अमेजन नदी (Amazon River)

 साउथ अमेरिका की अमेजॉन नदी दुनिया की दूसरी सबसे बड़ी नदी है। अमेजॉन नदी  को जैव विविधता का केंद्र माना जाता है, क्योंकि यहां बड़ी संख्या में जीव - जंतु और वनस्पतियां पाई जाती हैं। अमेजॉन नदी के घने जंगल धरती के पर्यावरण को संतुलित रखने में अहम् भूमिका निभाते हैं, यही कारण है कि इसे "धरती का फेफड़ा" कहा जाता है। 

प्रकृति का अनोखा रूप

साउथ अमेरिका में अमेजॉन नदी के करीब प्रकृति प्रेमियों को ज्यादा मजा आता है। धरती का दिल कहे जाने वाली अमेजॉन नदी पर सबसे बड़े वर्षावन हैं। यह वन काफी घने हैं और पृथ्वी के पर्यावरण संतुलन के लिए खास भूमिका अदा करते हैं।

भूमिगत नदी (अमेजॉन नदी के नीचे एक और नदी)

ब्राजील के वैज्ञानिकों ने अमेजॉन नदी के सतह के लगभग 13000 फुट की गहराई पर एक और विशाल जलधारा का पता लगाया है। भारतीय मूल के भूगर्भ वैज्ञानिक डॉक्टर वलिया हमजा की अगुवाई में खोजी गई इस नदी का नाम उन्हीं के नाम पर "हमजा" रखा गया है।डॉक्टर हमजा ने बताया कि सरकारी तेल कंपनी 'पेट्रोब्रास' ने 1970 के दशक में इस क्षेत्र में 242 कुएं खोदे थे जिनके तापमान में काफी अंतर था। इसी के आधार पर वैज्ञानिकों ने क्षेत्र की जांच की, जिसमें अमेजॉन नदी के ठीक नीचे विशाल जलधारा का पता चला जो अनुमानतः अमेजॉन नदी के बराबर ही लंबा है।ऐसा माना जा रहा है कि इस भूमिगत नदी के कारण ही अमेजन नदी के मुहाने पर पानी अपेक्षाकृत रूप से थोड़ा कम खारा है, अभी और विस्तृत खोज वैज्ञानिकों के द्वारा की जा रही है।

 झीलों की खूबसूरती

अमेजॉन नदी करीब लाखों वर्ष पहले एक विपरीत दिशा में प्रशांत महासागर की ओर बहा करती थी लेकिन अब यह नदी अटलांटिक महासागर में मिलती है। इसमें आज बड़ी संख्या में झीलें बन चुकी हैं इन झीलों के किनारे शाम के समय वक्त बिताने का एक अलग ही मजा है।

नदी के किनारे पर कई देश

अमेजॉन नदी लगभग 6400 से 7000 किलोमीटर लंबी है। इस नदी के किनारे पर ब्राजील, गयाना, फ्रेंच गयाना, बोलीविया, पेरू, इक्वेडोर, कोलंबिया, वेनेजुएला और सूरीनाम जैसे देश बसे हैं। इसलिए इस नदी की यात्रा में इसके स्थित किनारों पर अलग-अलग देश के लोग मिलते हैं।

नाव से रोमांचक यात्रा

अमेजॉन नदी की यात्रा बहुत ही आकर्षक लगती है, क्योंकि इस नदी में पुल ना होने से नाव का ही सहारा होता है। हालांकि अमेजॉन की सहायक करीब 1100 नदियों में शामिल रिओनीग्रो पर 2010 में एक पुल का निर्माण हुआ है, यह सहायक नदी पर बना पहला पुल है।

डॉल्फिन का घर अमेजॉन

अमेजॉन नदी को डॉल्फिन का घर भी कहा जाता है। डॉल्फिन इस नदी को गुलाबी रंग वाली छवि प्रदान करती हैं। यहां डॉल्फिन जैसी विभिन्न प्रजातियों के जीव पर्यटकों को अपनी ओर आकर्षित करते हैं।

पानी काफी स्वादिष्ट

अमेजॉन नदी का पानी काफी स्वादिष्ट है। दुनिया के समुद्रों में जितना मीठा पानी आता है उसमें अमेजॉन का योगदान 20% है।

एनाकोंडा

दुनिया का सबसे बड़ा सांप एनाकोंडा अमेजॉन नदी में ही रहता है। एनाकोंडा अक्सर बड़े जानवरों जैसे कि बकरी समेत मनुष्य को भी निगल जाता है। 

जनजातियां

अमेजॉन नदी के वर्षा वनों में लगभग 400 से 500 जनजातियों के लोग रहते हैं, जो कि दक्षिणी अमेरिका के मूल निवासी हैं।माना जाता है कि इनमें से लगभग 50 जनजातियों के लोग ऐसे हैं जो कभी भी बाहरी लोगों के संपर्क में नहीं आए हैं।

 उद्गम स्थान 

ज्यादातर नदियों की तरह अमेजॉन नदी के उद्गम स्थान को लेकर मतभेद पाए गए हैं। अलग-अलग खोज में इस नदी के भी शुरुआती स्थान को अलग-अलग बताया गया है।

        इंग्लिश विकिपीडिया के अनुसार इस नदी का शुरुआत स्थान पेरू देश में स्थित रियो मेंनटारो नदी को माना गया है।
