गजराज और मूषकराज

प्राचीन समय में एक नदी के किनारे एक बहुत बड़ा गांव हुआ करता था। एक समय वहां पर भारी वर्षा हुई और सारा नगर तबाह हो गया। अब वहां इंसान का कोई नामोनिशान नहीं रहा। वहां पर चूहों ने अपना घर बना लिया। चूहों की संख्या धीरे- धीरे बढ़ती गयी। हर तरफ चूहे ही चूहे नजर आने लगे। चूहों का राजा मुषकराज था। 

गांव से कुछ दूरी पर ही एक जंगल था। उस जंगल में एक तालाब था, जहां सैकड़ों हाथी रहते थे और तालाब में पानी पीते थे। एक बार की बात है जब जंगल में भयंकर सूखा पड़ गया और सभी हाथियों के लिए पीने के पानी की समस्या उत्पन्न हो गई। गजराज की दोस्ती एक चील से थी। चील ने बताया कि पास ही एक सरोवर है, जहां पानी पर्याप्त मात्रा में मौजूद है, जहां आपके पानी की समस्या दूर हो जाएगी। 

अगले दिन सारे हाथी पानी पीने के लिए उस सरोवर पर जाने लगे।अब हाथियों के पैरों के नीचे चूहे आकर मरने लगे। लेकिन चूहे कुछ कर भी नहीं सकते थे। जब चूहे काफी ज्यादा संख्या में मरने लगे, तो चूहों का राजा मुषकराज परेशान हो गया और वह हाथियों के राजा गजराज के पास पहुंचा और बोला, हे गजराज! आप जिस रास्ते पानी पीने के लिए जाते हैं, उधर हमारे सैकड़ों चूहे रहते हैं, जो कि हाथियों के पैरों तले कुचले जाते हैं और मारे जाते हैं। तब गजराज को अपनी गलती का एहसास हुआ और वह बोला कोई बात नहीं हम अपना रास्ता बदल लेते हैं। तब चूहों के राजा ने गजराज को धन्यवाद दिया और कहा - "आपसे यही उम्मीद थी। यदि मुझसे कोई मदद चाहिए हो तो जरूर याद कीजिएगा।"

गजराज मन ही मन मुस्कुराया और सोचा कि यह चूहा मेरी क्या मदद कर सकता है? 

उसके बाद समय बीतता रहा और एक दिन किसी राज्य के सैनिक ने अपनी सेना को ताकतवर बनाने के लिए जंगल से हाथी पकड़कर लाने का आदेश दिया। जंगल में जाल बिछाकर सैनिक हाथियों को पकड़ने लगे। इस बात से गजराज बहुत परेशान था, पर उसे कोई रास्ता नहीं सूझ रहा था। एक दिन तो खुद गजराज भी सैनिकों द्वारा बिछाये जाल में फंस गया। वह चाह कर भी उस जाल से बाहर नहीं निकल पा रहा था। 

तभी गजराज का मित्र चील उसके पास आया और बोला मैं किस तरह तुम्हारी सहायता कर सकता हूं। तभी गजराज को मूषकराज की याद आई और गजराज ने चील को कहा कि वह मुषकराज को बुला लाए। चील तेजी से मुषकराज के पास गया और सारी बात कह सुनाई। मुषकराज बिना विलम्ब के अपने सारे साथियों के साथ जंगल में जा पहुंचा और जाल को दांतों से काट दिया। इस प्रकार गजराज आजाद हो गया और उसने चूहे को धन्यवाद दिया।सभी ख़ुशी ख़ुशी रहने लगे और गजराज और मूषकराज की गहरी दोस्ती हो गयी। 

शिक्षा : कोई भी प्राणी छोटा नहीं होता है, आपसी सदभाव व प्रेम सदा एक दूसरे के कष्टों को हर लेते हैं।

English Translate

Elephant king and Mouse king

In ancient times, there used to be a very big village on the banks of a river. Once upon a time there was heavy rain and the whole city was destroyed. Now there is no trace of human being there. There the rats made their home. The number of rats gradually increased. Rats and rats started appearing everywhere. Mushkraj was the king of rats.

There was a forest at some distance from the village. There was a pond in that forest, where hundreds of elephants lived and used to drink water in the pond. Once upon a time there was a severe drought in the forest and there was a problem of drinking water for all the elephants. Gajraj was friends with an eagle. The eagle told that there is a lake nearby, where water is present in sufficient quantity, where your water problem will be solved.

The next day all the elephants started going to that lake to drink water. Now rats started dying under the feet of the elephants. But the rats couldn't do anything. When the rats started dying in large numbers, the king of rats, Mushkraj got upset and he reached Gajraj, the king of elephants and said, O Gajraj! On the way you go to drink water, there are hundreds of our rats, which are trampled under the feet of elephants and killed. Then Gajraj realized his mistake and he said no problem, we change our path. Then the king of rats thanked Gajraj and said - "This is what was expected from you. If you need any help from me, then definitely remember."

Gajraj smiled to himself and thought that what can this mouse help me?

After that time passed and one day a soldier of a state ordered to bring an elephant from the forest to make his army strong. The soldiers started catching the elephants by laying nets in the forest. Gajraj was very upset by this, but he could not find any way out. One day even Gajraj himself got caught in the trap laid by the soldiers. He could not get out of that trap even if he wanted to.

Then Gajraj's friend the eagle came to him and said how can I help you. Then Gajraj remembered Mushkraj and Gajraj asked the eagle to call Mushkraj. The eagle quickly went to Mushkraj and narrated the whole story. Without delay, Mushkraj reached the forest with all his companions and cut the net with his teeth. In this way Gajraj became free and he thanked the mouse. Everyone started living happily and Gajraj and Moushkraj became close friends.

Moral: No creature is small, mutual harmony and love always take away each other's sufferings.
