महाराष्ट्र के नासिक जिले में प्रभु श्री राम के कई मंदिर हैं। कालाराम, गोराराम, मुठे का राम, यहां तक की महिलाओं के लिए विशेषराम आदि। इन सभी मंदिरों में कालाराम की अपनी अलग विशेषता है। कालाराम मन्दिर एक प्राचीन हिन्दू मन्दिर है, जिसमें भगवान राम की मूर्ति स्थापित है। यह मंदिर ऐतिहासिक और पुरातात्विक दृष्टि से तो महत्व रखता ही है, साथ ही इसकी बनावट में इस तरह का आकर्षण है जो कि मंत्र मुग्ध कर देता है। यह मन्दिर महाराष्ट्र राज्य के नासिक ज़िले के पंचवटी के निकट स्थित है।

पेशवा के सरदार रंगराव ओढेकर द्वारा यह मंदिर 1782 में काले पाषाणों से नागर शैली में निर्मित कराया गया था। मंदिर में विराजमान श्री राम की मूर्ति काले पाषाण से बनी हुई है, इसीलिए इसे कालाराम कहा जाता है। प्रभु श्री राम के साथ यहां माता सीता व लक्ष्मण की भी आकर्षक प्रतिमाएं विराजमान हैं।

कालाराम मंदिर 74 मीटर लंबा और 32 मीटर चौड़ा है। मंदिर की चारों दिशाओं में चार दरवाजे हैं। इस मंदिर के कलश तक की ऊंचाई 69 फिट है तथा कलश 32 टन शुद्ध सोने से निर्मित है। दिन हो या रात, मंदिर का तांबे का शिखर हर समय चमकता रहता है। पूर्व महाद्वार से प्रवेश करने पर भव्य सभा मंडप नजर आता है, जिसकी ऊंचाई 12 फिट होने के साथ ही यहां 40 खंबे हैं। यहां विराजमान अंजनीपुत्र हनुमान मंदिर में वे प्रभु श्री राम के चरणों की ओर देखते हुए प्रतीत होते हैं।

अपनी मूर्तियों की तरह इस मंदिर का आंतरिक भाग भी अनोखा है। मंदिर के निर्माताओं ने यह सुनिश्चित किया कि मंदिर समय की कसौटी पर खरा उतरने के लिए पर्याप्त मजबूत होना चाहिए। वास्तव में, इसकी स्थायित्व की जांच करने के लिए, मंदिर के निर्माताओं ने निर्माण कार्य में उपयोग करने से पहले प्रत्येक ईंट पर दूध डालकर उसका परीक्षण करने का निर्णय लिया। मंदिर की मुख्य संरचना 96 स्तंभों वाले एक दीवार वाले घेरे के बीच में स्थित है और पूर्व में एक धनुषाकार प्रवेश द्वार है। 

यह मंदिर पर्णकुटी के स्थान पर बनाया गया है, जहां पूर्व में नाथपंथी साधु निवास किया करते थे। साधुओं को अरुण वरुण नदी पर प्रभु की मूर्ति प्राप्त हुई और उन्होंने इसे लकड़ी के मंदिर में विराजित किया। तत्पश्चात 1780 में माधवराव पेशवा की माता श्री गोपिका बाई की सूचना पर इस मंदिर का निर्माण कराया गया।  माना जाता हैं कि मंदिर के निर्माण में उस समय लगभग 23 लाख का खर्चा हुआ था। 

मंदिर के परिसर में एक सीता गुफा है। माना जाता है कि माता सीता ने यहां बैठकर साधना की थी। मंदिर के नजदीक से गोदावरी नदी बहती है जहां प्रसिद्ध राम कुंड है। मंदिर की भव्य छठा देखते ही बनती है।

Kalaram Temple, Nashik

There are many temples of Lord Shri Ram in Nashik district of Maharashtra. Kalaram, Goraram, Muthe ka Ram, even Visheshram for women etc. Kalaram has his own distinct specialty in all these temples. Kalaram Temple is an ancient Hindu temple, in which the idol of Lord Rama is installed. This temple is not only important from the historical and archaeological point of view, its design also has such charm that it fascinates. This temple is located near Panchvati in Nashik district of Maharashtra state.

This temple was built in Nagara style in 1782 with black stones by Peshwa's Sardar Rangrao Odhekar. The idol of Shri Ram present in the temple is made of black stone, that is why it is called Kalaram. Along with Lord Shri Ram, attractive statues of Mother Sita and Lakshman are also present here.

Kalaram Temple is 74 meters long and 32 meters wide. There are four doors in four directions of the temple. The height of the Kalash of this temple is 69 feet and the Kalash is made of 32 tons of pure gold. Be it day or night, the copper spire of the temple shines all the time. On entering from the East Mahadwar, a grand Sabha Mandap is visible, which is 12 feet in height and has 40 pillars. In the Anjaniputra Hanuman temple seated here, he seems to be looking towards the feet of Lord Shri Ram.

Like its sculptures, the interior of this temple is also unique. The builders of the temple ensured that the temple was strong enough to stand the test of time. In fact, to check its durability, the builders of the temple decided to test each brick by pouring milk on it before using it in construction work. The main structure of the temple is located in the middle of a walled enclosure with 96 pillars and an arched entrance to the east.

This temple has been built at the place of Parnakuti, where in the past Nathpanthi sadhus used to reside. The sages found the idol of the Lord on the river Arun Varuna and enshrined it in a wooden temple. Subsequently, in 1780, this temple was constructed on the information of Shri Gopika Bai, mother of Madhavrao Peshwa. It is believed that around Rs 23 lakh was spent on the construction of the temple at that time.

There is a Sita cave in the temple premises. It is believed that Mother Sita sat here and meditated. Godavari river flows near the temple where the famous Ram Kund is located. The grand Chhath of the temple is worth seeing.
