आज मशहूर पार्श्व गायक मोहम्मद रफी की जयंती है। उनकी जयंती पर उन्हें नमन। मोहम्मद रफी को लोग प्यार से रफी साहब बोलते हैं। उनके पहले और बाद में मुंबई महानगरी में कई गायक आए और कई चले गए, लेकिन भारतीय फिल्म जगत में रफी साहब जैसी प्रतिभाएं अनंत काल तक जीवित रहती हैं। 

रफी साहब का जन्म 24 दिसंबर,1924 को हुआ था। वह जितने अच्छे फनकार थे, उतने ही अच्छे इंसान भी थे। अमृतसर के छोटे गांव कोटला सुल्तानपुर के ये रहने वाले थे। बचपन से ही ये अपने गांव के फकीर के साथ गीत गुनगनाया करते थे। धीरे-धीरे यह सूफी फकीर उनके गाने की प्रेरणा बनता गया और वह मोहम्मद रफी से उस्ताद मोहम्मद रफी बन गए। अपने जमाने में हिंदुस्तान के संगीत प्रेमियों के दिलों की धड़कन कहे जाने वाले रफी साहब का निकनेम "फीको" था।

रफी साहब के बारे में एक दिलचस्प बात यह है कि इनके बड़े भाई सलून चलाया करते थे। मोहम्मद रफी की पढ़ाई में कोई रूचि नहीं थी। ऐसे में उनके पिताजी ने उन्हें बड़े भाई के साथ सलून में काम सीखने के लिए भेज दिया।

वहां यह सलून में काम करने लगे। एक दिन उनका साला मोहम्मद हनीफ वहां आया। उसने रफी में प्रतिभा और संगीत के प्रति जुनून देखा। यह देखकर उसने, उनका उत्साह बढ़ाया। हमीद ने ही रफी साहब की मुलाकात नौशाद अली से करवाई। जिसके बाद उन्हें ‘हिंदुस्तान के हम हैं, हिंदुस्तान हमारा’ की कुछ लाइने गाने का मौका मिला।

रफी काी पहली सार्वजनिक परफॉर्मेंस 13 साल की उम्र में हुई, जब उन्हें महान केएल सहगल के एक संगीत कार्यक्रम में गाने की अनुमति दी गई। उसके बाद रफी साहब ने पीछे मुड़कर नही देखा।

1948 में, रफी ने राजेंद्र कृष्ण द्वारा लिखित ‘सुन सुनो ऐ दुनिया वालों बापूजी की अमर कहानी’ गाया।यह गाना बहुत लोकप्रिय हुआ। इस गाने के हिट होने के बाद उन्हें तत्कालीन प्रधानमंत्री जवाहरलाल नेहरू के घर में गाने के लिए आमंत्रित किया गया था।

रफी साहब ने नौशाद के अलावा कई बड़े कम्पोजर्स के साथ काम किया था। एस.डी बर्मन, शंकर-जयकिशन, लक्ष्मीकांत प्यारेलाल, ओपी नैय्यर और कल्य़ाणजी आनंदजी समेत अपने दौर के लगभग सभी लोकप्रिय संगीतकारों के साथ मोहम्मद रफी ने गाना गाया था।

31 जुलाई 1980 को मात्र 55 साल की उम्र में रफी साहब का निधन हो गया। उनके अंतिम संस्कार मुंबई में हुआ था। तेज बारिश के बावजूद इसकी रिकॉर्डिंग की गई थी और उसी रिकॉर्डिंग का एक हिस्सा बाद में रिलीज हुई एक हिंदी फ़िल्म में इस्तेमाल किया गया । यह मुंबई में अब तक के सबसे बड़े अंतिम संस्कार जुलूसों में से एक था, जिसमें 10,000 से अधिक लोग शामिल हुए थे।

रफी साहब ने हिंदुस्तान के संगीत प्रेमियों को कई अविस्मरणीय गीतों की सौगात दी। आज भले ही रफी साहब हमारे बीच नहीं है लेकिन उनके गए गीत आज भी जिंदा है। अपने अदभुत गीतों के माध्यम से वे हमेशा लोगों के दिलों में जिंदा रहेंगे।

Today is the birth anniversary of famous playback singer Mohammad Rafi. Tribute to him on his birth anniversary. People fondly call Mohammed Rafi as Rafi Sahab. Many singers have come and gone in Mumbai Metropolitan Region before and after him, but talents like Rafi Sahab live on for eternity in the Indian film industry.

Rafi Sahab was born on December 24, 1924. He was as good a person as he was a good artist. He was a resident of Kotla Sultanpur, a small village in Amritsar. Since childhood, he used to sing songs with the fakir of his village. Gradually this Sufi Fakir became the inspiration of his singing and he became Ustad Mohammad Rafi from Mohammad Rafi. In his time, the nickname of Rafi Sahab, who was called the heartbeat of the music lovers of India, was "Fico".

An interesting thing about Rafi Sahab is that his elder brother used to run a saloon. Mohammad Rafi had no interest in studies. In such a situation, his father sent him to learn work in the saloon with his elder brother.

There he started working in the saloon. One day his brother-in-law Mohammad Hanif came there. He saw in Rafi the talent and passion for music. Seeing this, he encouraged them. It was Hameed who got Rafi Sahab to meet Naushad Ali. After which he got a chance to sing a few lines of 'Hindustan Ke Hum Hain, Hindustan Hamara'.

Rafi's first public performance was at the age of 13, when he was allowed to sing in a concert by the great KL Saigal. After that Rafi Sahab did not look back.

In 1948, Rafi sang Sun Suno Ae Duniya Walon Bapuji Ki Amar Kahani written by Rajendra Krishna. The song became very popular. After this song became a hit, she was invited to sing at the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's house.

Apart from Naushad, Rafi Sahab had worked with many big composers. Mohammed Rafi sang with almost all the popular composers of his era including SD Burman, Shankar-Jaikishan, Laxmikant Pyarelal, OP Nayyar and Kalyanji Anandji.

Rafi Sahab died on 31 July 1980 at the age of just 55. His last rites took place in Mumbai. It was recorded despite heavy rain and a portion of the same recording was used in a Hindi film released later. It was one of the largest funeral processions ever held in Mumbai, with over 10,000 people attending.

Rafi Sahab gifted many unforgettable songs to the music lovers of India. Even though Rafi sahab is not among us today, his songs are still alive. Through his wonderful songs, he will always be alive in the hearts of people.
