 सांपों का गांव

आइये आज आपको साँपों के गाँव की शैर कराते हैं। अगर मैं कहूं कि अपने देश में ऐसा भी एक गांव है जहां किंग कोबरा जैसे जहरीले सांप भी ऐसे घूमते हैं जैसे बच्चे, तो आप सोचोगे कि शायद  मुझे कुछ हो गया है, जो अनाप-शनाप बातें कर रही हूं, पर यह जानकर मुझे भी बहुत हैरानी हुई कियह बिल्कुल सच है।

भारत में प्राचीन काल से ही विभिन्न जीव-जंतुओं की पूजा करने की परंपरा रही है। इनमें सांप भी आते हैं, जिन्हें भगवान शिव धारण करते हैं। भले ही सांप को पूजा जाता है पर इन्हें देखकर डर भी लगता हैं।

सांप का नाम आते ही हम लोगों के जहां रोंगटे खड़े हो जाते हैं वहीं महाराष्ट्र के सोलापुर जिले के शेतफल (shetphal) गांव के लोग सांपों को पालते हैं। सही पढ़ा आपने जैसे हम घर में कुत्ता, बिल्ली या कोई और जानवर पालते हैं, ठीक उसी तरह शेतफल गांव में कोबरा सांप पाले जाते हैं। साधारणतया भारत के अन्य गांव के जैसा यह शेतफल गांव भी है। यहां का रहन-सहन भी साधारण है, पर वर्षों से चली आ रही यहां सांप पालने की परंपरा इस गांव को अनोखा बना देती है।

* शेतफल गांव की सबसे खास बात यह है कि यहां हर घर में सांप पाए जाते हैं, वह भी कोबरा प्रजाति के।

* दरअसल इस गांव में सांपों की पूजा की जाती है, यहां सांपों के कई मंदिर भी मौजूद हैं।

* शेतफल गांव में किसी भी सांप को मारा नहीं जाता है, शायद इसलिए गांव वाले कहते हैं कि अब तक किसी भी सांप ने किसी को काटा नहीं है या आज तक सांप के काटने से किसी की मृत्यु नहीं हुई है।

* यहां स्कूल कॉलेज के अलावा पब्लिक प्लेस पर भी साथ घूमते हुए नजर आएंगे।

* शेतफल गांव में मकान कच्चा हो या पक्का हर घर में सांपों के रहने के लिए जगह बनाई जाती है।

* यहां अधिकतर घर कच्चे हैं, लेकिन घर की छत में छेद कर सांप के बैठने के लिए जगह अवश्य बनाया जाता है।

* सांपों के रहने की इस जगह को लोग यहां 'देवस्थान' कहते हैं।

* शेतफल गांव में सांप एक घर से दूसरे घर में मेहमान की तरह घूमते नजर आते हैं। बच्चे भी सांप के साथ घूमते रहते हैं। इस अजीब गांव को देखने के लिए देशभर से लोग यहां आते हैं।

* बरसात के दिनों में यहां काफी संख्या में सांप देखने को मिलते हैं , सांप शर्मीले स्वभाव के होते हैं और बारिश के दिनों में अपने बिलों से बाहर निकलते हैं।

Snake village

 Come, let us take you to the snake village today.  If I say that there is such a village in my country where even poisonous snakes like King Cobra roam like children, then you would think that maybe I have something, which is talking nonsense, but knowing me too  This is very surprising.

 There has been a tradition of worshiping various animals in India since ancient times.  Snakes are also included in these, which are worn by Lord Shiva.  Even though snakes are worshiped, they are scared to see them.

 As soon as the name of snake comes, we stand there in the shade, while people of Shetphal village of Solapur district of Maharashtra raise snakes.  You read right, just like we keep a dog, cat or any other animal in the house, in the same way cobra snakes are bred in Shetphal village.  Generally, it is a village of Shetphal like other villages in India.  Living here is also simple, but the tradition of snake breeding here for years makes this village unique.

 * The most special thing in Shetafal village is that snakes are found in every house here, that also of the cobra species.

 * Actually snakes are worshiped in this village, many temples of snakes are also present here.

 * No snakes are killed in Shetphal village, probably because the villagers say that no snake has bitten anyone or no one has died due to snake bite till date.

 * Apart from the college here, the school will also be seen roaming along at the public place.

 * In Shetfal village, houses are raw or in every house, there is a place for snakes to live.

 * Most of the houses here are rough, but holes are made in the roof of the house to make a place for the snake to sit.

 * People call this place of snakes 'Devasthan' here.

 * In Shetphal village, snakes are seen moving from one house to another like guests.  Children also roam with snakes.  People from all over the country come here to see this strange village.

 * During the rainy days a large number of snakes are seen here, snakes are of shy nature and come out of their bills during the rainy days.
