देवाधिदेव महादेव के ज्योतिर्लिंगों में से एक रावणेश्वर महादेव, बैद्यनाथ धाम (देवघर, झारखंड) है। इस ज्योतिर्लिंग की कुछ विशिष्टताएँ हैं।

सामान्यतः शिव मन्दिरों के शिखर पर कलश और त्रिशूल लगा होता है, किन्तु बैद्यनाथ धाम मन्दिर विश्व का इकलौता मन्दिर है, जिसके ऊपर त्रिशूल नहीं "पञ्चशूल" स्थापित है, इसीलिए इस शिव मन्दिर का महत्व अन्य से विशिष्ट है।

ऐसी मान्यता है जिस प्रकार काशी शिव के त्रिशूल पर टिका हुआ है और बाबा विश्वनाथ काशी की सुरक्षा स्वयं करते हैं उसी प्रकार बैद्यनाथ धाम पञ्चशूल पर टिका हुआ है और इसकी सुरक्षा बाबा रावणेश्वर करते हैं। ये पञ्चशूल सम्पूर्ण देवघर नगर का सुरक्षा कवच है।

पञ्चशूल दर्शन का महत्व शिवलिङ्ग स्पर्श के समतुल्य माना जाता है। यह पञ्चशूल विश्व गौरव है।

बाबा बैद्यनाथ मन्दिर का स्वर्ण कलश व पञ्चशूल भगवान शिव के पञ्चरूप रुद्रावतार हैं। यह लगभग २०७५ वर्ष पुरातन मन्दिर माना जाता है। इस पञ्चशूल को प्रतिवर्ष एक बार शिवरात्रि में नीचे उतार कर लाया जाता है और पञ्चशूल का विधि विधान से पूजन अर्चन, अभिषेक विशेष प्रक्रिया से किया जाता है। पूजन के उपरांत पञ्चशूल को पुनः स्थापित कर दिया जाता है।

One of the Jyotirlingas of Devadhidev Mahadev is Ravneshwar Mahadev, Baidyanath Dham (Devghar, Jharkhand). This Jyotirlinga has some specialties.

Generally, Kalash and Trishul are installed on the top of Shiva temples, but Baidyanath Dham Temple is the only temple in the world, on which "Panchshul" is installed instead of Trishul, that is why the importance of this Shiva temple is special from others.

It is believed that just as Kashi rests on Shiva's Trishul and Baba Vishwanath himself protects Kashi, similarly Baidyanath Dham rests on Panchshul and Baba Ravaneshwar protects it. This Panchshool is the protective shield of the entire Deoghar city.

The importance of Panchshool Darshan is considered equivalent to touching Shivalinga. This Panchshool is world pride.

The golden Kalash and Panchshul of Baba Baidyanath Temple are the five forms of Rudravatar of Lord Shiva. This temple is considered to be about 2075 years old. This Panchshool is brought down once every year during Shivratri and Panchshool is worshiped with rituals and a special process called Abhishek. After the worship, Panchshool is reinstalled.
