी गई है। इजरायल में 9 देशों के 88 खोजकर्ताओं ने दुनिया की सबसे लंबी नमक की गुफा खोज निकाली है।यह 10किमी(6.2मील) लंबी गुफा मृत सागर के पास "माउंट सोडोम" के पहाड़ों से होकर जाती है। 28 मार्च 2019 को यरूशलम के हिब्रू यूनिवर्सिटी के खोजकर्ताओं ने सबसे लंबी नमक की गुफा खोजने की जानकारी दी। यूनिवर्सिटी ने बयान जारी कर कहा कि "माउंट सोडोम "इजराइल का सबसे लंबा पहाड़ है और माउंट सोडोम से होकर जाती हुई इस गुफा की लंबाई 10 किलोमीटर से ज्यादा है। यहां मिली गुफा का नाम माल्हम (malham cave) है। यह मृत सागर के दक्षिण पश्चिम कोने तक फैली है।

हिब्रू विश्वविद्यालय के केव रिसर्च सेंटर के संस्थापक और निदेशक अमोस फ्रुमकिन ने बताया कि पहले 1980 में हमने इस गुफा को 5 किलोमीटर तक मापा था। लेकिन इसके बाद 2006 में दक्षिणी ईरान के केशव आईलैंड में  खोजकर्ताओं ने 6 किलोमीटर से ज्यादा लंबी N-3 गुफा की माप करके दुनिया का सबसे बड़ी नमक की गुफा के रूप में पहचान दिलाई।

इजराइली खोजकर्ता योव नेगेव ने आमोस फ्रुमकिन के अधूरे काम को पूरा करने का फैसला किया।इजराइली गुफा खोजकर्ता क्लब के संस्थापक नेगेव और बुल्गारिया के सोफिया स्पेलियों क्लब ने 9 देशों के 88 खोजकर्ताओं व स्थानीय लोगों के साथ 10 दिनों में गुफा का मैपिंग किया। नेगेव ने कहा कि मैंने अब तक जितनी भी गुफाएं देखी हैं उनमें यह सबसे सुंदर है। इसमें कई गलियारे और छोटी गुफाएं हैं जो पहाड़ी मैदान तक पहुंचते हैं।

खोजकर्ताओं ने पाया कि नमक की इस गुफा की लंबाई ईरान में पाई गई गुफा से भी जाता है। खोजकर्ताओं के दल ने इस गुफा की लंबाई 10 किलोमीटर से ज्यादा बताई जिसके साथ ही सबसे लंबी नमक की गुफा होने का रिकॉर्ड ईरान के हाथ से जाता रहा।

नमक की गुफा की खासियत है कि इसकी छत से नमक के बड़े बड़े टुकड़े लटके हुए हैं। यह टुकड़े किसी धातु की तरह चमकते हैं,और अक्सर इनसे बूंदों के रूप में खारा पानी टपकता रहता है। जंगल में बारिश के दौरान नमक दीवारों की दरारों से रिसकर छोटी-छोटी गुफाओं के आकार में ढलता है, और वह आकर मृत सागर के पास पहुंच जाता है। फ्रम्किन जिस दौरान नक्शा तैयार कर रहे थे, उस समय भी गुफाओं के आकार में बदलाव हो रहा था।

The World's Longest Salt Cave in Mount Sodome, Israel

 Israeli explorers have discovered the world's longest salt cave. Till now, the world's largest 'salt cave' was called Iran's 3N cave which was in the southern part of Kesham Island. But now another new cave has been discovered in Israel. In Israel, 88 explorers from 9 countries have discovered the world's longest salt cave. This 10 km (6.2 mi) long cave passes through the mountains of "Mount Sodom" near the Dead Sea. On 28 March 2019, searchers from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem reported finding the longest salt cave. The university issued a statement saying that Mount Sodom is the tallest mountain in Israel and the length of this cave, passing through Mount Sodome, is more than 10 kilometers. The cave found here is named Malham cave. It extends to the southwest corner of the Dead Sea.

 Amos Frumkin, founder and director of the Kew Research Center at the Hebrew University, said that earlier in 1980 we measured this cave up to 5 kilometers. But then in 2006, researchers in Keshav Island in southern Iran measured the N-3 cave over 6 kilometers long and identified it as the world's largest salt cave.

 Israeli explorer Yov Negev decided to complete the unfinished work of Amos Frumkin. Negev, founder of the Israeli Cave Explorers Club and Sofia Spelians Club of Bulgaria, mapped the cave in 10 days with 88 explorers and locals from 9 countries. Negev said that it is the most beautiful of all the caves I have seen so far. It has many corridors and small caves leading up to the hill plain.

 The explorers found that the length of this salt cave also goes from the cave found in Iran. The team of explorers gave the length of this cave more than 10 kilometers, with which the record of being the longest salt cave kept going from Iran's hand.

 The specialty of a salt cave is that large pieces of salt are hanging from its roof. These pieces shine like a metal, and often drip saline water in the form of drops. During the rains in the forest, the salt seeps through the cracks of the walls and forms into the shape of small caves, and it reaches the Dead Sea. The shape of the caves was also changing during the time that Framkin was preparing the map.
