कौन है असली मां 

एक बार शहंशाह अकबर के दरबार में बहुत ही अजीब मुकदमा आया, जिसने सभी को सोचने पर मजबूर कर दिया।  हुआ यूं की अकबर के दरबार में दो महिलाएं रोते हुए पहुंची। उनके साथ में लगभग 2 या 3 साल का सुंदर सा बच्चा भी था। दोनों महिलाएं लगातार रो रही थी और साथ ही दावा कर रही थी कि बच्चा उनका है। 

अब समस्या यह थी कि दोनों शहर के बाहर रहती थीं, जिस कारण उन्हें कोई नहीं जानता था। इसलिए यह बताना मुश्किल था कि उस नन्हे बच्चे की असली मां कौन है। तब अकबर बादशाह के सामने मुसीबत आ गई कि न्याय कैसे करें और बच्चा किसको दें?

 इस बारे में उन्होंने एक-एक करके सभी दरबारियों की राय ली, लेकिन कोई भी इस गुत्थी को नहीं सुलझा सका और तभी बीरबल दरबार में पहुंचे। बीरबल को देखकर बादशाह अकबर की आंखों में मानो चमक आ गई। बीरबल के आते ही अकबर ने इस समस्या के बारे में उन्हें बताया। अकबर ने बीरबल से कहा कि "अब तुम ही इस समस्या का समाधान करो।" 

अकबर कुछ सोचते रहे और फिर जल्लाद को बुलाने के लिए कहा। 

जल्लाद के आते ही बीरबल ने बच्चे को एक जगह बैठा दिया और कहा एक काम करते हैं। इस बच्चे के दो टुकड़े कर देते हैं। एक - एक टुकड़ा दोनों मां को दे देंगे। अगर इन दोनों महिलाओं में से किसी एक को यह बात मंजूर नहीं है, तो जल्लाद उस महिला के दो टुकड़े कर देगा। 

यह सुनकर उनमें से एक महिला बच्चे के टुकड़े करने की बात मान गई और बोली कि उसे यह आदेश मंजूर है। वह बच्चे के टुकड़े को लेकर चली जाएगी। लेकिन दूसरी महिला बिलख - बिलख कर रोने लगी और बोली मुझे बच्चा नहीं चाहिए। मेरे दो टुकड़े कर दो, लेकिन बच्चे को मत काटो। यह बच्चा दूसरी महिला को दे दो। 

यह देखकर सभी दरबारी मानने लगे कि जो महिला डर की वजह से रो रही है, वही दोषी है। लेकिन तभी बीरबल ने कहा कि जो महिला बच्चे के टुकड़े करने के लिए तैयार है, उसे कैद कर दो। वही मुजरिम है। इस बात को सुनकर वह महिला रोने लगी और माफी मांगने लगी। लेकिन बादशाह अकबर ने उसे जेल में डलवा दिया। 

फिर अकबर ने बीरबल से पूछा कि तुमको कैसे पता चला कि असली मां कौन है? तब बीरबल ने मुस्कुराते हुए कहा "महाराज! मां सारी मुसीबतों को अपने सिर पर ले लेती है, लेकिन बच्चे पर आंच नहीं आने देती और यही हुआ।इससे पता चल जाता है कि असली मां वह है, जो खुद के टुकड़े करवाने के लिए तैयार है, लेकिन बच्चे के नहीं।" 

बीरबल की बात सुनकर बादशाह अकबर एक बार फिर बीरबल की बुद्धि का लोहा मान गए।

 He took the opinion of all the courtiers one by one about this, but no one could solve this knot and then Birbal reached the court. Looking at Birbal, Emperor Akbar's eyes shone as if. As soon as Birbal arrived, Akbar told him about this problem. Akbar told Birbal that "now you solve this problem."

Akbar kept thinking and then asked to call the executioner.

As soon as the executioner arrived, Birbal made the child sit in one place and said do one thing. Cut this baby into two pieces. One piece will be given to both the mothers. If neither of these two women accept this, the executioner will cut the woman in two.

Hearing this, one of the women agreed to cut the child and said that he had approved this order. She will leave with a piece of baby. But the other woman wept bitterly and said, "I don't want a baby." Cut me in two, but don't bite the baby. Give this child to another woman.

Seeing this, all the courtiers started to believe that the woman who is crying due to fear, is the one to blame. But then Birbal said that the woman who is ready to slice the child, imprison her. He is the perpetrator. Hearing this, the woman started crying and apologizing. But Emperor Akbar got him put in jail.

Then Akbar asked Birbal how did you know who the real mother is? Birbal then smiled and said, "Maharaj, the mother takes all the troubles on her head, but does not allow the child to suffer and this is what happens. It shows that the real mother is the one who is ready to cut herself." Is, but not the child's. "

Hearing Birbal's talk, Emperor Akbar once again agreed on the wisdom of Birbal.
