बहुभाषी (Bahubhashi)

बादशाह अकबर अपने समय में विभिन्न प्रांतों में अलग-अलग भाषा को देखते हुए अपने दरबार में एक बहुभाषिक की आवश्यकता महसूस करते थे। विभिन्न प्रांतों में अपनी प्रजा की भाषाई विविधता को देखते हुए वह चाहते थे कि उनके दरबार में एक बहुभाषिक हो, जिसकी सहायता से वह प्रजा की बातों को समझ सके और उनसे वार्तालाप कर सकें।

उन्होंने अपने मंत्रियों को ऐसा एक बहुभाषिक व्यक्ति ढूंढने का आदेश दिया, जिसकी विभिन्न भाषाओं पर अच्छी पकड़ हो। मंत्रियों ने सैनिकों की मदद से महाराज अकबर का संदेश राज्य के कोने कोने में प्रसारित करवाया।

कुछ दिनों के बाद एक व्यक्ति महाराज के दरबार में उपस्थित हुआ और महाराज अकबर को सलाम करते हुए बोला - "जहांपना! मैं कई भाषाओं का अच्छा जानकार हूं। आप मुझे बहुभाषिक के पद पर नियुक्त कर सकते हैं।"

अकबर ने उसकी परीक्षा लेने के लिए अपने दरबारियों को उससे अपनी-अपनी भाषाओं में बात करने के लिए कहा। एक-एक कर दरबारी अपनी भाषा में उस बहुभाषी से प्रश्न करने लगे। बहुभाषी ने सभी को उनकी ही भाषा में उत्तर दे दिया। भाषा पर उसकी अच्छी पकड़ को देखकर अकबर बहुत प्रभावित हुए और प्रसन्न हुए। उन्होंने उसे अपने दरबार में बहुभाषी नियुक्त करने का निर्णय ले लिया और उससे बोले,- " तुम्हारे भाषा ज्ञान से हम बहुत प्रभावित हैं।सभी भाषाओं में तुम्हें इतनी धाराप्रवाह है कि लगता है अपनी ही भाषा बोल रहे हो। हम तुम्हें अपने दरबार का बहुभाषी नियुक्त करते हैं, लेकिन हम यह भी जानने को उत्सुक है कि तुम्हारी मातृभाषा क्या हैै?"

इस पर बहुभाषी बोला, "जहांपना मैंने सुना है कि आप के दरबार में बहुत बुद्धिमान मंत्री गण हैं। क्या उनमें से कोई यह बता सकता है कि मेरी मातृभाषा क्या है?

दरबारियों ने अपने अनुमान के आधार पर बहुभाषी की भाषा बताने का प्रयास किया, परंतु कोई भी इस कार्य में सफल नहीं हो पाया। यह देख बहुभाषी हंस पड़ा और बोला,- "जहांपनाह लगता है मैंने गलत सुना है। यहां तो कोई भी बुद्धिमान प्रतीत नहीं होता।

इस पर अकबर को बहुत शर्मिंदगी महसूस हुई और उन्होंने बीरबल की ओर देखा, जिसने अब तक बहुभाषी की भाषा बताने का प्रयास नहीं किया था।

अकबर को अपनी ओर देखता पाकर बीरबल अपने स्थान से उठ खड़े हुए और बोले,- "जहांपनाह! मैं कल बता दूंगा कि इस बहुभाषी की भाषा क्या है?

उस रात बहुभाषी को शाही अतिथिगृह में ठहराया गया। अगले दिन वह अकबर के दरबार में पुनः उपस्थित हुआ। 

अकबर ने बीरबल से पूछा,- "हां बीरबल अब बताओ बहुभाषी की मातृभाषा क्या है ?

इस पर बीरबल बोले, "हुजूर इनकी मातृभाषा बंगला है। आप इनसे ही पूछ लीजिए।" अकबर ने बहुभाषी से पूछा तो उन्होंने हामी भर दी।

अकबर हैरान थे कि बीरबल ने उनकी मातृभाषा को कैसे पहचाना। पूछे जाने पर बीरबल ने बताया, "महाराज! कल रात मैंने अतिथि गृह के बाहर अपना एक सेवक भेजा और उसे जोर जोर से चिल्लाने के लिए बोला। वह सेवक वहां जोर जोर से चिल्लाने लगा। उस समय यह महाशय सो रहे थे। चिल्लाने की आवाज सुनकर इनकी नींद खुल गई और बाहर आकर गुस्से में चिल्लाने लगे। उस समय यह जो भाषा बोल रहे थे, वह बांग्ला थी। मैं पास के ही कक्ष में छुपकर सब कुछ देख - सुन रहा था। मैं समझ गया कि इनकी भाषा बांग्ला है, क्योंकि व्यक्ति कितनी ही भाषाओं में पारंगत क्यों ना हो, जब गुस्से में या मुसीबत में होता है, तो वह अपनी ही भाषा में बोलता और चिल्लाता है। 

बहुभाषी ने बीरबल की बुद्धिमत्ता का लोहा मान लिया और अकबर शर्मिंदगी से बच गए।

But we are also curious to know what your mother tongue is. "

 Multilingual said, "Wherever I have heard that your court has very intelligent ministers. Can any of them tell what my mother tongue is?"

 The courtiers tried to show the language of the multilingual on the basis of their guess, but no one was successful in this task. Seeing this, a multi-lingual laughed and said, "Wherever I think I have heard wrong. Nobody here seems wise."

 At this Akbar felt very embarrassed and looked towards Birbal, who had not yet attempted to speak the language of multilinguals.

 Seeing Akbar looking towards him, Birbal stood up from his place and said, "Jahanpanah! I will tell tomorrow what is the language of this multilingual?"

 That night, Multilingual was held at the Royal Guest House. The next day he reappeared in Akbar's court.

 Akbar asked Birbal, "Yes, Birbal, now tell me what is the mother tongue of a multilingual?

 Birbal said on this, "Huzoor is his mother tongue Bangla. You ask him only." When Akbar asked the multilingual, he agreed.

 Akbar was surprised how Birbal recognized his mother tongue. When asked, Birbal said, "Maharaj! Last night, I sent one of my servants outside the guest house and told him to shout loudly. That servant shouted loudly there. At that time this monsieur was sleeping. To shout. Hearing the sound, he woke up and came out and shouted angrily. The language he was speaking at that time was Bangla. I was hiding in a nearby room, watching and hearing everything. I understood that his language is Bangla. , Because no matter how many languages ​​the person is proficient in, when he is angry or in trouble, he speaks and shouts in his own language.

 Multilinguals accepted Birbal's intelligence and Akbar survived the embarrassment.
