एक बार राजा अकबर अपने दरबार में किसी खास विषय पर चर्चा कर रहे थे। उस विषय पर उन्होंने राज दरबार में उपस्थित सभी लोगों से उनकी राय मांगी। दरबार में उपस्थित सभी मंत्री गणों ने अपनी - अपनी बुद्धि के हिसाब से जवाब दिया। राजा यह देखकर हैरान हुए कि सभी का जवाब अलग-अलग था। इस पर राजा अकबर ने बीरबल से ऐसा होने के पीछे की वजह पूछी और सवाल किया - "आखिर सब की सोच एक जैसी क्यों नहीं होती है?"

राजा के सवाल पर बीरबल बोले - "महाराज! बेशक लोगों की सोच एक दूसरे से कई मामलों में अलग-अलग होती है, परंतु कुछ खास विषयों पर सबकी सोच एक जैसी भी होती है। इस बात के बाद दरबार की कार्यवाही समाप्त हो गई। 

उसी शाम राजा अकबर बीरबल के साथ बगीचे में टहल रहे थे। तब वह दोबारा वही सवाल पूछते हैं। बीरबल! मैंने तुमसे पूछा था कि सभी की सोच एक जैसी क्यों नहीं होती है, इस सवाल का जवाब दो मुझे। इसी के साथ एक बार फिर अकबर और बीरबल के बीच बहस छिड़ जाती है। जब लाख कोशिशों के बावजूद बीरबल, राजा अकबर को  समझा नहीं पाते हैं तो वह अपनी बात को समझाने के लिए एक युक्ति निकालते हैं। 

बीरबल कहते हैं, महाराज मैं आपको साबित कर दूंगा कि कुछ मामलों में सबकी सोच एक जैसी ही होती है। बस आप एक फरमान जारी कर दीजिए। फरमान में यह होगा कि आने वाली अमावस्या की रात को सभी अपने अपने घर से एक लोटा दूध लाकर आपके बाग में बने सूखे कुएं में डालेंगे और इस फरमान को ना मानने वाले को सख्त से सख्त सजा दी जाएगी। 

वैसे तो राजा अकबर को बीरबल की यह बात मूर्खता वाली प्रतीत हुई, लेकिन वह बीरबल के कहे अनुसार शाही फरमान जारी करवा देते हैं। राजा के आदेश से सिपाही पूरे राज्य में घूम - घूम कर इस फरमान के बारे में सभी को बताते हैं। इस फरमान को सुनते ही जनसाधारण में चर्चा होने लगी कि सूखे कुएं में दूध डालना एक मूर्खतापूर्ण कार्य है, फिर भी राजा का फरमान था तो मानना सभी को था। 

देखते-देखते अमावस्या की रात आ गई और सभी अपने-अपने घर से एक एक भरा लोटा लेकर कुएं के पास जमा हो गए। बारी-बारी सभी कुएं में लोटा पलट कर अपने अपने घर की ओर चले गए। यह सारा नजारा राजा अकबर और बीरबल छुप कर देख रहे होते हैं। 

जब सभी अपना लोटा कुएं में पलट कर चले गए, तो बीरबल राजा अकबर को कुएं के नजदीक ले जाते हैं और कहते हैं, " महाराज! देखिए क्या आप के फरमान से कुआं दूध से भर गया?" बीरबल की बात पर राजा अकबर कुएं में झांक कर देखते हैं कि कुआं ऊपर तक पानी से भरा हुआ है। यह देखकर उन्हें बहुत आश्चर्य होता है और वे नाराज भी होते हैं। 

राजा अकबर बीरबल से कहते हैं," मैंने तो कुएं में दूध डालने का फरमान जारी किया था, फिर कुआं दूध की जगह पानी से क्यों भरा है?" राजा के सवाल पर बीरबल जवाब देते हैं - "महाराज! कुएं में दूध डालना सभी को व्यर्थ लगा, इसलिए सभी ने दूध की जगह पानी डाला। उन सभी ने यह भी सोचा होगा कि अमावस्या की रात घना अंधेरा होता है। अब इतने अंधेरे में सभी को सिर्फ लोटा ही दिखेगा, ना कि लोटे में क्या है वह? बीरबल बोले, महाराज इस बात से स्पष्ट होता है कि कुछ मामलों में सभी की सोच एक जैसी होती है।"अब राजा अकबर को बीरबल की बात अच्छे से समझ में आ गई। 

Moral /शिक्षा :- यदि व्यक्तिगत स्थिति और परिस्थितियां समान हो तो सोच एक जैसी हो जाती है। 

English Translate

Sabki soch ek jaisi

 Once King Akbar was discussing a particular subject in his court.  On that subject, he sought his opinion from all the people present in the court.  All the ministers present in the court responded according to their intelligence.  The king was surprised to see that everyone had different answers.  At this, King Akbar asked Birbal the reason behind this happening and asked - "Why doesn't everyone think the same?"

 On the question of the king, Birbal said - "Maharaj! Of course the thinking of people is different from each other in many respects, but on different subjects, everyone has the same thinking. After this, the court proceedings ended.

 The same evening King Akbar was walking in the garden with Birbal.  Then he asks the same question again.  Birbal!  I asked you, why do not everyone think the same, answer this question to me.  With this, once again the debate between Akbar and Birbal starts.  When Birbal, despite millions of efforts, is unable to convince King Akbar, he devises a tip to explain his point.

 Birbal says, Maharaj, I will prove to you that in some cases everyone has the same thinking.  Just you issue a decree.  It will be in the decree that on the coming Amavasya night everyone will bring a lota of milk from their home and put it in a dry well made in your garden and those who do not obey this decree will be punished with the harshest.

 Although this thing of Birbal seems to be foolish to King Akbar, but he gets the royal decree issued as stated by Birbal.  On the orders of the king, the soldiers roam across the state and tell everyone about this decree.  On hearing this decree, there was a discussion among the general public that pouring milk in a dry well was a foolish act, yet everyone had to obey the king's decree.

 Immediately the night of Amavasya arrived and all gathered from their respective homes near the well with a full lotus.  In turn all the wells turned into a lota and went towards their respective homes.  All this view is hidden by King Akbar and Birbal.

 When everyone turns their lota into a well, Birbal takes King Akbar close to the well and says, "Maharaj! See what your decree filled the well with milk?"  On Birbal's talk, King Akbar peeks into the well and sees that the well is filled with water up to the top.  They are very surprised to see this and they are also angry.

 King Akbar says to Birbal, "I had issued a decree to pour milk into the well, then why is the well filled with water instead of milk?"  Birbal responds to the king's question - "Maharaj! It was futile to pour milk in the well, so everyone put water in place of milk. They all must have also thought that on the new moon night it is very dark. Now in such darkness  Everyone will see only the lota, not what is in the lotus? Birbal said, Maharaj makes it clear that in some cases everyone has the same thinking. "Now King Akbar understood Birbal very well.  Has gone.

 Moral / Education: - If personal condition and circumstances are same then thinking becomes same.
