अपना दिमाग इस्तेमाल करो

एक बार की बात है कि जंगल के राजा सिंह को भूख लगी और उसने लोमड़ी से कहा, मेरे लिए कोई शिकार ढूंढकर लाओ, अन्यथा मैं तुम्हें ही खा जाऊँगा। लोमड़ी एक गधे के पास गई और बोली, मेरे साथ सिंह के समीप चलो, क्योंकि सिंह तुम्हें जंगल का राजा बनाना चाहता है।

गधा उसके साथ चल दिया, सिंह ने गधे को देखते ही उस पर हमला करके उसके कान काट लिए। लेकिन गधा किसी प्रकार भागने में सफल रहा। तब गधे ने लोमड़ी से कहा, तुमने मुझे धोखा दिया, सिंह ने तो मुझे मारने का प्रयास किया और तुम कह रही थी कि वह मुझे जंगल का राजा बनायेगा।

लोमड़ी ने कहा, मूर्खता भरी बात मत करो। उसने तुम्हारे कान इसीलिए काट लिए ताकि तुम्हारे सिर पर मुकुट सुगमता पूर्वक पहनाया जा सके, समझे! चलो लौट चलें सिंह के पास। गधे को यह बात ठीक लगी, इसलिए वह पुनः लोमड़ी के साथ चला गया।

सिंह ने फिर गधे पर हमला किया तथा इस बार उसकी पूँछ काट ली। गधा फिर लोमड़ी से यह कहकर भाग चला कि तुमने मुझसे झूठ कहा, इस बार सिंह ने तो मेरी पूँछ भी काट ली। लोमड़ी ने कहा, सिंह ने तो तुम्हारी पूँछ इसलिए काट ली ताकि तुम सिंहासन पर सहजतापूर्वक बैठ सको, चलो पुनः उसके पास चलते हैं। लोमड़ी ने गधे को फिर से लौटने के लिए मना लिया।

 इस बार सिंह गधे को पकड़ने में सफल रहा और उसे मार डाला। सिंह ने लोमड़ी से कहा जाओ, इसकी चमड़ी उतार कर इसका दिमाग, फेफड़ा और हृदय मेरे पास लेते आओ और बचा हुआ अंश तुम खा जाओ। लोमड़ी ने गधे की चमड़ी निकाली और गधे का दिमाग खा लिया और केवल फेफड़ा तथा हृदय सिंह के पास ले गई। सिंह ने गुस्से में पूछा, इसका दिमाग कहाँ गया?

लोमड़ी ने जवाब दिया, महाराज! इसके पास तो दिमाग था ही नहीं। यदि इसके पास दिमाग होता तो क्या कान और पूँछ कटने के उपरान्त भी आपके पास यह पुनः वापस आता। सिंह सन्तुष्ट होकर बोला, हाँ तुम पूर्णतया सत्य बोल रही हो।

Once upon a time, the king of the jungle, the lion felt hungry and said to the fox, find a prey for me, otherwise I will eat you. The fox went to a donkey and said, come with me near the lion, because the lion wants to make you the king of the jungle.

The donkey walked with him, the lion on seeing the donkey attacked it and bit off its ears. But the donkey somehow managed to escape. Then the donkey said to the fox, you cheated me, the lion tried to kill me and you were saying that he would make me the king of the jungle.

The fox said, don't talk nonsense. He cut off your ears so that the crown could be easily worn on your head, understand! Let's go back to Singh. The donkey liked this, so he again went with the fox.

The lion again attacked the donkey and this time bit off its tail. The donkey again ran away saying to the fox that you lied to me, this time the lion even bit my tail. The fox said, the lion has cut your tail so that you can sit comfortably on the throne, let's go to him again. The fox persuaded the donkey to return again.

  This time the lion was successful in catching the donkey and killed it. The lion said to the fox, take off its skin and bring its brain, lungs and heart to me and eat the remaining part. The fox skinned the donkey and ate the donkey's brain and took only the lungs and heart to the lion. Singh asked angrily, where did his mind go?

The fox replied, Maharaj! It didn't have brain at all. If it had a brain, would it come back to you even after having its ears and tail cut off? Singh said satisfiedly, yes you are telling the complete truth.
