गंगोत्री मंदिर

"गंगोत्री मंदिर" का निर्माण नेपाली सेनापति अमर सिंह थापा ने 18वीं शताब्दी की शुरुआत में करवाया था। बाद में जयपुर के महाराजा ने इस मंदिर का पुनर्निर्माण करवाया। गंगोत्री मंदिर नागर शैली की वास्तुकला का अनुसरण करता है। यह सरल है और सफेद संगमरमर के पत्थर से बना हुआ है। इस मंदिर में आंतरिक नक्काशी नहीं है। इसमें पांच छोटे शिखर हैं, जिनकी ऊंचाई 20 फीट है। मुख्य गर्भगृह एक ऊंचे मंच पर बनाया गया है। 

गर्भगृह के सामने एक मंडप है, जहां भक्त पूजा अर्चना करते हैं। आंतरिक गर्भगृह में देवी गंगा की मूर्ति है। इसमें देवी यमुना, अन्नपूर्णा, सरस्वती और लक्ष्मी की मूर्तियां भी हैं। भागीरथ और ऋषि आदि शंकर की मूर्तियां आंतरिक गर्भगृह के अंदर मौजूद मूर्तियों के समूह को पूरा करती हैं। भगवान शिव, भगवान गणेश, अंजनी पुत्र हनुमान और भागीरथी को समर्पित चार छोटे मंदिर है। 

भागीरथी नदी के तट पर स्थित गंगोत्री मंदिर देवदार और चीड़ के पेड़ों के बीच बसा हुआ है। मंदिर की सफेद इमारत के परिसर में छोटी चांदी की मूर्ति है। तीर्थयात्री पवित्र मंदिर में जाने से पहले पवित्र नदी के क्रिस्टल साफ़ पानी में स्नान कर सकते हैं।

गंगोत्री मंदिर के पास पानी के नीचे डूबा हुआ एक प्राकृतिक चट्टान शिवलिंग है। जब सर्दियां आती है और पानी का स्तर कम होता है, तब इस शिवलिंग को आसानी से देखा जा सकता है। मिथकों और किवदंतियों के अनुसार यह वह स्थान है, जहां भगवान शिव बैठे थे जब गंगा उनकी जटाओं में ऊतरी थीं। शिव ने गंगा को सात धाराओं में विभाजित किया और पृथ्वी को बचाया। 

गंगोत्री मंदिर देवी गंगा को समर्पित सबसे ऊंचे मंदिरों में से है। गंगोत्री, गंगा नदी की उद्गम स्थान है एवं उत्तराखंड के चार धाम तीर्थयात्रा में चार स्थलों में से एक है। नदी के स्रोत को भागीरथी कहा जाता है और देवप्रयाग के बाद से यह अलकनंदा में मिलती है, जहाँ से गंगा नाम कहलाती है। पवित्र नदी का उद्गम गोमुख पर है, जो की गंगोत्री ग्लेशियर में स्थापित है और गंगोत्री से 19 किलोमीटर का ट्रेक है।

गंगोत्री मंदिर भागीरथ शिला के पास बना है। यह एक स्तंभ है, जहां राजा भगीरथ ने भगवान शिव से गंगा नदी के लिए प्रार्थना की थी। तीर्थ यात्री स्तंभ से जल एकत्र करते हैं और इसे अमृत के रूप में अपने घर ले जाते हैं। अमृत का उपयोग विभिन्न धार्मिक और पवित्र उद्देश्यों के लिए किया जाता है। महाभारत के युद्ध में कौरवों को पराजित करने के बाद पांडवों ने अपने लोगों और रिश्तेदारों की मृत्यु के प्रायश्चित के लिए गंगोत्री मंदिर में देव यज्ञ किया था। 

गंगोत्री कई किंवदंतियों और मिथकों से भी जुड़ा हुआ है। एक लोकप्रिय किंवदंती के अनुसार भगवान राम, जो कि सबसे अधिक पूजनीय हिंदू देवताओं में से एक हैं, अपने वनवास के दौरान इस मंदिर में आए थे। यह भी कहा जाता है कि इस मंदिर में भगवान हनुमान भी आए थे, जिनके बारे में माना जाता है कि उन्होंने मंदिर में देवी गंगा की पूजा की थी और उनसे आशीर्वाद प्राप्त किया था।

गंगोत्री का हिंदुओं के लिए बहुत आध्यात्मिक और सांस्कृतिक महत्व है और हर साल हज़ारों तीर्थयात्री अपनी प्रार्थना करने और आशीर्वाद लेने के लिए मंदिर आते हैं। मंदिर मई से अक्टूबर तक आगंतुकों के लिए खुला रहता है। शेष वर्ष में, देवी गंगा की मूर्ति को पास के मुखबा गाँव में रखा जाता है, जहाँ अगले मौसम तक उनकी पूजा की जाती है।

Gangotri Temple

The "Gangotri Temple" was built by Nepalese general Amar Singh Thapa in the early 18th century. Later the Maharaja of Jaipur rebuilt this temple. The Gangotri Temple follows the Nagara style of architecture. It is simple and made of white marble stone. There is no internal carving in this temple. It has five small shikharas, which are 20 feet high. The main sanctum sanctorum is built on an elevated platform.

There is a mandap in front of the sanctum sanctorum, where devotees worship. The inner sanctum houses the idol of Goddess Ganga. It also houses idols of Goddess Yamuna, Annapurna, Saraswati and Lakshmi. The idols of Bhagiratha and Rishi Adi Shankara complete the group of idols present inside the inner sanctum. There are four small temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, Anjani Putra Hanuman and Bhagirathi.

Situated on the banks of the Bhagirathi River, the Gangotri Temple is nestled between cedar and pine trees. The white building of the temple has a small silver idol in its premises. Pilgrims can take a dip in the crystal clear waters of the holy river before visiting the sacred temple.

There is a natural rock Shivling submerged under water near Gangotri temple. When winters arrive and the water level is low, this Shivling can be easily seen. According to myths and legends, this is the place where Lord Shiva sat when Ganga descended in his matted hair. Shiva divided Ganga into seven streams and saved the earth.

Gangotri temple is one of the highest temples dedicated to Goddess Ganga. Gangotri is the origin of the river Ganges and is one of the four sites in the Char Dham pilgrimage of Uttarakhand. The source of the river is called Bhagirathi and after Devprayag it joins the Alaknanda, from where it gets the name Ganga. The holy river originates at Gomukh, which is located in the Gangotri glacier and is a 19 km trek from Gangotri.

Gangotri temple is built near Bhagirath Shila. It is a pillar where King Bhagirath prayed to Lord Shiva for the river Ganga. Pilgrims collect water from the pillar and take it home as Amrit. The Amrit is used for various religious and holy purposes. After defeating the Kauravas in the war of Mahabharata, the Pandavas performed Dev Yagna at the Gangotri temple to atone for the death of their people and relatives.

Gangotri is also associated with many legends and myths. According to a popular legend, Lord Rama, one of the most revered Hindu gods, visited this temple during his exile. It is also said that the temple was also visited by Lord Hanuman, who is believed to have worshipped Goddess Ganga at the temple and received blessings from her.

Gangotri has great spiritual and cultural significance for Hindus and thousands of pilgrims visit the temple every year to offer their prayers and seek blessings. The temple is open for visitors from May to October. In the rest of the year, the idol of Goddess Ganga is kept in the nearby Mukhaba village, where she is worshipped until the next season.
