केरल में भगवान शिव की देश की सबसे ऊंची प्रतिमा वाला अझिमाला मंदिर (Azhimala Shiv Temple) लोगों के लिए 2 जनवरी 2021 को खोल दिया गया है। अझिमाला मंदिर कोल्लम के निकट समुद्र से 20 फीट की ऊंचाई पर अझिमाला बीच (Azhimala Bitch) के चट्टान बनाया गया है। गंगधारेश्वर के रूप में भगवान शिव की 58 फीट ऊंची मूर्ति का निर्माण 6 साल पहले शुरू हुआ था। इस मूर्ति के निर्माण के पीछे 29 वर्षीय पी. यस. देवदाथन का परिश्रम है, जिन्होंने 23 वर्ष की उम्र में ही फाइन आर्ट्स की पढ़ाई करते हुए मूर्ति निर्माण का कार्य शुरू किया था।

एक वैभवशाली गौरव के रूप में, 58 फीट ऊंची शिव की प्रतिमा, जिसमें भगवान शिव को मां गंगे के रूद्र वेग को अपनी जटाओं में रोकते हुए दर्शाया गया है।मूर्तिकार अपनी उस कल्पना को मूर्त रूप देने में सफल हैं, जिसमें गंगा मां को धारण करने के लिए भगवान शिव अपनी जटाओं को बिखेरते हैं।

 केरल की सुंदर, मनोहर प्रकृति, कभी शांत और कभी अशांत समुद्र, मृदुल स्वभाव के मछुआरे, तथा श्रद्धेय शिवजी का मंदिर, अब पर्यटकों की भीड़ के लिए मेजबान है।

  देवदाथन ने बताया कि "यह मूर्ति समुद्र के किनारे बन रही थी, इसलिए निर्माण को पानी तथा खारेपन के प्रति प्रतिरोधी बनाने का खास ध्यान रखा गया। सीमेंट के साथ कुछ ऐसे कैमिकल मिलाए गए जो खारे पानी को झेल सकें। इसके लिए ड्राइंग तथा 3D इमेज बनाने के बाद शोध किया गया । चुंकी यह मूर्ति पत्थर से बना है, इसलिए पत्थर का घनत्व और हवा के भार की भी जांच की गई"।

देवदाथन बताते हैं कि ,"यह जगह बहुत खूबसूरत है और मुझे बहुत प्रभावित किया, इसलिए मैंने सोचा कि इसे और खूबसूरत कैसे बनाया जाए। मैंने कल्पना किया और इस डिजाइन को तैयार किया। मैंने सभी तत्वों और उनके कार्यों पर लगभग 3 से 8 महीने तक अध्ययन किया। क्योंकि मैं यही का रहने वाला हूं इसलिए यहां की प्राकृतिक संरचना से भी अवगत था और और कई बार मौसम का मिजाज जाने के लिए मछुआरों की भी मदद ली।मैंने इन सब तथ्यों के अनुरूप काम किया"।

29 वर्षीय देवदाथन बताते हैं कि "चुंकी यह धार्मिक संरचना थी, इसलिए इसकी कई सारी सीमाएं भी थीं। लोगों के मन में शिव का रूप बैठा हुआ है और हम इसमें बदलाव नहीं कर सकते थे। एक दृश्य का प्रभाव शब्दों से अधिक होता है। दर्शन और भावना के बीच एक संबंध होता है। मैंने पर्यटकों के मन में श्रद्धा, विश्वास और सकारात्मक सोच लाने की कोशिश की है"।

देवदाथन आगे बताते हैं कि "गंगाधारेश्वर शिव कि यह तस्वीर समृद्धि का प्रतीक है, और बहुत ऊर्जावान है। जब मैंने इसके बाल बनाए तो इसे लयबद्ध करने की कोशिश की। अधिकांश मूर्तियों के विपरीत भगवान शिव के ललाट और चेहरे के भाव को आसमान की तरफ देखते हुए बनाना था और मैंने इस मूर्ति कला में सभी भावनाओं को लाने की कोशिश की है।नसों और मांसपेशियों को नाजुक रूप से उकेरा गया है।देवताथन कहते हैं कि कोई भी इस 58 फुट ऊंची मूर्ति कला की आभा को नहीं हरा सकता है।हालांकि, अभी और काम किया जाना है भगवान शिव का (वाहन) नंदी को उनके प्रतिमा के बगल में स्थापित किया जाएगा।इसके साथ ही प्रतिमा के नीचे 3500 वर्ग फुट का चबूतरा है, जिसमें एझिमाला शिव मंदिर का इतिहास का वर्णन होगा। पूरा प्रोजेक्ट का उद्घाटन कुछ महीनों के भीतर होगा।

मंदिर समिति के महासचिव एस विजेश ने कहा -"मुख्य पुजारी ज्योतिष पोट्टी ने अजीमुगम मंदिर में गंगाधारेश्वर मंदिर के निर्माण का सुझाव दिया है। तब मंदिर प्रशासन समिति के सहयोग से 2 अप्रैल 2014 को निर्माण कार्य शुरू हुआ, और अब यह 2020 में निर्माण कार्य पूरा हो गया और जनता के लिए खोल दिया गया है।

 Devadathan explains that, "This place is very beautiful and impressed me a lot, so I thought how to make it more beautiful. I imagined and designed this design. I spent about 3 to 8 months on all the elements and their works. Studied till. Because I am a resident of this, so I was also aware of the natural structure here and also took the help of fishermen to get the weather mood at times. I worked according to all these facts ".

 Devadathan, 29, explains that "Chunki was a religious structure, so it had many limitations. People have the form of Shiva in their minds and we could not change it.  Devadathan further states that "This picture of Gangadhareshwar Shiva symbolizes prosperity, and is very energetic. I tried to make it rhythmic when I made its hair. Unlike most idols, Lord Shiva's forehead and facial expressions are skyward. Seeing was to be made and I have tried to bring all the emotions to this sculpture. Tens and muscles are delicately engraved. Devothan says that no one can beat the aura of this 58-foot high sculpture.
