गोवा राज्य की राजकीय पक्षी हल्के पीले रंग वाली बुलबुल पक्षी है। इसे फ्लेम -थ्रोटेड बुलबुल भी कहते हैं, जो गौरैया पक्षियों के बुलबुल परिवार का एक सदस्य है। गोवा राज्य सरकार के द्वारा इस पक्षी को साल 2020 में गोवा राज्य के राजकीय पक्षी के रूप में चुना गया था। इस पक्षी का वैज्ञानिक नाम पाईक्नोनोटस गुलारिस है। यह पक्षी जैतून पीले रंगो के साथ हल्के चमकीले पीले रंगों का होता है। इस पक्षी की गर्दन काफी छोटी होता है। इसका आकार 17 सेमी-20 सेमी के बीच होता है। पैर भूरे रंग के होते हैं और गैप पीले-गुलाबी होते हैं। चोंच गहरे भूरे से काले रंग की होती है। युवा पक्षियों की पंखों का वर्णन नहीं किया गया है। साथ ही यह पक्षी प्रवासी पक्षी की श्रेणी में नहीं आती है। यह केवल दक्षिणी भारत में पश्चिमी घाट के जंगलों में पाया जाता है। 

इन पक्षियों का मुख्य भोजन कीड़े मकोड़े और फल फूल आदि होता है । साथ ही माना जाता है को ये पक्षियों अमृत की भी इक्कठा करती है । यह पक्षी मुख्य रूप से भारत के गोवा, केरल, कर्नाटक, ओडिसा, तमिलनाडु आदि के राज्यों में देखा जा सकती हैं । इन पक्षियों का जीवन चट्टानों और ठंडे पर्णपाती जंगलों में रहता है । परंतु ये सदाबहार जैसे क्षेत्रों में अधिक देखी जाती हैं।  इस पक्षी का उल्लेख वन्यजीव (संरक्षण) अधिनियम, 1972 की अनुसूची-IV में किया गया है।

फ्लेम-थ्रोटेड बुलबुल आमतौर पर गोवा, पूर्वी केरल, पूर्वी कर्नाटक, उड़ीसा और कुछ हद तक तमिलनाडु के उत्तरी भाग में पाई जाती है। इस क्षेत्र को दक्षिणी प्रायद्वीप के रूप में भी जाना जाता है। फ्लेम थ्रोटेड बुलबुल का निवास स्थान चट्टानी और शुष्क पर्णपाती जंगल है। यह सदाबहार क्षेत्रों में भी पाया जाता है। इसकी ध्वनि स्वरों को एक गहरी सीटी और तेज पिकविक ध्वनि के रूप में वर्णित किया जा सकता है। फ्लेम-थ्रोटेड बुलबुल की घोंसला बनाने की प्रक्रिया 6 से 10 दिनों तक चलती है।

The light yellow bulbul bird is the state bird of the state of Goa. It is also called flame-throated bulbul, a member of the bulbul family of sparrow birds. This bird was selected as the state bird of the state of Goa in the year 2020 by the Goa state government. The scientific name of this bird is Pycnonotus gularis. This bird is of light bright yellow color with olive yellow color. The neck of this bird is very short. Its size varies between 17 cm-20 cm. The legs are brown and the gape is yellowish-pink. The beak is dark brown to black in colour. The plumage of young birds is not described. Also, this bird does not come under the category of migratory bird. It is found only in the forests of the Western Ghats in southern India.

The main food of these birds is insects, fruits and flowers etc. Also, it is believed that these birds also collect nectar. This bird can be seen mainly in the Indian states of Goa, Kerala, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu etc. The life of these birds lives in rocks and cold deciduous forests. But these are seen more in areas like evergreens. This bird is mentioned in Schedule-IV of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.

The flame-throated bulbul is commonly found in Goa, eastern Kerala, eastern Karnataka, Orissa and to some extent in the northern part of Tamil Nadu. This region is also known as the Southern Peninsula. The habitat of the Flame Throated Bulbul is rocky and dry deciduous forests. It is also found in mangrove areas. Its vocalizations can be described as a deep hissing and sharp pickwick sound. The nesting process of the flame-throated bulbul lasts from 6 to 10 days.
