भारत के कई बड़े तीर्थ स्थल उत्तराखंड की पहाड़ियों में बसे हैं, जिसमें केदारनाथ, बद्रीनाथ, गंगोत्री, यमुनोत्री और हेमकुंड शामिल हैं। देवभूमि उत्तराखंड धर्म- अध्यात्म के क्षेत्र में सबसे खास माना जाता है। विश्व भर के पर्यटकों का यहां आने का एक उद्देश्य आत्मिक व मानसिक शांति भी होती है। हरी-भरी वनस्पतियों से भरे पहाड़, घाटियां, हिमालय की बर्फीली चोटियां, नदी, झरने इस स्थल को एक अद्भुत स्वरुप प्रदान करते हैं। यहां के प्राचीन मंदिरों के दर्शन मात्र के लिए लाखों की तादाद में श्रद्धालुओं का आगमन होता है। आज इस लेख के अंतर्गत आपको राज्य के प्रसिद्ध मंदिरों से अलग एक ऐसे धार्मिक स्थल के बारे में बताने जा रहे हैं, जिसका संबंध पौराणिक काल की बड़ी घटना से है।

उत्तराखंड के रुद्रप्रयाग जिले से 38 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर कनक चोरी गांव में स्थित है कार्तिक स्वामी मंदिर।कार्तिक स्वामी मंदिर समुद्र तल से 3048 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर स्थित है, जहां से मौसम साफ होने पर हिमालय के तमाम चोटियों जैसे चौखंबा, मद्यमहेश्वर, केदार पर्वत, मेरु-सुमेरु पर्वत, त्रिशूल, पंचाचूली, नीलकंठ, नंदा देवी, कामेट, नंदाघुंटी, रुद्रनाथ, दूनागिरी, कौसानी आदि का चौतरफा खूबसूरत नजारा देखते ही बनता है. कहते हैं इस मंदिर से हिमालय की लगभग 80 प्रतिशत चोटियाँ साफ नजर आती हैं। भगवान शिव केजेष्ठ पुत्र कार्तिकेय को समर्पित यह मंदिर तक कनक चोरी गांव से 3 किलोमीटर पैदल एक सुंदर कच्चे ट्रैक से होते हुए पहुंचा जा सकता है। इस रास्ते के दोनों ओर खूबसूरत जंगल, बुरांश के पेड़ और पक्षियों का कलरव यात्रा में इतनी सुगमता और मनोरमता भर देते हैं कि पता ही नहीं चलता कब हिमालय की गोद में स्थित क्रौंच पर्वत पर बसे इस मंदिर के अहाते तक पहुंच गए।

कार्तिक स्वामी मंदिर भगवान शिव के बड़े पुत्र कार्तिकेय को समर्पित है, जिन्होंने अपने माता-पिता के प्रति समर्पण के प्रमाण के रूप में अपने हड्डियों को समर्पित कर दिया।

माना जाता है कि यह घटना यहीं पर हुई थी। भगवान कार्तिक स्वामी को भारत के दक्षिणी भाग में कार्तिक मुरुगन स्वामी के रूप में भी जाना जाता है।

मंदिर में टंगी सैकड़ों घंटे का लगातार आवाज वहां से करीब 800 मीटर की दूरी पर भी सुनी जा सकती है। मुख्य सड़क से 80 सीढ़ियों की चढ़ाई करने के बाद मंदिर के गर्भ गृह तक पहुंचा जा सकता है जहां पर मूर्ति रखी गई है।

पौराणिक कथा

हिंदी पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार, भगवान शिव ने अपने पुत्रों भगवान गणेश और भगवान कार्तिकेय को कहा कि जो कोई भी पहले ब्रह्मांड के सात चक्कर लगाएगा। उसे पहले पूजा करने का सम्मान मिलेगा।यह सुनकर भगवान कार्तिकेय अपने वाहन पर ब्रह्मांड का चक्कर लगाने के लिए निकल पड़े, जबकि, भगवान गणेश ने अपने माता पिता को ही ब्रह्मांड के रूप में भगवान शिव और देवी पार्वती के सात चक्कर लगाए। गणेश की इस बुद्धिमता से प्रभावित होकर भगवान शिव ने उन्हें सबसे पहले पूजा होने का सौभाग्य दिया। स्वयं को हारा हुआ देखकर भगवान कार्तिकेय क्रोधित हो गए और श्रद्धा के रूप में अपने शरीर का मांस अपने पिता के चरणों में समर्पित कर दिया और स्वयं हड्डियों का ढांचा लेकर क्रौंच पर्वत पर चले गए। कहते हैं भगवान कार्तिकेय की ये हड्डियां आज भी मंदिर में मौजूद हैं, जिनकी पूजा करने लाखों भक्त हर साल कार्तिक स्वामी आते हैं।

यह मंदिर 12 महीना अपने भक्तों के लिए खुला रहता है। अधिक ऊंचाई पर होने के कारण गर्मियों में यहां का मौसम सुहाना व सर्दियों में बर्फ लिए रहता है। मंदिर के पीछे एक जलकुंड है जिसे कार्तिक कुई कहते हैं। प्रत्येक वर्ष जून माह में हजारों श्रद्धालु इस कुई से जल भर कर मंदिर में जलाभिषेक करते हैं

इस कार्यक्रम को हर वर्ष एक पर्व की तरह मनाया जाता है। कार्तिक स्वामी आने वाले श्रद्धालुओं में सबसे बड़ी संख्या बंगालियों व दक्षिण भारतीयों की है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि बंगाली समुदाय की कार्तिक स्वामी पर असीम श्रद्धा है। कुछ विदेशी पर्यटकों ने भी इस गंतव्य तक आना शुरू किया है, जो कि इसके प्रचार-प्रसार के लिहाज से सुखद बात है।

Hearing this Lord Kartikeya set out to circumnavigate the universe in his vehicle. While lying, Lord Ganesha made seven rounds of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati to his parents as the universe itself. Impressed by this wisdom of Ganesha, Lord Shiva gave him the privilege of being the first to be worshipped. Seeing himself defeated, Lord Kartikeya became enraged and as a form of reverence offered the flesh of his body at the feet of his father and

Taking the structure of bones himself, he went to Krauncha mountain. It is said that these bones of Lord Kartikeya are still present in the temple, for whom lakhs of devotees visit Kartik Swami every year.

This temple remains open for its devotees for 12 months. Due to its high altitude, the weather here is pleasant in summer and snowy in winter. There is a water tank behind the temple which is called Kartik Kui. Every year in the month of June, thousands of devotees fill water from this Hui and perform Jalabhishek in the temple.

This program is celebrated every year like a festival. The largest number of devotees visiting Kartik Swami are from Bengalis and South Indians. It is believed that the Bengali community has immense reverence for Kartik Swami. Some foreign tourists have also started coming to this destination, which is a pleasant thing in terms of its promotion.
