आस्था और अद्भुत वास्तु का संयोजन है..

रणकपुर जैन मंदिर (Ranakpur Jain Temple) राजस्थान राज्य के पाली जिले में अरावली पर्वत की घाटियों के मध्य में स्थित है। रणकपूर जैन धर्म के पांच प्रमुख तीर्थ स्थलों में से एक है। यह स्थान खूबसूरती से तराशे गए प्राचीन जैन मंदिरों के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। इन मंदिरों का निर्माण 15वीं शताब्दी में राणा कुंभा के शासनकाल में हुआ था। इन्हीं के नाम पर इस जगह का नाम रणकपुर पड़ा। यहां के जैन मंदिर भारतीय स्थापत्य कला का अद्भुत नमूना है। केवल रणकपुर में ही नहीं बल्कि उसके आसपास की जगहों में भी अनेक प्राचीन मंदिर हैं। जैन धर्म में आस्था रखने वालों के साथ-साथ वास्तुशिल्प में दिलचस्पी रखने वाले को भी यह जगह बहुत भाती है।

रणकपुर में भगवान आदिनाथ का चतुर्मुख जैन मंदिर है, जो चारों ओर जंगलों से घिरा हुआ है, और इस मंदिर की भव्यता देखते ही बनती है। इस मंदिर की सबसे खास बात 1444 खंभे होना है। रणकपुर मंदिर उदयपुर से 96 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर है। भारत के जैन मंदिरों में संभवतः यह सबसे भव्य तथा विशाल है।

उत्कृष्ट कला का नमूना चौमुखा मंदिर

यह मंदिर परिसर लगभग 40000 वर्ग फीट में फैला है। करीब 600 वर्ष पूर्व 1439 में इस मंदिर का निर्माण कार्य हुआ था, जो 50 वर्षों से अधिक समय तक चला। इसके निर्माण में करीब 99 लाख रुपया का खर्च आया था। मंदिर में चार कलात्मक प्रवेश द्वार हैं। मंदिर के मुख्य गृह में तीर्थंकर आदिनाथ की श्वेत संगमरमर से बनी 4 विशाल मूर्तियां हैं जो करीब 72 इंच ऊंची हैं, और एक दूसरे की पीठ से लगी हुई चारों दिशाओं में मुख किए हैं। इसी कारण इसे चतुर्मुख मंदिर कहा जाता है।मंदिर के चार द्वार होने से कोई भी श्रद्धालु किसी भी दिशा से भगवान आदिनाथ के दर्शन कर सकता है। इसके अलावा मंदिर में 76 छोटे गुंबदनुमा पवित्र स्थान, चार बड़े प्रार्थना कक्ष तथा चार बड़े पूजा स्थल हैं। एक वैष्णो मंदिर शिव नारायण का भी है। एक धार्मिक मंदिर चौमुखा त्रलोक्य दीपक है, जिनमें राजस्थान की जैन कला और धार्मिक परंपरा का अपुर्व प्रर्दशन हुआ है। कहते हैं कि यह मनुष्य की जीवन मृत्यु की 84 लाख जीव- योनियों से मुक्ति प्राप्त कर मोक्ष प्राप्त करने के लिए प्रेरित करते हैं।

मंदिर के सैकड़ों खंभे इसकी प्रमुख विशेषता हैं। इनकी संख्या करीब 1444 है और इनकी खासियत यह है कि यह सभी खंभे एक दूसरे से भिन्न हैं। जिस तरफ भी दृष्टि जाती है, छोटे-बड़े आकारों के खंभे दिखाई देते हैं, परंतु ये खंभे इस प्रकार बनाए गए हैं कि कहीं से भी देखने पर मुख्य पवित्र स्थल के दर्शन में बाधा नहीं पहुंचती है । इन खंभों पर सुंदर नक्काशी एवं छत का स्थापत्य आश्चर्यजनक है।मंदिर के पास के गलियारे में बने मंडपों में सभी 24 तीर्थंकरों की तस्वीरें उकेरी गई हैं‌ सभी मंडप में शिखर है,और शिखर के ऊपर घंटी लगी है।हवा चलने पर इन घंटियों की आवाज पूरे मंदिर में गूंजती है। मंदिर परिसर में नेमिनाथ और पारसनाथ को समर्पित दो मंदिर है जिनकी नक्काशी खजुराहो की याद दिलाते हैं।

मंदिर के निर्माताओं ने जहां कलात्मक दो मंजिला भवन का निर्माण किया है, वहीं भविष्य में किसी संकट का अनुमान लगाते हुए कई तहखाने भी बनाए गए हैं। इन तहखानों में पवित्र मूर्तियों को सुरक्षित रखा जा सकता है। ये तहखाने मंदिर के निर्माताओं की निर्माण संबंधी दूरदर्शिता का परिचय देते हैं। इसके अलावा संगमरमर के टुकड़े पर भगवान ऋषभदेव के पद चिन्ह भी हैं। यह भगवान ऋषभदेव तथा शत्रुंजय की शिक्षाओं की याद दिलाते हैं।

Ranakpur Jain Temple is situated in the middle of the valleys of the Aravalli Mountains in the Pali district of Rajasthan state. Ranakpur is one of the five major pilgrimage sites of Jainism. The place is famous for its beautifully carved ancient Jain temples. These temples were built during the reign of Rana Kumbha in the 15th century. This place was named Ranakpur after him. The Jain temple here is a wonderful specimen of Indian architecture. There are many ancient temples not only in Ranakpur but also in its surrounding places. This place is very pleasing to those who believe in Jainism as well as those who are interested in architecture.

There is a Chaturmukh Jain temple of Lord Adinath in Ranakpur, which is surrounded by forests, and the grandeur of this temple is made on sight. The most special thing about this temple is to have 1444 pillars. Ranakpur Temple is at a distance of 96 kms from Udaipur. It is probably the grandest and largest among the Jain temples of India.

Chaumukha Temple, a specimen of fine art

This temple complex is spread over an area of about 40000 square feet. The construction of this temple was done in 1439, about 600 years ago, which lasted for more than 50 years. About 99 lakh rupees were spent in its construction. The temple has four artistic entrances. The main hall of the temple houses 4 huge white marble statues of Tirthankara Adinath, about 72 inches high, and facing each other in all four directions with their backs. That is why it is called Chaturmukh temple. Due to the four gates of the temple, any devotee can have darshan of Lord Adinath from any direction. Apart from this, the temple has 76 small dome-shaped shrines, four large prayer halls and four large places of worship. There is also a Vaishno temple of Shiva Narayan. There is a religious temple Chaumukha Trilokya Deepak, in which the Jain art and religious tradition of Rajasthan has been displayed in an unusual way. It is said that it inspires man to attain salvation by getting rid of 84 lakh creatures of life and death.

Hundreds of pillars of the temple are its main feature. Their number is about 1444 and their specialty is that all these pillars are different from each other. Wherever the vision goes, pillars of small and big sizes are visible, but these pillars have been made in such a way that the view of the main holy place is not obstructed when viewed from anywhere. The beautiful carvings on these pillars and the architecture of the ceiling are astonishing. The pictures of all the 24 Tirthankaras have been engraved in the mandalas near the temple. All the mandapas have shikharas, and there is a bell on top of the spire. The sound of these bells when the wind blows echoes throughout the temple. The temple complex has two temples dedicated to Neminath and Parasnath whose carvings are reminiscent of Khajuraho.

While the builders of the temple have constructed an artistic two-storey building, many basements have also been built anticipating any crisis in the future. Sacred idols can be kept safe in these cellars. These cellars show the construction vision of the builders of the temple. Apart from this, there are also footprints of Lord Rishabhdev on the piece of marble. It reminds of the teachings of Lord Rishabhdev and Shatrunjaya.
