 इस धरती पर सिर्फ मछलियों की ही ना जाने कितनी ही प्रजातियाँ हैं। इन्हीं में से एक है - गॉब्लिन शार्क (goblin shark)। यह खतरनाक जबड़ा, भयानक आंखें और डरावने चेहरे वाली मछली है। गोब्लिन शार्क की खोज 1898 में जापानी जल में की गई थी। इसका वर्णन अमेरिकी इचिथोलॉजिस्ट डेविड स्टार जॉर्डन द्वारा किया गया था, जिन्होंने इसे न केवल एक नई प्रजाति के रूप में बल्कि एक नए परिवार और जीनस के रूप में भी पहचाना।

यह लगभग 125 मिलियन वर्ष पुरानी शार्क की प्रजाति है। ये मछलियां समुद्र तल पर 350 फीट और उससे अधिक की गहराई पर घूमना पसंद करती हैं। गोब्लिन शार्क के पास लम्बा, सींग जैसा थूथन (Snout) होता है। यह शिकार को छीनने के लिए दांतों से भरे पार्टी हॉर्न की तरह अपने जबड़ों को आगे बढ़ा सकती हैं। यह न केवल बदसूरत है, बल्कि बहुत आलसी भी होती हैं।

Goblin shark

   Don't know how many architectural arts are there on this earth not only of fishes. One of the friendly is the goblin shark. It is a fish with menacing jaws, terrifying terrorist and scary fish. The goblin shark was discovered in Japanese waters in 1898. It was described by the American ichthyone David Starr Jordan, including it not only as a new branch but also as a new family and suborder.

This is the architecture of a shark about 125 million years old. These fish prefer to hang out on the ocean floor at depths of 350 feet and above. The goblin shark has a median, as does the horn snout. It can thrust its jaws forward like the ultimate party horn with teeth to chew on prey. It is not only unique, but also very dynamic.

The goblin shark's snout is distinctively vole-like and resembles a blade. The proportional length of the snout decreases with age. Babies are small and lack well-designed nictitating membranes. There are spiracles behind the eyes. The larger sphere is parabolic in shape. The jaws are very prominent and may be scaled almost to the end of the snout, though are usually held straight down towards the head. It has 35–53 upper and 31–62 coccygeal tooth rows. The teeth in the main part of the jaw are long and unusual, especially near the symphysis (the middle point of the jaw), and the teeth are longitudinally furrowed. The nasopharynx has small teeth at the rear of the jaws and is flattened for crushing.

Live sharks from this institute have visible blood vessels under the skin that are pink or brown in color. The color deepens with age and young sharks can be nearly white. The tiger has translucent brown or blue stripes on its sides, and the eyes are black with blue stripes across the iris. After death, the color changes from mottled to alternate brown or gray. Adult sharks are usually 3 to 4 meters long. However, the capture of a mammoth female, 5.4–6.2 m (18–20 ft) long, in the 2000s showed that this archetype may be much larger than previously thought. A 2019 study suggested that its maximum length would reach 7 m (23 ft). In 2022, a shark with a length of 3.8 m (12.5 ft) had a maximum recorded weight of 210 lb (460 lb).
