फूल हमारे लिए प्रकृति का अनमोल तोहफा है। खिले हुए फूलों को देखकर मानो मन भी प्रसन्नता से खिल उठता है। किसी भी अवसर पर फूलों का आदान-प्रदान चेहरे पर मुस्कान लाने के साथ ही माहौल को खुशनुमा बना देता है। पर आज हम यहां फूल की सुंदरता और मनमोहक खुशबू के विपरीत कुछ बात करेंगे। 

दुनिया विचित्र विचित्र पेड़ पौधों से भरी हुई है। इनमें से कुछ ऐसे अजीबोगरीब पौधे और फूल भी हैं, जिन्हें देखकर विश्वास नहीं होता कि यह वास्तविक है या किसी कलाकार की कल्पना। हर फूल गुलाब, गेंदा, बेला, चमेली की तरह सुंदर और खूबसूरत नहीं होते। कुछ फूल ऐसे भी हैं, जिनके बारे में सुनकर ही हैरानी होती है। तो आज जानते हैं, एक ऐसे ही अजीबोगरीब फूल के विषय में।

रैफ्लेशिया (Rafflesia) एक ऐसा फूल है, जो अपनी विशाल आकृति और बदबूदार महक के लिए विश्व प्रसिद्ध है।  यह फूल इंडोनेशिया तथा मलेशिया के अलावा फिलीपींस में भी उगते हैं। यह बिना पत्तियों और तने वाला यह एक परजीवी पौधा है, जो दुनिया में मौजूद लगभग सभी फूलों से अधिक बड़ा है। आश्चर्य की बात यह है कि इस फूल का व्यास 105 सेंटीमीटर तथा वजन लगभग 11 किलोग्राम है। यह फूल खिलने में 9 से 10 महीनों का वक्त लेता है, परंतु करीब 1 हफ्ते तक ही जीवित रह पाता है। यह फूल साल में कुछ महीने ही खिलता है। इसके खेलने की शुरुआत अक्टूबर महीने से होती है। इसके बाद मार्च तक यह पूरी तरह से खिलता है।

इसकी सबसे छोटी प्रजाति 20 सेंटीमीटर व्यास की पाई गई है। इस फूल की सभी प्रजातियों में इसकी त्वचा छूने से मांस की तरह प्रतीत होता है और इसके फूल से सड़े हुए मांस की बदबू आती है, जिससे कुछ विशेष कीट पतंग इसकी ओर आकृष्ट होते हैं। यही कारण है कि इसे "मृत पौधा" भी कहा जाता है। अब तक इसकी 28 प्रजातियां खोजी जा चुकी हैं।

इस फूल का जन्म किसी संक्रमित पेड़ की जड़ से होता है पहले एक गांठ सी बनती है और फिर यह बड़ी होकर एक बंद गोभी के आकार की हो जाती है। फिर 4 दिनों के अंदर इसकी पंखुड़ियां खुल जाती हैं और पूरा फूल आकार लेता है।  पौधे में केवल फूल ही एक ऐसा भाग है, जो जमीन के ऊपर दिखाता है, शेष भाग कवक जाल की तरह पतले होते हैं और जमीन के अंदर ही धागों के रूप में हो फैले होते हैं। यह दुसरे पौधों की जड़ों से भोजन चूसते हैं।

Exchange of flowers on any occasion brings smile on the face and makes the atmosphere pleasant. But today we will talk about something opposite to the beauty and lovely fragrance of the flower here.

The world is full of strange bizarre trees and plants. Some of these are such strange plants and flowers that one cannot believe whether it is real or an artist's imagination. Not every flower is beautiful and graceful like rose, marigold, bella, jasmine. There are some flowers too, about which one is surprised to hear about them. So today let's know about such a strange flower.

Rafflesia is such a flower, which is world famous for its huge shape and stinky smell. Apart from Indonesia and Malaysia, these flowers also grow in the Philippines. It is a parasitic plant without leaves and stems, which is larger than almost all flowers in the world. The surprising thing is that the diameter of this flower is 105 cm and its weight is about 11 kg. This flower takes 9 to 10 months to bloom, but can survive for only about 1 week. This flower blooms only for a few months in a year. Its playing starts from the month of October. Thereafter it is in full bloom till March.

Its smallest species has been found to be 20 cm in diameter. In all species of this flower, its skin appears like flesh to the touch and its flower smells of rotten flesh, which attracts certain insect moths. That is why it is also called "dead plant". So far its 28 species have been discovered.

This flower is born from the root of an infected tree, first a lump is formed and then it grows up and becomes the size of a closed cabbage. Then within 4 days its petals open and the whole flower takes shape. Flowers are the only part of the plant that shows above the ground, the rest of the parts are thin like a fungus net and are spread in the form of threads inside the ground. They suck food from the roots of other plants.
